Game on Tarbes, liberated 8:00 A.M. This morning 34 of our birds are liberated in Tarbes.... 1027 KM to our lofts in Den Hoorn. This used to be an International race because because the difference in the day of basketing with Belgium we are not allowed in the International race this year... The advantage we have is that we now have only a National so the federation (ZLU) decided to liberate the birds today (Friday) instead of Saturday instead of the planned Saturday.... The weather today seems to be good with winds below from the South... So there is a big chance birds will arrive today... In 20110 we had the only bird on the day in our club & long-distance club.... But I think this will be different now... back then the wind was from the North.... Check our website tonight... We will keep you all posted about the arrival at our loft....

de slechte weersvoorspellingen heeft ons doen besluiten om geen duiven in te korven op Orleans. De vooruitzichten waren slecht zowel voor zaterdag als zondag en we wilden het risico niet lopen. Hopelijk wordt het zondag beter weer en kunnen we inkorven voor Chimay. De planning is volgende week mee te spelen op Sezanne de vlucht tvv "kom op tegen kanker" We houden jullie op de hoogte
5 days after Barcelona, time to make up the balance.... The last few days I received lot's of email from around from guys all asking the same question... How was Barcelona? Well to save me a lot of time.... Barcelona was great for us...In our region we started with the 1st against 246after that 4th, 12th, 25th, 39th, 43rd, 53rd, 56th, 57th and 61st. 10 price cards in region out of 33 raced birds... National we start with 81st and 103rd for the rest we will need to wait till the official results... Are we happy with that? Yes we are.... The only thing was the the weather... That was not to good, Barcelona is a family matter for us... We would have loved to wait all day in sun, instead we waited in the rain and cold weather and before the family arrived at 10 A.M. The race was almost over.... Anyway till now 31 returned home 2 of them are wounded and the one I lost is one of our best.... Raced Barcelona & Perpignan 2 times with great results but no he???? New chances next year... I would like to thank all guys for the emails.... it's great to see you are all so interested!!

Maandag 11 juli. De duiven verkeren in een uitstekende conditie. De neuzen zijn krijtwit en de mest op de transportbanden zijn kleine knikkertjes. Ook de laatkomers van de vorige trainingswedstrijden zijn aardig gerecupereerd. Ze hebben er echt zin in bij het uitvliegen in Nevele.
Om reden van de moeilijk verlopen training op dinsdag 5 juli werd beslist de duiven nogmaals in Rekkem te lossen alvorens met grotere afstanden aan te
vatten. De weersvoorspellingen voor dinsdagvoormiddag 12 juli waren behoorlijk voor het westen van het land. Kans op buien en onweer werd aangekondigd voor de late
namiddag. Om die reden werd ook beslist de duiven op maandagavond reeds in te korven. Dinsdagmorgen kon er echter om reden van nevel pas om 8u45 gelost worden. De temperatuur bedraagt 17°C en er staat een lichte tot matige noordoosten wind. Op dat moment is er een zicht van meer dan 10 km.
Aan de hokken in Nevele wordt met spanning uitgekeken naar de eerste aankomsten. Opnieuw zijn de duiven veel te lang onderweg en de eerste zeven duiven komen één voor één aan . Bij het binnenlopen en klokken stellen we een mooie verrassing vast. De winnaar van afgelopen vrijdag is opnieuw als eerste geklokt. Proficiat aan zijn eigenaar, Jupid SG uit Duitsland.
Na een paar minuten komen er grotere groepen aan en 2 uur na de lossing hebben ongeveer 430 van 600 duiven hun hok opnieuw bereikt. Intussen zijn de weersomstandigheden snel aan het veranderen. Om 17u30 zijn er 514 duiven terug op de hokken. Intussen begint het her en der hevig te regenen. Bij het sluiten van de wedstrijd op woensdag om 12 uur hebben 549 duiven hun hok opnieuw bereikt. De vijfde trainingswedstrijd wordt gesloten.
Als de weersomstandigheden dit toelaten volgt de zesde trainingswedstrijd op vrijdag 15 juli. We houden jullie verder op de hoogte.

