It has not been easy... but I had to make the decision...before it's too, TOO late.
The horses have to go.
Why ?
# 1. Healthy & ready to leave: when I saved them in 2009 they were supposed to only stay a few months untill strong enough and then leave for Holland, Belgium and Germany where they were supposed to be adopted.
Meanwhile they have been here + 5 years ...they have been mentally and physically ready for a long time !!!
# 2. Workload: I am alone... to do it all since... FOREVER...
Since last summer, after I hurt my both shoulders for weeks in attempts to help Punkie with his canker in his feet,
I can't do the cleaning or work anymore alone so I have been obliged to get help.
Apart from a few hours for free from a student (in exchange for others hours of me teaching him) all the rest of the help is paying.
In the last 8 months the helper has earned more than I make myself a month.
# 3. Paradise: just the other day a friend of mine said:
Eva I can't take him away from you, I can't offer such freedom, running around etc.
Well, I saved these horses when I had a broken back, it was already clear I would never ride again.
So these horses may live in what you call a Paradise, still I can't offer them what they need.
They need their partner to play with, to do stuff with, to go on long walks etc.
A relation 1 on 1.
# 4. Debts: I have tried to do it alone... but I am +60.000 lighter now.
I tried to get help, even made a legal charity, but it has not solved the problem in paying for their food and vetbills at all.
Just last month we tried another system via teaming.com with a donation of just 1 a month to cover some costs, but that was also in vain.
I can't save them all... I will be going down.
My money, my pension is lost forever,
I will not loose my ranch too so I'm saying STOP here and now.
T
he horses have to go...they will be sold to hopefully cover the debts the charity made in the last 2 years.
The horses have to be gone before the end of summer to give them the chance to make enough winterhair in their future homes.
They are all insured for 3000 in case of death and 4.000-4500 in hospital bills.
Future owners can continue this insurance with Lloyds, but I will not renew it in June.
