So sorry... the first new info on this new page is bad news... We just came home from the vetshospital, major problems in Mausies broken leg.
The surgeon at Hospital Veterinario JG has reserved all morning
tomorrow for the new operation, opening it up again, putting new
internal fixator in and outside fixator. We have to start from zero...
So we were home just in time because the truck with the alfalfa for the horses arrived.
Later I suddenly had the urge to go back with Mausie to the clinic... I wanted to have a bloodcheck before the OP of tomorrow.
And as Boomer needed to have his monthly check in a few days, I just took him with us ... he had a echografy, and blood and urine were taken for the tests

January 6 is an official Holiday in Spain. It s the day when the kids get their presents, often being a puppy...
Yes a puppy and most of them get abundant by april (it has become too big for their apartment) and if not... by summer when they want to go on Holiday and don t want to pay for a doghotel in case they can t take it with them. In other cases it is dumped in their weekendplace...on a chain getting food 1 or twice a week...
Well let s stay positive, we are certain that every year less pups are given for January 6...
Today we had the visit from our farrier and his vet who came to vaccinate the Whispering Ranch horses;
For the first time in all these years I have choosen another vet to do this than my regular vets from the Horseclinic. Why ? II ll be honest... for the MONEY.
The clinic charges me DOUBLE of what this other vet charges
We are a Registrered Charity and up to now I ve have been paying all the bills from my own pocket... I just can 't be pulling money from out of a box.
I am sorry for the vet of the clinic, but I just can 't spend so much...
As Jorge was there too, he did Punkies feet (every 10-14 days)

So we went to the vets for a check up and to take the last of the bandages off.
Still neurological problems with the leg and she can't use it at all. All the wounds on the other hand have healed well
On Thursday she will also need to have new pins inserted in the
broken femur to help it furtheron with support during the healingproces,
otherwise it could snap.
I needed a little nappy time on surrogat mama' s legs this afternoon on my new froggy blanket Eva bought me today
Out this morning to Torremanzanas to make a friend happy with a full load of horse manure.
Cut some trimming up to take home ... a bit of wood to dry and to use next winter.
A pàrt from that... I' m thinking and listening to WhiteShark Rudy and to the message he tought me and sure many others too... Brenda's STAR will Always shine...
A great & fantastic (as usual) Whiteshark can be seen and heard in this video xxx http://youtu.be/FdWaU0kHIDM

OK as you know I do not like to put ugly pictures up, but as it is a look back into the past... I can 't put any cute ones up from back then, so bear with me please ...
She was blind when I saved her, pus and blood coming out of her eyes.
(for info look back on the blog in december 2009)
When I saved her I thought I should bring her to the vet to be put asleep as she could not stand up anymore, but she told me...GO home, I want to live, Help me and I will get better, trust me,...
So I listened to her and took her home on Dember 13, 2009 and treated
her up to 6 times a day with eyedrops, apart from Photonic therapy and
daily injections... never giving up and this for more then a month every day.
For over a week my neighbours and I had to lift her from the floor several times a day as she was too weak to get up herself.
But she never gave up so I did neither !!!
And how right we were to not give up`on her...
Once fit, Filly got her eyesight back and the vet could not even find any residue marks in her eyes, no scars, nothing.
She is a superlady that moved to Holland to go and life with Willy
who became a very dear friend of mine (she also adopted rescue dog Dina and Yuca
Aka Nubi and is taking care of rescue horse Preston as long as he does not find his
perfect partner.
To read more about Filly, just typ in her name on the left white search bar.

Well big news.... I went to the clinic with Mausie the 1st and got home with Mausie the 2nd .... Let me explain
So we had to be at Hospital veterinario JG in Mutxamel at 11 am.
As usual I was on time and as usual I was with Mausie the whole time, yep also in the operationtheater...
Juan first checked her out and looked once again how she was walking.
Taking the whole metal structure off and out was not supposed to happen for a little while yet, but we had to do something to find out what was going on in that leg of her.
So we discussed it and tested the leg while she was under the influence of the Propofol;
Pushing close to the wound puss was still coming out and it was clear... removing it all was the only option today;
Is she healed ? no, not yet. Can it go wrong ? Yes it can and maybe we have to operate internally again and cut the leg open.
Right now I will try to keep her maintaned, meaning she can walk free in the house but no running outside or what so ever. If she stumbles or so she could break the femur again so we' ll have to be carefull.
The next 2 weeks will tell us how this will be evolving and how the ROM (Range of Motion) of the leg will be and if another OP will be necessary.
Main thing is to save that leg of her so she will use it again and will run on all 4 later on.
And Mausie ? well she changed instantly after waking up. She was so glad to see me at her bed when opening her little eyes.
And her eyes are shining now, she was even friendly with my neighbour...
Yes she is in a bit of pain now, but I am there for her and so is my Photonic torch...
It is starting to be hard to keep my heart closed for this little girl, but I have too ! She deserves a family of her own later when she will be fit again !
I also have another big surprise coming soon, so keep looking at our blog !
PS. Did some teeth checking at the same time: a pic from 24/11 and one from today... our little girl is changing babyteeth