Le cinquième entraînement est fini.
Lundi 11 juillet, les pigeons étaient en excellent état. Les nezs blancs craies, et le fumier ressemble à des petites billes. Les retardataires des précédents entraînements semblent avoir récupérés assez bien. Ils sont vraiment hâte de voler dans les environs de Nevele.
A cause de l'entraînement plutôt difficile du mardi 5 juillet, on a décidé de libérer les pigeons à nouveau à partir de Rekkem avant de commencer à partir de
plus longues distances. Les prévisions météo pour mardi matin le 12 juillet ont été assez bonnes pour la région de l'ouest du pays. Risque d'averses et orages a été annoncé pour la
fin de l'après midi. Pour cette raison, les pigeons ont été enlogés déjà le lundi matin. Mardi matin, à cause du brouillard, les pigeons ne peuvent être libéré qu'à 8h45. La température est alors de 17°C et il y a un vent léger à modéré du nord-est. A ce moment-là, il y a une visibilité de plus de 10 km.
Au grenier à Nevele, les premiers arrivants sont attendus avec impatience. Encore une fois, les pigeons ont besoin un temps trop long à revenir et les sept premiers oiseaux viennent un par un. Lorsque les pigeons viennent, nous remarquons une belle surprise. Le vainqueur du dernier entraînement de vendredi est de nouveau le premier. Félicitations à son propriétaire, Jupid SG de l'Allemagne.
Après quelques minutes, les grands groupes arrivent, et 2 heures après la libération, environ 430 des 600 pigeons ont à nouveau atteint le grenier. Pendant ce temps, le temps change rapidement. A 17h30 il y a 514 pigeons dans le grenier. En attendant la pluie commence à tomber fortement. A l'heure de la clôture de l'entraînement le mercredi à midi, 549 pigeons sont retournés dans le grenier. Le cinquième entraînement est fermé.
Si les conditions météorologiques le permettent, le sixième entraînement sera tenu le vendredi 15 juillet. Nous vous tiendrons informés.

The fifth training has been completed.
On Monday, July 11th, the pigeons were in excellent condition. The noses are chalk white, and the manure looks like small marbles. The latecomers from the previous trainings seem to have recovered fairly good. They are really looking forward to fly in the surroundings of Nevele.
Because of the rather difficult training run on Tuesday, July 5, it was decided to release the pigeons again from Rekkem before starting from longer
distances. The weather forecast for Tuesday morning July 12 were quite good for the western area of the country. Chance of showers and thunderstorms were announced for
the late afternoon. For that reason, the pigeons were basketed already on Monday morning. Tuesday morning, because of the fog, the pigeons could only be released on 8.45h. The temperature is then 17°C and there is a light to moderate northeast wind. At that time there is a visibility of more than 10 km.
At the Nevele lofts, the first arrivals are eagerly awaited. Again, the pigeons need too long a time to return and the first seven birds come in one by one. When the pigeons are being clocked, we notice a nice surprise. The winner of last Friday's training clocking in first again. Congratulations to his owner, Jupid SG from Germany.
After a few minutes larger groups arrive, and 2 hours after the release, about 430 of 600 pigeons reached their loft again. Meanwhile, the weather changes rapidly. At 17.30h there are 514 pigeons in the loft again. Meanwhile heavy rain starts falling. At the closing time of the training on Wednesday at noon, 549 pigeons have returned to their loft. Nu het snelheids en halve fond seizoen er bijna op zit voor de oude en jaarduiven worden vele vleugels gericht op de jonge duiven.

We beleefden weer een prachtig sportief weekend. Al was de vlucht uit Melun een moeilijke dobber, toch wisten we behoorlijk te presteren. Lokaal beginnen we met 3,6,9,12,14,17 enz.. In het gewest tegen 1535d. was dit 5,15,28,36 enz.. en realiseren 26 prijzen. Op deze vlucht waren er in heel Limburg behoorlijk veel verliezen. Bij ons mankeren er een 10-tal. Chimay op zondag was meer dan behoorlijk. in het gewest tegen maar liefst 4613duiven winnen we: 13,21,22,25,33,59,60.... en maar liefst 23 prijzen per 10-tal!! In de tussenstand voor de snelheid staat Lennert nog steeds op kop maar je zal zien dat het er bijzonder spannend wordt in het kampioenschap voor het prachtig solarium!! Ik stuur de tussenstand straks door. Mag ik ook nog even meedelen dat 3 van onze deelnemers hier op het hok het geweldig goed deden dit weekend met hun paarden. suke Hendrikx behaalde zilver in de beker van Limburg. Nathalie van de meerakker behaalde zelfs 2x zilver in 2 verschillende categoriën. En Sally Jacobs haar duif werd zondag 5de maar zijzelf behaalde goud in de Beker van Limburg en won daarme een prachtige infra rood cabine twv 5000- euro. Daarbij komt ook nog dat wij op ons hok in Maasmechelen zaterg ,notabene op mijn verjaardag, de 1ste prov. uit Moulin wonnen tegen 1004 duiven en er een geweldige reeks neerzetten. Jullie zullen het met mij eens zijn dat dit op sportief vlak een voltreffer was. Deze week zullen we hard moeten werken op die prestaties te evenaren volgend weekend. ik kan jullie ook meedelen dat de duiven voor de snelheid dinsdag terug ingekorfd worden voor de vlucht uit Chimay van woensdag, tenzij de weergoden er anders over beslissen. Mag ik ook vragen dat de mensen die maandelijks betalen hun bijdrage van 15 euro/ duif storten . Dit enkel natuurlijk voor de duiven die nog aanwezig waren voor de vlucht uit Melun. Zo ik denk dat jullie weer helemaal mee zijn tot later deze week

De duiven van de Belgian Master editie 2011 hebben hun vierde trainingswedstrijd afgewerkt. Hoewel de duiven opnieuw eerder traag naar Nevele terugkwamen, zijn de verliezen gelukkig zeer beperkt gebleven. De volgende training is voorzien op dinsdag 12 juli, indien de weersomstandigheden dit toelaten.

