De kampioenendag zal doorgaan op zaterdag 5 november in zaal oud Schunnebroeck: en niet zaosl voorheen in de kantinne van KVV Scherpenheuvel Vanaf 16u gaan de deuren open, u kan de affiche bekijken in bijlage! Op onze website kan je voorbieden op de bonverkoop tot zondag 30 oktober 21u, het is zeker eens de moeite om deze bonverkoop te bezoeken! De bons worden toegewezen aan de hoogste bieder na de zaalverkoop op zaterdag 05/11. U kan onze kampioenschappen bekijken via onze website Louis Verheyen uit Scherpenheuvel volgt zichzelf op als algemeen kampioen, Louis wordt algemeen kampioen 2011 met maar liefst 14 vermeldingen. Onze tweede algemeen kampioen vinden we eveneens in Scherpenheuvel en is Tambeur Paul met 8 vermeldingen, derde algemeen kampioen is Geerts Lucien uit Messelbroek met 6 vermeldingen! De rui, winter en kweekperiode Vloeien als het ware een beetje in en door elkaar heen. De meeste duiven pronken momenteel reeds met een gloednieuw en tiptop in orde verenkleed. Dat moet ook wel natuurlijk, met dit nieuwe verenkleed moeten ze het ganse verdere seizoen doorkomen. De pluimen die nu gewisseld worden zijn maar dus beter van de allerbeste kwaliteit!
Onder normale omstandigheden Is de dekrui op dit moment voltooid en blijft er, afhankelijk van de situatie, nog enkel de pennenrui over die tot een goed eind moet gebracht worden. De duiven gaan dan de winter in om tegen het voorjaar terug aan de kweek te beginnen. In de hedendaagse duivensport echter is er niet echt veel ruimte om de natuur zijn gang te laten gaan. Verduisterde en nadien bijgelichte duiven moeten zich reppen om "versneld" de rui door te komen en in vele gevallen aansluitend meteen aan winterkweek te gaan doen. Geen makkelijke opgave voor de dieren. Ook niet voor de liefhebber. De dieren zijn trouwens afhankelijk van wat de liefhebber hen op de hokken beschikbaar stelt.
Met een goed ruivoer Heb je niet meteen nood aan veel supplementen. In een goed ruivoer zijn in eerste instantie de eiwitten belangrijk. Eiwitten zijn de bouwstoffen van het lichaam. Niet het ruwe eiwitgehalte van uw (rui)voer, maar het opneembaar eiwitgehalte is van zeer groot belang. Alleen daar kan het lichaam wat mee. Alleen die opneembare eiwitten kunnen duiven gebruiken als bouwstoffen. Als die eiwitten dan bovendien ook nog een goede biologisch waarde hebben wordt het voor het kleine duivenlichaampje alleen maar makkelijker. Die makkelijk verteerbare en opneembare eiwitten belasten het organisme ook veel minder terwijl ze toch meer energie aanleveren. Meer en betere voedingstoffen en een grotere diversiteit er van zorgen er voor dat de dieren zonder veel problemen de rui door kunnen komen.
Voor duiven die bijgelicht werden Verloopt de rui veel sneller. Ze zitten er op momenten bij als gepluimde kippen. Zo'n dieren kunnen een extraatje dan wel weer goed gebruiken. Een extraatje onder de vorm van aminozuren en/of een eiwitsupplement volstaat. Voor onze ruiplannen, klik HIER
Voldoende mineralen Zijn ten allen tijde van groot belang voor sportdieren. Die hebben we dus niet alleen in de ruiperiode nodig. Fel ruiende duiven hebben zelfs een verhoogde behoefte en lusten ze als zoete broodjes. Dat is eveneens zo als duiven met jongen liggen. Die dingen zijn minstens zo belangrijk als een goed voer! Zorg dus hoe dan ook voor mineralen van goeie kwaliteit en niet meteen alleen maar wat gemalen baskteen waar zout aan toegevoegd werd.
Eens de dekrui voorbij En goed verlopen zal u merken dat duiven veel minder gaan eten. Veel valt er dan, behoudens de laatste pen(en), trouwens ook niet meer te bouwen. Dat betekent dat we over kunnen schakelen op een goed wintervoer. Ruimengeling blijven doorvoederen eens de dekrui voorbij zou van het goede teveel zijn. Vliegen duiven uit zullen ze veel te fel aan het trainen gaan terwijl duiven die opgesloten blijven mogelijks overgewicht zullen vertonen. Daar is niets goeds aan. Overgewicht sowieso al niet en in de sport zeker niet. Beter voorkomen dan genezen dus. We verlangen zeer veel van onze dieren. Een constant goede basisconditie is dus absoluut geen overbodige luxe en daar zijn we als liefhebber zelf verantwoordelijk voor! Voor ons Winter/Rust plan, klikHIER
