The legendary "De Kaasboer" (bred by Jozef Goovaerts) has been the alfa and the omega for Gaston Van De Wouwer - a true gentleman in the pigeonsport of today. With these fantastic pigeons and his fingerspitz-gefühl he has achieved amazing results the last 10 years - based on this extraordinary foundationcock "De Kaasboer".

A early start for a busy day.... 6:30 when I write this Daily Episode, the start of a busy day... First to the office to take care of the birds and a cup of coffee with my dad... Then in the car to the airport to deliver a few birds for a shipment to Dubai... The market for us in Dubai is getting bigger and bigger... Even in this country people seems to realize that the crazy prizes paid on other websites are not even close to what pigeons are really worth... Op Urk wordt dit jaar voor de zesde maal in successie taartvluchten georganiseerd. Dit zijn een zestal extra vluchten na het seizoen, deze vluchten worden in vier weken afgewerkt. Deze vluchten worden o.a. georganiseerd ten gunste van twee goede doelen, dit jaar zijn dat het Ronald MacDonaldhuis Friesland en Hope of the Nations.
Om een leuk bedrag te kunnen overhandigen aan deze goede doelen wordt deze topverkoop gehouden die in zijn geheel ten goede komen aan dit goede doel.

De eerste taartvlucht 2011 vanuit De Meern mocht plaats vinden op een mooie nazomer dag. Afhankelijk begon de dag met wat mist en een sterke Oosten Wind op de lossingsplaats. Om kwart voor elf waren de omstandigheden flink verbeterd en de wind iets bijgedraaid naar zuidoost. De duiven werden dan ook op dit tijdstip gelost.
De ruim 2.000 duiven hadden een super vertrek richting Lelystad Workum Zwaagwesteinde Groningen Nijverdal, al hadden de late jongen duidelijk problemen met de omstandigheden en moesten zaterdagavond nog een redelijk aantal nakomen. Door de mooie zomerdag op de zondag hebben er veel het hok weer kunnen bereiken.
De top van de uitslag werd beheerst door het noordoosten van de afdeling Friesland, met als grote uitblinker Johnny van der Bei uit Twijzel, die met late jongen de eerste zes van de totale uitslag voor zich opeiste tegen 1.181 duiven die deelname aan het prijsvliegen.
