We willen immers terug naar ons basis-idee : wie kan - vóór ze opgeleerd zijn - de toekomstige kampioentjes uit zijn jonge duiven kiezen ? De kans bestaat dat u een duifje minder kan klasseren, maar vermits het totale prijzenbedrag vast ligt onmiddellijk na de inschrijving, stijgt dan het gemiddelde prijzengeld per duif.
NIEUW : we hebben ook een rangschikking voor de beste niet-KUK-duif. Hebt u een super die u niet hebt ingeschreven voor KUK, geef dan zijn beste 7-6-4 prijzen door vóór 31/10/2011. we organiseren de 4 Ronde van België vluchten opnieuw samen met maatschappij Vallen en Binnen, dus inkorving in Vallen en Binnen, Dorpelstraat 18, 1910 Kampenhout.
de data liggen vast : zaterdagen 24 september, 1 oktober, 8 oktober en 15 oktober 2011, dus inkorving op vrijdagavond.
we herhalen onze vraag bij de KBDB om Boom te vervangen door Meer, zodat we ook een vlucht uit het noorden hebben. Maaseik wordt niet weerhouden, gezien de vele Limburgse liefhebbers die vorig jaar op onze Ronde kwamen spelen. Dus lossingsplaatsen : Oostende, Rumes, Meer, Cognelée, Arlon, Herstal.
we stellen vast dat de jonge duiven het moeilijk hebben tegen de oude, gezien hun gebrek aan ervaring. Daarom in 2011 een "Jonge Duiven Poel", dus enkel voor de jonge duiven : inleg 5 per duif, in prijzen van 50, 30 , 3x20 , 5x15 , verder 10 gewaarborgd tot de laatste prijs per tweetal.
binnenbrengen van de klokjes : de klokjes kunnen pas binnengebracht worden vanaf 4 uur na de lossing (dus bij lossing om 9u00 vanaf 13u00). Voordelen : minder tijdsverlies voor de helpers, deelnemende medewerkers kunnen hun duiven zien vallen, meer tijd voor de liefhebbers in de verre achterkant, meer liefhebbers samen in het lokaal.
Vermits de mosselfeesten van Vallen en Binnen reeds doorgaan op 17 en 18 september, hebben we voor onze mosselseries een nieuwe partner gezocht en gevonden : Restaurant Beekveld, Kruineikenstraat 83 te Tildonk (www.beekveld.be). Op onze openingsvlucht zijn dus opnieuw 20 mosselseries ter waarde van 20 te winnen met de serie van 4 eerst afgegeven. Te verbruiken tot eind 2011.

