October 25, 2007 - Look like a rock star! We check out a first-of-its-kind boutique from Chicago Musician, "Fall Out Boy's" Pete Wentz. It's called Clandestine Industries located near the intersection of Clark, Newport and Sheffield on Chicago's northside.

Clandestine Industries was formed in 2004 with the release of a book created in childhood nightmares, "The Boy with the Thorn in His Side," a journey through the twisted subconscious of a younger Pete Wentz. The successful release of Pete's book led him to expand his creative vision into clothing. The line was sold predominately online for the first few years until a joint venture with DKNY Jeans took the line to national retailers this fall. Thousands of hoodies and tee's later, Wentz and Clandestine are prepared to launch their first retail store, right here in his hometown of Chicago!

Clandestine Industries Grand Opening

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy held a signing for the grand opening of his clothing store Clandestine Industries in Chicago Saturday, October 20th 2007
If you arrived passed 9:30am you couldn’t miss the store, for there was a string of Clandestine/ Wentz fans standing all the way down West Newport. The line was chaotic and the “L” track that everyone was under just contributed to the noise. Shortly after 10 am the line slowly began to move, but came to a halt when ABC news trucks pulled up around 12:30 pm (to get footage of the event). Fifteen minutes after the scheduled time of the event a black SUV drove into the alley accompanied by screams of, “Oh my god! It’s Pete!” Cameras began to flash, Joe Trohman (guitarist of Fall Out Boy) stepped out first. Wentz followed, accompanied by girlfriend Ashlee Simpson. Soon after security came out and went over rules; only one item could be signed per person, you could take photos of Wentz but not with him, and the line had to move quickly because of the number of fans. The first 100 fans were let in first and were the only ones allowed to buy items from the store. It was told beforehand that only the 1st 100 fans would be the only ones to meet the bassist, but after the 100 came out, they let in four fans in at a time. The store’s slightly small the design is white crisp walls with black trimming, wooden floors and hanging above a black beaded chandelier. The words "This Machine Kills Fasion-ism" were bold in black on the wall above the shelves. The items were hung on wooden hangers and shelved in neat piles on black metal shelving. Outfits were displayed on mannequins with sleeves knotted at the ends. The store front had frosted windows with a black batskull heart Clandestine logo on the main window. The door reads,

CHARACTERIZED BY, DONE IN, OR EXECUTED ITH SECRECY OR CONCEALMENT,
ESPECIALLY FOR PURPUSE OF SUBVERSION OR DECEPTION.

Wentz ,Trohman and joined later Marc of Gym Class Heroes sat behind a black check out counter under 13 shampoo bottles shelved above (the place used to be a hair salon). Both signed and greeted fans. After the signing, about 20 dedicated fans waited by the back of the store in the alleyway to catch another glimpse of Wentz. Most fans had left and were off to Fall Out Boy’s The Young Wild Things Tour, held at the Allstate Arena in Illinois also that night. The ones that continued to wait were not disappointed. Overall, the signing was pretty rushed. There were hundreds of people there, and they wanted to get everyone through the line. Some fans left with one of the four exclusive, hand-numbered shirts, limited to 250 each only two were sold per-person, these shirts are only sold at store. For the rest, the store is open and they can come back anytime and purchase the latest in Clandestine. - CashDolla Industries

New photos! Fall Out Boy attend and perform at Hennessy Artistry Finale Event - October 10th 2007

Yesterday October 9th 2007 Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy held his meet & greet at Sam Ash on Sunset in Hollywood California for the launch of his Fender Bass. Well everything wasn't so sunny on the set. The poster star bassist was feeling sick that afternoon and still went through with the event, a good call considering the line of fans down and around the corner of the building. Around 5:15 kid after kid in groups of 30 came in and got close to Wentz, taking pictures and exchanging hugs. Some of the fans had the Fender Bass and one lucky fan won a bass from a contest they also had held that afternoon. But apparently from FOB message boards, MySpace posts and word of mouth, some kids came back caring his little bug and are feeling the aftermath today. For some of these fans there probably pretty stoked they caught the (PTD) Pete transmitted disease.(hahaha) For others its soup and rest for them. Wentz was all smiles most of the time and met every fan in line. The security was low and fans were even allowed to stay inside and take photos. Some fans waited out back as Wentz headed to the car to get another glimpse, say goodbye, and thank him. I know this has nothing to do with Pete, but i just wanted to let you guys know that Dirty cut his hair! He had posted a my space bulletin yesterday saying he was thinking of shaving off his hair, but he didin't shave it all off after all. He just posted a bulletin telling everyone to check out his new hair cut, and I think his hair cut is sophisticated looking but it looks great on him! Check out the photos at his myspace here

they have shut off the internet and all international calls in burma as the government brutally dehumanizes the people there. i know this is a small effort but maybe we can make a collage of a bunch of us with light bulbs- our show of solidarity- that they cannot turn the lights out. the world will be watching (as usual please excuse the mullet and suspenders- er the paint i dont even know whats going on with that).

no real update here.
so tired.

i just wanted to say that i have been speaking with some people in uganda and reading (up on where we shot the "me and you" video). its been amazing to see that there are now peace talks going on again. i saw amazing pictures of villagers smashing the huts in displacement camps and preparing to move home- it sent chills down my spine. it feels good to be a part of something even if its just being a small part of something. our voices are being heard. there is a long way to go. but it feels great, as we now know some of the people living there. keep voting for the video and showing it to people!

this of course is contrasted by what i had later read about the situation in burma which has gotten so much worse. the government there is a brutal dicatorship- 100,000 monks engaged in peaceful protest and have now been forced inside their temples by soldiers. the government has now cut off international calls and internet there. there is an attempt to keep this all in the dark. i want to go there. anyway if you get a chance read up on it.

more on the band and the YWT soon. new ideas are brewing- a dvd is in the works. get your tickets soon before scalpers are selling them for waaay too much.

Earlier this week, Rolling Stone caught up with Pete Wentz during a stop in New York, hoping just to see what was brewing in the mind of the Fall Out Boy bassist. The majority of them being children (38,000). This is the longest running war in Africa, between the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the government of Uganda. 1985 – 2007 (22 years) CURRENT SITUATION: There are peace talks at the moment, resulting in the absence of night commuting and abductions are relatively non existent. The peace talks take place in Juba, Sudan. WHAT IS OUR GOV. DOING: Largely influenced by Displace Me, our gov assigned a senior diplomat to oversee the peace talks in Juba. But we need to push them to stay involved.
