Yesterday was the worst for Mom and pups. 30 C and no wind. So we had the windows all open and still was 27 c in their room, so put some cottom down instead of the vetbed and luckily today it is a bit cooler, but lots of wind and sunshine.
All is going well!! Pretty active pups and they party at NIGHT!!! Don't they know I need some sleep!! The whelping box is right next to me for 2 weeks, so I can just check them during the night!! And then they get moved in the living area, where they can see and hear all and see the other dogs moving around. Hoping for some great summer weather ,so they can spend lots of time outdoors! In two days their stimulation program starts for 14 days. The link to the program is down below. We already have a name for one of the females: Whispering Oaks Leaf. What a great name!! They all have their collars on, so look pretty spiffy!! And some more pictures. Not too much change yet, these first two weeks!!

Puppies are here!! First one born at 1.25 am and the last one at 7.25 am on May 21st 2012. Whispering Oaks L-litter 6 girls-one boy!!! They weigh between 440-511 grams each and look great. See for yourself!!! First one is ELi waiting for things to start!!
After all was cleaned up and mom and puppies had a clean bed, puppy nr. 8 made his appearance. A nice male, so now the final score is 6 girls and 2 boys!!! The vet came by tonight and declared them all healthy and well and mom has to rest a lot after her long, hard labor!!
And more waiting!!! Not much appetite today and just laying very calmly. Took her for a short walk to keep things moving and maybe the puppies!! An Eli 'waiting'' picture and of the whole group laying in the sun last night, including puppies!!!!
A few more days to go!! Eli is getting quite uncomfortable now. She sleeps a lot and for the rest walks around in the yard!! Yesterday she barely ate, but this morning she did finish her whole bowl, so that is good. Her temperature is still normal,so we will see this afternoon, when I take it again. If it drops a whole degree, she will deliver within 24 hours. At least that was with the former litters, so we will see. All is ready!!! Now we rest up for an exciting period to come. Will keep you updated!!! She really is not due until Tuesday, so she still might wait that long!!PATIENCE!!
Today is week 8 and we went for a check-up to the vet, just to make sure all is going to plan and it is,YES!!! She checked out great!! Now all we can do is wait for her to get into action and do the work and get the puppies into this world!!
I had an x-ray taken from Eli's belly and this is the result!!! We are all guessing, but for sure according to the vet, we see 7 little puppers!! Of course no gender is known, so that will still be a surprise!! If anybody else wants to do a guess, let me know!!! Eli is getting very uncomfortable now, especially for some reason at night!! Maybe they are all playing soccer then or something!!! Hang in there about 10 more days!!! A picture of Eli as a puppy so that they turn out big. If i just add one picture,it is really small
Eli is 7 weeks today. So funny, from up top she does not look pregnant, but when from the side and when she lays with all four in the air, WOW!!!! Getting lots of small meals a day, as she can't put much food anyplace! Her walking is getting slower also. She starts out real active, but then at a certain point, she slows down. Also a card that a friend send me and that will put everyone in the puppy mood!!!
I found these pictures on my laptop and thought it would be fun to share on the blog. Semper Modesto Bronco , father to Eli out of Kelsey's first litter in 2004. Bronco is alive and kicking and lives with his owner Oliver, in Hungary, who I see and hear of regularly. And Whispering Oaks Dutch Blue-Eli, named after her grand father FC AFC OTCH Topbrass Ascending Elijah.
Pictures of Eli this morning, playing frisbee, which she loves and great exercise and then she decided that the pups needed cooling off, so down she went to swim to the other side of the river. The outside temperature was -1, a little chilly, but not for her I guess!!!
Now that I know that puppies are expected ,here is some more information!! The birth date is expected around may 22nd and then the puppies can go to their new homes July 10th , depending on the actual birthdate, but at 7 weeks they are allowed to leave. They will be chipped, vaccinated with their first puppy shot at 6 weeks, checked by my vet, get their petpasport, which is an important document nowadays, as that is what you need when you cross any border with your dog and it has all the information in it about your dog. Puppypack with a kilo of puppyfood and information booklet ect. I will have a bag of 18 kilo puppyfood for you to take, so for the first 4 months the puppy is on the same food and you won't have any digestive problems. After that is finished you can decide if you want to change!! They will be de-wormed at 2,4 and 6 weeks!! And the PEDIGREE which takes about 4 months and I will send to you. As of April 1st you can choose to have your puppies DNA done and you will receive a dna card and on his pedigree it will say parents dna certified and a form with his whole dna profile.
The link above is the program I start when the puppies are 3 days old and will do for 14 days. You can read all about the exercises and what it is supposed to do.
About the name: Belgium has the rule that this year the name has to start with the letter L. 3 letter minimum, 10 maximum, one word. So it should be Whispering Oaks L........ Today is week 4 and Eli is acting like a pregnant lady, picking at her food, so she gets several smaller portions a day and very clingy to me, yet when we are out, she is ready to work which we do daily and is good exercise for her. She will let me know when it is time to stop and just go for walks, which is usually around week 7.
