    UITSLAGEN RAW 27 AUGUSTUS

Tonight’s WWE RAW opens with a look back at CM Punk and John Cena from last week where Cena issued the challenge for Night of Champions. We see Punk’s attack on Jerry Lawler.

    - After the RAW intro video, we’re live from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Michael Cole welcomes us to RAW and he’s joined by Jerry Lawler. Cole talks about CM Punk attacking Lawler. Lawler takes off his headset and enters the ring.

Lawler talks about what he said at the end of RAW 1000 about Punk. Lawler says he misspoke. Lawler says he apologized to Punk last week but this week, he’s the one who wants the apology. Lawler waits as the crowd chants for Punk. The music finally hits and out comes the WWE Champion.

Punk can’t believe that Lawler wants the WWE Champion to apologize for doing his job. Punk says he didn’t turn his back on anybody and beat the crap out of The Rock because he deserved it. Punk says Lawler turned his back on WWE when he slandered the champion. Punk says he kicked Lawler in his stupid head last week because of his lack of respect. Punk says that’s what he does. He will put down anyone who disrespects him. Punk says he is sorry. He’s sorry that all it takes to get into the WWE Hall of Fame is to beat a bunch of nobodies from Memphis and get in a slapstick with a Hollywood comedian. Punk rips into Lawler some more. Punk says Lawler is jealous because he’s never been WWE Champion. Punk says Lawler finally got his WrestleMania moment and couldn’t beat Michael Cole. Punk goes on and says he’s sorry about the man Lawler has become.

Punk taunts Lawler now and asks him if he wants to fight. Punk says Lawler is just a commentator while he’s the best in the world. Punk says he would embarrass Lawler. Lawler says he came out here for an apology, not a fight. Punk taunts him some more. Punk promises one thing – Lawler will leave embarrassed tonight, either because Punk does it or because he backed down from a fight. Punk tells Lawler to think about it and leaves the ring talking about respect. Lawler says he will think about it and heads back to the announce table. We go to commercial.

    Ryback vs. Jack Swagger

Back from the break and Jack Swagger waits in the ring. Out next comes his opponent Ryback.

The bell rings and they go at it. Ryback with a big boot and down goes Swagger. Ryback slams his head on the mat a few times and then slams him on his face. Swagger drop toe holds Ryback and takes him down with a shoulder. Swagger slams Ryback and yells at him. Ryback blocks the Swagger Bomb in the corner and the ankle lock. Ryback takes Swagger to the corner and unloads on him. Ryback drops Swagger on top of his head and works him over on the mat.

    Winner: Ryback

    - Cole speculates on Triple H, who will speak later tonight. Also tonight, John Cena vs. The Miz in singles action. Lawler says he’s still thinking about facing Punk as we go back to commercial.

    Natalya vs. Layla

Back from the break and Natalya waits in the ring as WWE Divas Champion Layla makes her way out for a non-title match.

We get a look back at last week where Kaitlyn became the new #1 contender. Before the match can begin, Vickie Guerrero comes out. She says the match needs to be over quickly because she has an important announcement. The bell rings and here we go as Vickie screams some more. They lock up and go to the mat while Vickie watches from the steel steps.

More back and forth action. 2 count for Layla. Layla with a crossbody from the corner for another pin attempt. Layla slams Natalya on the back of her head and hits her with the butt bump. Natalya goes for the Sharpshooter but it’s blocked. Natalya comes back in and they go at it. Layla with another roll up. Layla with the kick to the back of the head for the win.

    Winner: Layla

    - After the match, Vickie comes in the ring and tells Layla to be gone. Layla stares her down before exiting the ring. Vickie talks about AJ Lee making the Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler match at last week’s RAW where Jericho had his contract terminated. Vickie isn’t happy about the stipulation of Ziggler’s contract being on the line. Vickie calls it an abuse of power and says it’s unfair. She says nobody on the roster has the guts to speak up to the General Manager except her. Vickie tells the Board of Directors that it’s time to put RAW back in the hands of an adult, someone like her. Not some mentally deranged child like AJ, she says. AJ’s music hits and out she comes.

AJ is all smiles until she smacks Vickie out of nowhere. AJ tackles Vickie and they go at it. Vickie escapes and runs away while AJ looks on and goes back to smiling.

    - Cole and Lawler go back to talking about Triple H. We get a video package of Triple H’s days with DX.