Na de rui Iis het trouwens het meest geschikte moment om alle aangekoekte voedings- en andere resten van een lang vliegseizoen eens grondig uit de darmflora te verwijderen. "Grote kuis" zeg maar. Alle "te velen" van een lang seizoen er gewoon uit! Dat zorgt meteen ook voor een totaal nieuwe en gezonde darmflora. Meer bacteriën kunnen zich in de darmflora nestelen en dat zorgt voor een betere vertering en opname van voedingsstoffen.
Het meest geschikt daartoe is een voer met veel verschillende soorten ruwvezels. Verschillende lange en korte vezels en verschillende harde en zachte vezels in een zo optimaal mogelijke onderlinge verhouding. Zo'n mengeling ziet er niet meteen bijzonder mooi uit maar ze is wel erg effectief en dat is tenslotte het meest belangrijke!
Granen die veel ruwvezel bevatten Zijn in eerste instantie gerst, ongepelde rijst, ongepelde haver, cardi, alle soorten zonnepitten, boekweit... Met kortere en zachtere vezels zijn dat vooral kempzaad, dari, millicorn, witzaad enz. Aanvankelijk zorgt die samenstelling er wel voor dat duiven wat plattere mest maken. Dat komt omdat duiven in meer gaan drinken omwille van de ruwvezels maar ook en vooral door de afvalstoffen die uit het lichaam mee naar buiten komen. Geleidelijk aan wordt dat echter beter en zie je de duiven mooi strakker en strakker worden. Mooi roze borstvlees, strak, perfect nauw aansluitend verenkleed, mooi glanzende halzen en kopjes, geen overgewicht, vitaal en vol energie! Dat is dan meteen goed voor de kweek.
Om onze duiven goed voor te bereiden op de kweek Volstaat het voor uw dieren eventueel het aantal uren licht per dag even naar omhoog te brengen. Dat is niet meteen een noodzaak maar het helpt uw duiven wel. Anderhalve tot twee weken van tevoren is meer dan voldoende. Wat we in tegenstelling tot wat vroeger het geval was niet nodig hebben, is uw duiven anderhalve tot twee weken van tevoren kweekmengeling voor te schotelen. Aan onze rustmengeling hebben ze meer dan voldoende. Je voedert alleen uw duiven voor de koppeling met kweekmengeling net zo op als zouden ze op wedstrijd gaan. Voor doffers volstaan in dat geval 4 tot 5 voederbeurten, de duivinnen hebben aan 3 voederbeurten voldoende om verzadigd en top te zijn.
Tijdens het nestjagen Verbruiken doffers nogal wat extra energie. Doch het rustvoer bevat een voldoende hoog vetgehalte om in die behoefte te voorzien. Bij extreme koude kunnen we wat extra mais aan de mengeling toevoegen en dat volstaat ruimschoots. De extra energie van de amylopectines er in zorgen er voor dat onze duiven hun lichaamstemperatuur makkelijker op peil kunnen houden.
Het welzijn van dieren op de eerste plaats Gelukkig heb ik het geluk voor een firma te kunnen werken waar je bij manier van spreken je ei kwijt kan. Het beter verzorgen en begeleiden van duiven komt er nog op de eerste plaats. We krijgen van de baas de ruimte om de meest recente ontwikkelingen en inzichten in de duivensport op de voet te volgen. We hebben ook de ruimte om vervolgens via een aantal testhokken te proberen of de theorie ook wel aansluit bij de dagdagelijkse praktijk, want daar gaat het tenslotte om. Net dat ietsje meer, net dat ietsje beter telkens weer opnieuw trachten te vinden.
Een duivenvoer "maken", Samenstellen, verbeteren, weten wat wanneer en waarom, die kennis en wetenschap vervolgens ook nog trachten te verfijnen enz, dat geeft heel wat voldoening. Die voldoening komt er des te meer als het dan ook nog blijkt te werken en wat dat betreft liegen de resultaten er niet om. Duiven blijven beter in conditie, gaan constanter en beter presteren en dat is tenslotte de reden waarom het overgrote deel van de liefhebbers zich ook met die diertjes bezighouden. Sport is competitie, de beste willen zijn, beter proberen zijn dan de anderen, willen winnen en op topniveau gaan die dingen over details! Zelf een voer ontwikkelen en samenstellen, weten waarom je wat wanneer en waarom doet, heeft en geeft zoveel meer. Die uitdaging is en blijft het grote verschil tussen een firma die duivenvoer maakt en een firma die duivenvoer gewoonweg namaakt.