Nieuwsbrief 26 maart 2011
Beste lezer,
Seizoen 2010 was een roerig seizoen, ook met de postduiven. Veel pech met de oude duiven, met name veel onnodige verliezen van bewezen vliegduiven aan de roofvogel, en ziekte (pokken) onder de jonge duiven maakten dat er in 2010 niet optimaal gepresteerd kon worden. Desondanks werden we voor het 2e jaar op rij 1e Midfond Onaangewezen in Afdeling 11. Maar de blik is nu weer gericht op het nieuwe vliegseizoen dat vandaag begon met de eerste trainingsvlucht in afdelingsverband.
Die eerste trainingsvlucht was dit jaar extra spannend, aangezien de jonge garde vorig jaar door de pokkenuitbraak slechts 3 natoervluchten mee is geweest. We hebben dit jaar een kleine 40 vliegduiven tot onze beschikking, 24 weduwnaars in het tuinhok en 16 weduwnaars in het nieuwe zolderhok. De 24 weduwnaars op het tuinhok hebben dit jaar geen jongen groot gebracht. Na ca. 10 dagen broeden zijn de duiven gescheiden. De 16 weduwnaars van het zolderhok zitten op dit moment op de jongen van de beste weduwnaars en kwekers en zullen binnenkort ook op weduwschap gaan. Deze 16 duiven gingen nog niet mee op de eerste trainingsvlucht van het jaar, om reden dat we niet het risico willen lopen dat we ze verspelen nu ze zo mooi op jongen zitten.
De trainingsvlucht verliep bij ons redelijk. Ondanks de kou (ca. 6 graden) kwamen de duiven redelijk thuis. Ze hebben nog niet de absolute topvorm, maar dat hoeft nu ook nog niet. Als eerste klokten we de Wringer. Deze doffer uit 2006 had vorig jaar een wat minder seizoen. Hij werd wel 3e Duifkampioen Fond in eigen vereniging, maar evenaarde zijn prestaties van het jaar daarvoor niet. Toen werd hij 1e Duifkampioen Fond in vereniging, ACG en CCG de Kuststrook. Het waren vooral meerjarige duiven die voorop kwamen. Uiteindelijk zijn we 1 doffer kwijt geraakt. Dit was echter al een twijfelgeval. Hij had ook nog geen broedhok gekregen, maar was als reserve aangehouden.
Zoals ook de afgelopen 2 jaren hebben de weduwnaars naast de verplichte enting ook een enting tegen paratyfus gehad. Voor deze enting zijn ze voor alle zekerheid nog wel gekuurd tegen paratyfus. Verder zorgen we er uiteraard voor dat de vliegers geheel vrij van het "Geel" aan de start verschijnen. De weduwnaars een keer of zes weggebracht met het mooie weer van de afgelopen weken.
Op het kweekhok gaat het uitstekend. De tot nu toe gekweekte jongen zijn prachtig opgekomen. Het heeft ze dan ook aan niets ontbroken. Waar we vorig jaar een enkeling met een krom borstbeen of deukje in het borstbeen hadden, hebben we daar nu de oplossing voor gevonden. Onze kwekers zijn alle vastzitters. Waarschijnlijk hebben ze vorig jaar een relatief klein tekort aan vitamine D gehad. Dit wordt namelijk aangemaakt onder invloed van zonlicht. Dit jaar hebben de duiven extra Calcium en vitamine D gekregen en toe nu toe hebben we nog geen deukje of krom borstbeen gezien bij de jongen. Op dit moment broeden ze de laatste ronde voor eigen gebruik uit. De meeste kweekkoppels van 2011 vindt u op onze site onder "Verkoop".
Erg benieuwd zijn we naar de resultaten die we zullen hebben met de in 2009 en 2010 aangeschafte duiven bij Comb. De Ridder uit Arnemuiden. Deze combinatie won in 2008 tweemaal een NPO-vlucht op de Eendaagse Fond en werd in 2010 zelfs 1e Nationaal Eendaagse Fondspiegel Cat. 3. Er zitten 11 rechtstreekse Comb. De Ridder duiven op het kweekhok en we hopen dit jaar de eerste resultaten van deze duiven te zien.

A busy one for me, today we will get all the birds sold in Bangladesh out of the lofts for the shipment of next week. Making all the papers and make final arrangements. So guys your birds are coming and you can start breeding very soon. Let's hope some champion breeders are amongst them. Then we will have to basket all our late bred birds 2010 for the first training race in the club. A short race for the late bred birds to start learning and test all systems (Unikon) to see all is working for the new season. Tomorrow some clients from Poland will come in to collect some birds and after all that I will spend some time with Linda and the kids... A hectic week behind me what a lot of birds sold... This week the most are sold to Malta, so a special thanks to Joseph Portelli our partner in Malta, Joe thanks a million you are doing a great job!!!