    - Back from the break and we see footage from last week where Daniel Bryan is in an anger management class. Bryan raises his hand and says he doesn’t have issues like the rest of the losers here. A little kid comes in wearing a goat mask and Bryan gets upset. Bryan says he is handsome and wonders who set this up. Bryan calls the kid a brat and yells at him to take the mask off. It turns out the kid is the teachers kid and is playing a goat in his school play.

    - Cole looks at some tweets from actor Dominic Monaghan, tonight’s Social Media Ambassador and star of WWE Studios’ The Day. Cole also shows a tweet from CM Punk where he says he will let Lawler have the first punch if he agrees to fight him. Cole asks Lawler what his decision is. Lawler stands on top of the announcers table and gets a small chant from the crowd. Lawler says the nobodies he beat in Memphis include names like Jesse Ventura, Superstar Billy Graham, Dutch Mantell, Harley Race and others. Lawler goes on and brings up Andy Kaufman. Lawler says he knows he’s not the best in the world but he doesn’t think Punk is either. Lawler says he’s never backed down and he’s not going to start tonight. We go back to the arena and out comes Heath Slater. We see Slater’s Tout talking about how he beat Sin Cara on SmackDown and has a winning streak going now. Out comes his opponent Santino Marella.

There are some chants in the crowd and a few minutes before Triple H speaks. He says everyone wants to know if he’s going to retire. The crowd chants no. Triple H says the one thing he has learned in WWE is to never say never. He says when he started his career he wanted to do two tings – do stuff people wouldn’t forget and to retire before all of this before all of this retired him. He chokes up for a second and says everyone comes to a crossroad in their career. He says you ask yourself if it’s time. He says he never wanted to be the guy who was just hanging out, the guy who hung on too long waiting for the nostalgia pop. He didn’t want to be the guy who was too beat up or crippled inside to hold his own kids. He says Lesnar has made him ask the question, is he done? Triple H says the answer is he doesn’t know. He’s beat up and more tired than he’s ever been.

This past Monday's (Aug. 20, 2012) episode of WWE Raw featured all the fallout from the Summerslam pay-per-view (PPV) event that took place this past Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

That included Alberto Del Rio losing to Randy Orton after World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus interfered. Those three all meet up in this one, and the result may surprise you.

And don't forget about Dolph Ziggler, fresh on the heels of vanquishing Chris Jericho from WWE. He's also still got that Money in the Bank briefcase.

    Tease!

Find out exactly what you'll see this Friday, courtesy of the Wrestling Observer, after the jump.

-- Because of his victory on Raw, Randy Orton came out claiming he was the new number one contender. Sheamus was on board with this as well, seeing as the two were working towards a feud before the Wellness Policy bit "The Viper" in the ass again. Alberto Del Rio wasn't having any of this talk, though, and made clear he was cheated (which he was) and he should be getting another shot at the world title. Booker T, being the fair General Manager he is, made a match between Orton and Del Rio for the main event, winner gets the next shot.

-- Ryback def. Jinder Mahal in his usual manner. The guy is mostly uninteresting but he's over with the fans. Somehow.

-- Layla def. Alicia Fox. Kaitlyn, the number one contender to the Diva's championship, confronted her before Eve Torres showed up. Instead of any shenanigans, she simply raised Layla and Fox's hands, confusing the shit out of everyone.

-- A backstage segment led to Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler getting booked for the main event of the top of the first hour.

-- Heath Slater def. Sin Cara after interference from Cody Rhodes.

-- Santino Marella had a "heart-to-heart" with The Cobra, which led to Antonio Cesaro attacking him and rubbing in his U.S. title win at SummerSlam.

-- Sheamus def. Dolph Ziggler via disqualification after Ziggler used the briefcase as a weapon. He also teased cashing it in afterwards but opted not to do so.

-- Kofi Kingston and R-Truth def. Epico and Primo. Matt Striker asked them after the match who they wanted to face next and this led to an all out brawl. Booker T tried to get some insight from Teddy Long on the situation and Eve showed up to upstage Long by breaking out a list of all the tag teams win-loss records.

-- Del Rio def. Orton in the main event. He did so clean, too, with the Cross Armbreaker. After, ADR brawled with Sheamus and got the better of him. Yet again, Ziggler came out to tease a cash-in but was met with an RKO from Orton.

The report claims that Christian's deal was two part and that this appearance completes the agreement between TNA and WWE to allow Flair to appear at the WWE hall of fame. There was intiaially a push to bring in Ric Flair to induct Sting into the TNA Hall Of Fame but the idea was quickly nixed shortly after his release from the company.