A bad night after a hectic day, not a good combination.... No early start for me today, it's 9:00 A.M. When I arrive in the office... After a hectic day yesterday the little one Yara kept Linda and me awake the biggest part of the night... So it did hurt a bit to leave the bed this morning... Jeugddag:
de 23ste jeugddag zit er alweer op, onze kampioenen werden gehuldigd de duiven werden verloot en de tombola getrokken zodat het seizoen 2011 voor de springlevende JeugdClub K.B.D.B. Antwerpen erop zit.
Maar niet getreurd we blijven niet stilstaan en werken ondertussen al aan seizoen 2012 en gaan denkpistes opzetten voor seizoen 2013 als we ons 25 jarig bestaan vieren.
De toekomst van de duivensport ligt dan ook in de vleugels van jongeren en beginnelingen in onze fantastische sport.
Tevens zijn alle ideeën, leden en sponsors welkom.

Duivensport promoten het kan nog !!
In Temse was er voor de vijfde maal een duivenmarkt die gecombineerd werd met een promo jeugddag voor starters en jonge liefhebbers. Opnieuw lukte het de organisatie om een mooi aantal bezoekers te verwelkomen. De samenwerking met verscheidene trouwe partners en sponsors kon dit evenement doen slagen in zijn opzet. Het marktgedeelte ondersteunde het promo gedeelte wat blijkbaar een unieke formule is in Vlaanderen. Dat deze dag samen valt metjeugdactiviteiten in andere provincies vinden de organisatoren uit Temse jammer. Het voorstel om een nationale promodag voor de jeugd te houden wordt in de wandelgangen al gesuggereerd. Aan de KBDB om hiermee iets te doen en zich niet te verschuilen achter excuses, reglementen en kommaneukerij die de duivensport niets verder helpen.
Tal van starters ontvingen hun sponsorpakket uit de handen van Hugo Maes en Yvan Lasseel respectievelijk Schepen in Temse en voorzitter Oostvlaamse Jeugdclub. Voor de organisatoren was hun aanwezigheid een opsteker. De KBDB vertegenwoordigers afwezig.
Tal van schenkingen van duiven en bons door liefhebbers uit gans Vlaanderen bewijst dat er nog velen geloven in een toekomst van deze sport. Dat liefhebbers dit doen verdient alvast een pluim. Hiermee stellen deze mensen een mooi voorbeeld naar andere kampioenen waar enkel nog de euros tellen.
Het was in JOC De Nartist in Temse een gezellige drukke duivenliefhebbersfeer.

Tuesday, a day at the office... Not to much on my mind today and that is good... Yesterday we had a little party at home, it was exact 3 years that I married Linda... One of the best things I ever done in my life... It's great to have a stable situation at home if you work in a hard and intense business like ours.... A few cold beers with our both parents and a look at the photo's from 3 years ago filled my evening... Let's see if we can get to 30 years!!!
Back to business... Today all the birds for the shipment to Malta will be collected from the lofts... The birds will be shipped tomorrow, October 26 with arrival at 23:00 in Malta... I kindly ask all buyers to contact Joseph to make proper arrangements. It's late when the birds arrive so thing need to go smoothly so you all can go home with the birds as soon as possible....

Brigadier General Gill P. Beck is the Commanding General, United States Army Reserve Legal Command, Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Recently, BG Gill Beck has received a nomination for promotion to Major General and was announced as the next Commanding General, 81st Regional Support Command. BG Gill Beck was awarded a Bronze Star for actions during the Global War on Terror. Bronze Star citation below.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes the pleasure of presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Colonel Gill P. Beck, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious service during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM during the period from 2 January 2005 to 14 June 2005, as Staff Judge Advocate, Task Force 134, Multi-National Force-Iraq, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. His exceptional leadership resulted in increasing by 300% the prosecutions handled by the Central Criminal Court of Iraq, which is responsible for judging all suspected insurgents detained by Coalition Forces in the Iraq Theater of Operations. By ensuring that convicted terrorism sentences increased by 400%, he prevented attacks on Coalition Forces in the future. This also substantially contributed to the re-establishment of the Rule of Law in Iraq, the centerpiece of Government legitimacy and a key component of the Multi-National Force-Iraq's Campaign Plan. Additionally, Colonel Beck doubled the production of the Combined Review and Release Board which substantially enhanced Multi-National Force-Iraq's partnership with the Iraqi government. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, this command, the Multi-National Force-Iraq, and the United States Army.

The Pigeoneers is a documentary film by Al Croseri that tells a great Army story about a thinking and adaptive Soldier, the type of Soldier who has always given the United States Army its edge in combat and in preparation for combat. This Army story is told through the eyes of Colonel Clifford A. Poutre, who at the time of filming was well over one hundred years old. The documentary film captures in a poignant manner the professionalism of Colonel Poutre and the passion he had for the United States Army Signal Corps Pigeon Service and his trusted pigeons.
The Pigeoneers reveals the commitment of a true Soldier, who as a child growing up near Saratoga, New York, slept on the floor, in his mind, to toughen his body for what he reviewed was his calling service to our Nation in the United States Army. Like most Soldiers, he joined the Army not for glory or to obtain rank but rather to serve a higher, noble cause, the defense of our beloved country the United States of America.
After a nice weekend, a new busy week ahead of us... After a few relaxing days with Linda and the kids back in the office... The weekend was great and I enjoyed myself a lot... A bit of cooking, a few cold beers and most of all enjoying some time with the kids... It nice to see how much they like it when I am home and when I really spend some time with them... So the battery is full full for a busy week...