De jonge duiven op ons trainingcenter zijn nog steeds een goede doen. Terwijl de laatste duiven aan het spenen zijn toert de eerste ronde al deftig rond en ja ze trekken ook al weg. We hebben ze vorige week geënt tegen paramyxo en pokken en daarop enkele duiven toch wel gereageerd. Je zag het aan ze. Je kan dat al eens hebben omdat de entstof op oliebasis is! Ze krijgen en hevigere reactie hierop. Zoals ik al zei ging het over enkele exemplaren. Ze wilden niet meer naar buiten en 3 stuks kwamen niet eten. Na 2 dagen was het al een stuk beter en vlogen ze weer met de groep mee. Ik geef ze wel regelmatig pichones in het water. Zeker 3 keer per week. Het geeft hen een algemene ondersteuning en verhoogt de weerstand. Iets dat ze de komende 2 à 3 maanden goed gaan kunnen gebruiken. Ook werden ze allemaal al gekuurd tegen tricho. Doe ik steeds als ze gespeend zijn en goed drinken. Voorlopig hebben we een 4 tal verliezen. Op deze bende valt dat nog goed mee. Hopelijk blijft de gezondheid goed en de verliezen beperkt. Want jullie weten, iedereen die bij ons meedoet garandeer ik een jonge duif op de eerste prijsvlucht. Ze worden door mij gratis vervangen. Vitaminen krijgen ze nog niet veel. Af en toe wat olie op het voer samen met zeewier poeder.Daar zitten heel wat mineralen is, goed voor de groei. De vitaminen komen later op het seizoen aan bod als de wedstrijden echt beginnen. In ieder geval wordt er niet stil gezeten op onze hokken, zoals ik als zei, de aftrap is definitief gegeven.
Nog één iemand die een vraagje had over de 15 euro maandelijkse bijdrage. Daarvan worden alle kosten betaald zijnde: verzorging, vaccinaties, medicatie, vitaminen, training met de wagen, chipringen, onkosten vervoer duif naar lossingsplaats etc...

The first day of the spring and it feels just like it... A clear blue sky and nice temperatures. All birds enjoyed their bath today and the breeders are all on eggs. Great to see all the birds are doing great, if all things stay like this I for see a great season for us again... The birds are 100% healthy and full of energy and if you realize that in this of year we still give them 80% Barley you can imagine what happens if we start feeding them with widowhood mixtures!!!

Burnaby B.C. - Sergio Batista will appear at a Burnaby City Council meeting on March 15 to petition them to change the bylaw on keeping backyard pigeons. After keeping pigeons for 20 years in various communities in the Lower Mainland, Batista moved to his current residence on 11th Avenue in Burnaby a few years ago and was told that his 10 pigeons must go after a complaint was received from a neighbour. Batista says his racing pigeon club has members who keep pigeons throughout the Lower Mainland. Burnaby Mayor Corrigan indicated that petitions to amend bylaws have met with little success in the past.
Abbotsford B.C. - Police have reported thefts of more than 5000 pigeons over the last few months from Abbotsford area farms. The logistics of the theft of these birds which were being cage raised in commercial squab operations is puzzling and Abbotsford police are liaising with Langley police about similar incidents in that neighbouring jurisdiction. The estimated value of the stock lost is around $20,000.
China - Mainland China's Peoples' Liberation Army, already the world's largest military force, has 10,000 new recruits in the form of pigeons. While pigeons have served in the PLA since 1950 their numbers have been limited to a couple of hundred. The new pigeons will be trained to deliver messages as a contingency plan in case of the breakdown of mass communication systems. Chen Chuntao, in charge of the pigeon division, says pigeons are "the most practical and effective short and medium distance tool for communication during electromagnetic interference or signal collapse".
New York - former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson will be starring in a documentary series on pigeon racing to be aired on the Animal Planet channel starting at 10 pm March 15, 2010. Tyson has raised pigeons all his life. Growing up in New York's Brownsville neighbourhood the troubled teen took refuge by caring for his pigeons in a rooftop loft. He claims pigeons introduced him to boxing when he was confronted by an older boy who killed the pigeon he was holding and Tyson responded with a punch. Critics say the documentary series is a crash course in pigeon racing - although one describes it as "mostly old guys sitting around on rooftops waiting for their pigeons to come home". But the series features excellent camera work over rooftop landscapes with rich characters such as a cigar chomping Portuguese businessman, two young Mexican brothers and an old Italian pigeon breeder. Tyson currently keeps 2500 pigeons in various locations. After the series premiered, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) protested outside Tyson's home in California stating that pigeon racing was cruel.
Saskatoon, Sask - the City of Saskatoon has introduced an annual license fee of $16 for owners of pigeon lofts within city boundaries. The bylaw also stipulates that each pigeon must have two square feet of floor space in the loft. The fine for violating the bylaw is $250.

The owner S.D. Wierstra, from Twijzelerheide, one of the top fanciers in Section Friesland, must dispose of 85 pigeons. These pigeons will be sold in four groups in four consecutive weeks. One of my scouts is coming in for coffee and I like to see what kind of birds he found for us this weeks... What I do know is that there are some Heremans Ceusters, Marcel Sanger, and De Klak's...