Les pigeons de l´édition 2011 du Belgian Master ont terminé leur quatrième entraînement. Bien que les pigeons soient revenus plutôt lentement à Nevele, les pertes sont heureusement restées très limitées.
Le prochain entraînement est prévu le mardi, 12 juillet, si la météo le permet.

The pigeons of the Belgian Master 2011 edition have finished their fourth training. Although the pigeons returned rather slowly to Nevele, the losses are fortunately very limited. The next training is scheduled on Tuesday, July 12, if weather permitting.

Vrienden, hier de tussenstand in de categorie Halve fond en Nationale vluchten Het is de "Bastaard" van Jef Meerts die resoluut de leiding heeft genomen. Steeds weer weet hij zichzelf te motiveren. Nochtans was zijn duivinnetje weg gebleven van Reims maar hij dacht ander en beter!! De vucht werd gewonnen door Bikkembergs van Dirck Van dijck! Het is een duivinnetje maar eerst dachten we dat het een duiver was vandaar zijn naam. Net als Bikkembergs zelf die ook van geaardheid veranderde!! Zijn komt uit het ras Op de beeck Baetens en is een inteelt product van de bekende "zot". Maar ook zit er lijn van de Kannibaal van Dirk Van dijck zelf in. mooi toch! In het gewest haalt zij een mooie 5de prijs. In de loop van de week beslis ik wat ze volgend weekend zullen vliegen. Of Orleans provinciaal of een week chimay om een week later dan Sezanne te vliegen in aanloop van bourges. Alles hangt af van de training en de weersvoorspellingen ik hou jullie op de hoogte

I hope you had a chance to participate in our Lawn Show this year. Truly, a great time was had by all.
In case you did not hear, Ernie had his loft and property vandalized the evening after the Lawn Show. Approximately 200 birds were stolen, including some of his American Rollers, West of England Tumblers, Helmets and Cockatiels, along with some tools.
Ernie managed to recover, with the help of Ken Chatwin, approximately 30 pigeons on his property that had escaped the vandal's boxes. Ernie was also able to retrieve 61 of his pigeons, which had been advertised on Craig's List for sale.
Through the cooperation of the RCMP and the local Abbotsford Police, a suspect has been identified and charged. This suspect is thought to be responsible for a series of bird and livestock thefts over the past year. Hopefully, these thefts will end with this suspect being charged, and possibly convicted.
No one likes to be a victim of vandalism. This is especially unfair as Ernie works tirelessly to promote and improve his birds, his hobby and our club. Hopefully Ernie can put this behind him and carry on with his hobby.Regards,

We have a wild bird feeder that attracts the usual backyard birds but recently I noticed a pair of doves sitting on the fence by the feeder. My first thought was that they were mourning doves, which are fairly common in our area, but after a second look I saw these doves had a dark "collar" around their neck and were quite a bit larger than a mourning dove. My next thought was that they were an escaped pair of ringneck doves but, having kept ringneck doves for a few years, I could see these birds were stockier built and a slightly greyer colour than a wild type ringneck dove.
A little online research revealed that the birds were Eurasian collared doves and provided a modern day pigeon success story.
The Eurasian collared dove was originally native to warm temperate Asia from Turkey to southern China. But in the 20th century it started rapidly expanding its range into Europe, reaching the UK in 1953, into Scandinavia, reaching Norway in 1970 and into northern Africa, reaching Egypt in the 1990s. It has even shown up in unlikely places such as Japan and Iceland.
In the 1970's it was introduced to the Bahamas. It was then only a matter of time before it started appearing in Florida and the Gulf Coast. From there it spread across North America in a northwest direction arriving in Alberta in 2001 and B.C. in 2005 and has recently been recorded in Alaska. It now is expected to spread eastwards and in fact is appearing in the Great Lakes region and the Maritimes.
Non-native introduced species that spread rapidly and negatively impact local native species are often referred to as invasive. The starling is a good example. At this point the Eurasian collared dove is described as dispersive until it is known how it interacts with birds such as the mourning dove. Who knows, it may even end up competing with the rock dove!
In all aspects the Eurasian collared dove is a typical pigeon, they are generally monogamous, breed throughout much of the year, typically raising 3-5 broods and live close to wherever food resources are abundant. They are gregarious and often form sizable flocks during the winter months. Since they are not migratory and typically live near human habitation we might as well get used to hearing their repetitive loud cooing sound. This all came to mind while I was talking with Jay Hannenburg at our lawn show last weekend. Jay, who lives in Lynden, Washington , was telling me how he thought a flock of ringneck doves had escaped or been released by someone in his neighbourhood and that he heard them cooing all the time. I'd bet that what Jay was hearing was the result of a pigeon success story.
