Pups are moved to the living room. Other dogs have seen them sniffed them and now are used to the situation. Pups can care less where they are as long as they get fed & cuddled!! I am giving them a bottle a day extra of fresh goatsmilk from the farm a few minutes away from here, because I had a feeling Eli didn't have enough milk, so now they love the goat and me and the bottle!! ANd this weekend it is some porridge to teach them to lick instead of suck and then monday the kibbles will start all ground up soaked in water. I put some newspapers in the corner to see what they would do ,well it seems they know exactly what that is for and pee and poop on the newspaper, missing a lot but still, the start is there!!!! They are also interacting with each other in a slow motion way, biting each others head and paws and ears, but no teeth yet and they make noise and bark. Very funny to hear. Anyway all is going well. As the pictures will show. I will split them up in two's.
2 Weeks today already!!! Dewormed, they did not like that, weighed and 2 more days of stimulation program, so a busy morning!! I took those bars out of the whelping box and it seems like they have lots more room, but also they kept getting stuck under there or climbing over them. Eyes are open, even though they really can't see yet. They are also interacting with each other in a very slow motion way, but it won't be long and they will be biting and pulling each others tail. A couple more pictures!!
Ok, back to the puppies again. They are 12 days old today and doing well. Some eyes are starting to open!! Tried to take pictures of that.4 more days of the stimulation program to go and then their eyes should be open and they are ready to discover the "world". Towards the end of next week they get moved into the living room and I will start to give them some real food and then the potty training also will start!!
First a picture of the father and mother of Odin, father of the puppies.Vassruggens Liv Widhsith & Holway Odin, grand mother & father. Then a picture of Kelsey, Halfmoon Destiny of Topbrass, grandmother to the puppies Then a picture of Eli and her father, the mother and grandfather to the pups. Whispering Oaks Dutch Blue and Semper Modesto Bronco
What's with the safety bars?? They are all hanging on them. Cool on there maybe!!! Anyway some pics of the hanging pups. Now, they really know their smells. They love when I come into the whelping box and attack my feet and if I lift them up they lick my face ( they must like my cream, ha, that's girls for you!!) and then when ELi comes in, they are like running around little rats, trying to find MILK!!!! Very international pups as usual: 2 to Sweden, 2 to Holland, (the home country), 2 to Austria, 1 to Switzerland and 1 to Hungary. How lucky can they be, but far away for me, so please mail and lots of pictures please!!!! Now some pictures!!
Noses turning black, eyes, very slowly are opening, and steadily gaining weight, plus the temperature outside is so much nicer, so for Mom and pups also!!!
Ok, first of all I have to get this misunderstanding cleared up!!! When I said "I was going to do nails & tails", that did not mean I was going to cut the tail as in bone!!!! I had several worried people, wondering!!! This is what my friend and I always say: we are going to do nails & tails, which means cut the nails and cut the extra lenght of tail HAIR!!!!! Ok now some more pictures!! Got the summerhome ready for the puppers in a couple weeks when they can spend some time outside during the day!! Today a little cooler and starting tomorrow it will be a lot cooler, like 15 degrees less!! Finally a picture with all of them together!!!
Today puppers are one week old!!! And they have black feet and long nails, which will be cut today and the end of their tails, so they get nice full tails!! And a couple of females are already starting to "open" their eyes. It's like glue, loosening up from the sides!!! Heat is still going strong, so no warming lamp and lots of fresh air with windows open, day & night!!!Just a couple of pictures as not much is changing right now.
Yesterday I needed a rest from computers etc. It was cleaning day and wash and also very hot again, as it will be today!! Today I have some new pictures from this morning!! They all gain about 50 grams a day and move around the whelping box like little race cars!! Enough speed, that is for sure and they scream like crazy if they can't find the milk bar fast enough and then ELi just looks at them!!!!! Yeah right!!! Day 3 of the stimulation program we just did, before it gets to hot!! Enjoy the pictures!!
Yesterday was the worst for Mom and pups. 30 C and no wind. So we had the windows all open and still was 27 c in their room, so put some cottom down instead of the vetbed and luckily today it is a bit cooler, but lots of wind and sunshine.
All is going well!! Pretty active pups and they party at NIGHT!!! Don't they know I need some sleep!! The whelping box is right next to me for 2 weeks, so I can just check them during the night!! And then they get moved in the living area, where they can see and hear all and see the other dogs moving around. Hoping for some great summer weather ,so they can spend lots of time outdoors! In two days their stimulation program starts for 14 days. The link to the program is down below. We already have a name for one of the females: Whispering Oaks Leaf. What a great name!! They all have their collars on, so look pretty spiffy!! And some more pictures. Not too much change yet, these first two weeks!!