Flair's non-compete with TNA ends on September 6th as it was a 120-day non-compete. Even if there wasn't an ongoing lawsuit where he was named, Flair still could not have worked the 1000th RAW last month. With that lawsuit still up in the air, WWE is afraid to make any direct moves as far as contacting Flair and bringing him back.
There's a feeling that Flair and Matt Morgan would both be in WWE right now if that lawsuit wasn't still going on.

    Rey Mysterio Diagnosed With Concussion

     Rey Mysterio Diagnosed With Concussion
Posted by Dave Mitchell on 08/22/2012 at 05:15 PM

WWE.com announced Wednesday that Rey Mysterio suffered a concussion during his match Sunday against The Miz at SummerSlam.

The website notes that according to a backstage source, WWE personnel “suspected [a concussion] because he hit his head.” The following day, precautionary impact testing was conducted and “showed that [Mysterio] is below baseline, which means he sustained some sort of concussion."

The website has confirmed that Mysterio is not medically cleared to compete at this time. The San Diego native did not appear on Raw or SmackDown, and has been removed from all events through a least this coming weekend.

During the Intercontinental Championship Match, The Miz executed a "brutal sit-down powerbomb" which snapped Mysterio’s head against the canvas. WWE.com attributes the trauma suffered from the maneuver to The Awesome One's successful title defense.

WWE physician Michael Sampson says Mysterio “had the first [test] on Monday, which showed us that he was below baseline. The physical exam was normal, but neuropsych testing was below normal. That’s the beauty of neuropsych testing. Based on reaction time and memory, we can measure on a computer, and he was below his baseline. That saves [Mysterio] from causing further injury from the concussion."

WWE.com has confirmed that Mysterio will not return to the squared circle until he is at baseline and passes an exertion test. "To be determined at baseline, Mysterio must pass the aforementioned impact/neuropsych test later in the week. Only then will he be permitted to undergo exertion testing," the website notes.

WWE.com's backstage source estimates that Mysterio “will probably be taking [the impact test today] if he’s still symptom-free, or later on this week.”

Tyler Reks Releases Statement on Release from WWE

Tyler Reks Releases Statement on Release from WWE
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/22/2012 at 02:52 PM

Tyler Reks posted the following on his Twitter account in regards to his release from WWE.

I just want to say thank you to WWE, Inc. for allowing me to be part of an incredible entertainment experience. On Monday, I asked for my release and the company was gracious enough to grant my request.

I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn't ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots.

I will miss everyone in the locker room tremendously as they have all become a second family to me. I want to thank my coaches and teachers that really helped me along the way: Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Edge, Christian, Kane, Jericho, Dr. Tom, Norman Smiley, and Billy Kidman.

I also want to thank my boys. You know who you are. Especially though, a huge thank you to Hawkins. You were like a brother to me the last year and I'll miss you and will always love you bro. I wish you the best and thanks for understanding that I had to go be a dad. When she's older, and able to realize what happened, I know Mia will thank you as well.

Thanks to all the dedicated fans of #ReksAndHawkins and to The #RekkingCrew. I would never have survived without you.

    WWE Releases A Raw Superstar?

    WWE Releases A Raw Superstar?
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/22/2012 at 02:44 PM

It would appear that WWE has parted ways Raw Superstar Tyler Reks as he is now listed on the company's website Alumi section. As WWE infrequently announces talent departures, this is often seen as a sign that a talent has been parted ways with the sports-entertainment organization.

    David Otunga Is "Unsafe"

    David Otunga Is "Unsafe"
Posted by Steve Carrier on 08/22/2012 at 02:27 PM

    - Former WWE developmental wrestler Marcus Owens issued a negative assessment on David Otunga's working ability after watching him compete on television.

"I swear David Otunga is the most unsafe guy, I've ever seen on TV," he wrote on Facebook. "I'd rather work Sid Vicious back when he was with the IV Horseman...LOL."

This is not the first time where Otunga's wrestling ability has been publicly dismissed by a fellow wrestler. Chris Masters stated during an interview following his release from WWE last year, "He's got two left feet. C'mon, just watch him walk around the ring for five minutes."

    WWE Releasing Crawford

    - As noted before, WWE recently released Christina Crawford from developmental, the sister of Alicia Fox. No reason was given for her release but someone in developmental noted that she always complained about being hurt and didn't have much of a work ethic. This is a bit surprising as she was the current FCW Women's Champion when she was released.
