Calista is echt Erwin zijn meisje....'s avonds loopt ze zich de benen onder haar lijf uit om toch maar als eerste bij hem in de zetel te liggen! Als ik dan tegen mijn ventje wil aankruipen, kijkt ze mij boos aan en wringt zolang tot ik mij verleg en als een van de andere katten bij hem ligt gaat ze er gewoon boven op liggen! Ze kijkt hem dan ook altijd spinnend aan,...echte liefde die 2!
The RagaMuffin Associated Group (RAG) was organized by a
group of breeders who sought recognition of the breed by recognized cat
associations.The purpose of the club is
the protection, preservation and promotion of the RagaMuffin, while advancing
the breed to Championship status in various registries.All activities of the club are for the
furtherance of the breed, based on those criteria.In keeping with those goals, the breeders of
RAG agree to adhere to the following minimum standards.
·I agree that since the
RagaMuffin is a rare breed, furthering the interests of the RagaMuffin,
(including the health and safety of breed stock and litters) shall always be my
primary consideration.Any other gain
shall be secondary.I will neither sell
nor represent cats not registered with RAG, or another RAG approved registry, as
RagaMuffins.I agree to breed
discriminately and only upon strong evidence of the potential for finding
suitable homes for the kittens.
·I agree to maintain a high
standard of health and care including adequate room for exercise, regular
grooming, clean quarters and adequate food and water.
·I agree to keep adequate
records of all matings and pedigrees and to register breeding stock and litters
with RAG and at least one recognized cat registry approved by RAG.
·I shall report all births,
deaths and birth deformities to RAG. These records will be made available only
for legitimate reasons and only with my permission.I shall euthanize
any kitten with a deformity incompatible with a happy, comfortable
life.
·I will have all breeding cats
tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids.
·I shall not breed a female
until she is at least a year old unless she has been in season twice.I will not purposely breed any female more
than three times in two years.Any
female who has severe birthing problems will be altered.
·I shall offer stud service
only to owners of queens approved by the RagaMuffin Associated Group Board.I will refuse to sell to, buy from, or
recommend breeders who do not conform to this code, or a similar code, or cat
wholesalers and retailers.I will not
donate a RagaMuffin for raffle purposes, or buy or sell in litter
lots.
·I shall discourage the
declawing of any kitten or cat.
·Before selling a kitten as a
breeder, I shall ascertain that the buyer is fully aware of the ramifications of
breeding:expenses, necessary
facilities, time involved in care, good placement of kittens and
responsibilities to buyers and other breeders.
·I shall encourage the
breeder/buyer to join RAG.
·I shall ascertain that all
buyers know how to care for a cat or kitten, and make myself available to give
advice.
·I will give buyers an honest
appraisal of a kittens potential as a pet, breeder or show cat.All breeder/show kittens shall be sold with a
written guarantee stating the sellers responsibility should the kitten prove to
be sterile or develop a genetic defect which prevents breeding or showing.(Example:monorchidism)The course of action to be taken by each breeder in such a matter should
be specified in the guarantee.(Example:refund, replacement,
disposition of cat, etc.)
·I will supply a receipt for
all deposits received which states what happens if a buyer changes his
mind.(Example:money forfeited, immediate refund, returned
when kitten is sold, etc.)
·A limited pedigree will be
provided with pet kittens, but registration forms will be withheld until the
breeder receives a veterinarians certificate of altering.All breeder/show kittens will have pedigrees
and registration forms provided with them.
·I will not sell kittens until
they are 12 weeks old.
·Before a kitten is sold it
must receive immunizations for feline enteritis, rhinotraceitis, calicivirus and/or
those deemed appropriate by the attending veterinarian, for its age.
·Kittens shall be free of all external and internal
parasites (worms, fleas, ear mites, fungus, etc.)
·Alter owners will be
encouraged to join RAG to foster compilation of information as well as
networking.
·Advertising, written or oral,
shall be factual and not worded so as to encourage breeding as an easy way to
make money.
·I agree to guard the
reputation of all RAG breeders with as much zeal as my
own.
·I will promptly report any
known violation of the Code of Ethics to a RAG Board Member.Upon sufficient evidence, disciplinary action
may be taken by the Board of Directors as determined by the RAG
Bylaws.
·RAG very strongly recommends
that all transactions and agreements be in writing.This includes stud service agreements,
buyers requirements, breeders guarantee for kittens, leasing of cats, deposits
for kittens, etc.RAG also recommends
that all monies be paid by check.Receipts should be issued for all payments.

Eindelijk....hier ben ik dan met mijn verhaal over Penny haar bevalling! Maandag was het dus zo ver om 20 uur. Ze had weeën, maar 2.5 uur later was dit nog steeds het geval. Daar we geen ricico's wouden nemen hadden we de dierenarts laten komen, ze had een knipje nodig om de kopjes erdoor te laten. Eens dit gebeurt was ging het haast van zelf! 6 prachtige schatjes! 3 mink en 3 points. Het was een lange nacht, maar meer dan waard! Ashanti hield gans de tijd de wacht aan de deur als trotse vader! Ondertussen hebben we ook 11 pups en dus voel ik me echt moeder! Deze geeft ik nog een flesje bij omdat ze met zoveel zijn, maar ze groeien als kool. De zorgen voor de kittens zijn voorlopig helemaal voor Penny en ze doet dat prima. Kijk er naar uit als ze wat ouder zijn! Even voor de beestjes gaan zorgen, straks meer!

I just thought you would like to know that I heard back from Animal Planet and
the executives have approved using Kyra and her kittens for an episode. Actually,
they follow the kittens from a few days after birth until they are 10 weeks
old. I am excited for the RagaMuffin, as I think it will be more exposure
for our breed. When I get details on the date they think it will air, I
will share it with everyone. Kyra is due to deliver any day now.
I thought you all might get a kick out of this tidbit. Animal Planet
wants Nougat, as the daddy of the litter, to be in the shoot. The
associate producer asked me if Kyra and Nougat got along, and I said yes.
Then he asked me what kind of things they like to do together :). I told
him that would be an X-rated version of "Too Cute." :).
Mijn vraag aan de president van het RAG: Zijn er erfelijke ziektes bekend bij de RagaMuffins? Haar antwoord maakte me erg blij en best wel trots om bij deze groep te horen:

RagaMuffins. We've been careful, from the earliest days, to stop any
lines that showed a genetic weakness and also to maintain a genetic diversity
that also helps us to maintain the RagaMuffin as a robustly healthy cat.
I love the photos, Natalie -- especially the
background color!! Very unique and I don't believe I've ever seen it
available here in the States. It's gorgeous and wonderful with your
kitties.
Penny stelt het goed, we kunnen stilletjes beginnen af te tellen naar de kittens... Ze wandelt nog voldoende rond, eet goed, rust voldoende, kortom een prima zwangerschap. Ik geef toe, ik ben best nerveus, het eerste nestje hier...we proberen ons zo goed mogelijk voor te bereiden...Alles staat klaar, de werpkist, de dekentjes, voeding,het park voor de kittens, enz... Hoop dat jullie allemaal mee duimen voor een goede bevalling en een gezond nestje. Hier nog de foto's van de shoot, is ze niet prachtig!?
Just wanted to let you know that Animal Planet has a show called "Too
Cute." In it they show the development of different breeds of dogs
and cats from birth through maybe 10 weeks of age. You can see clips from

One of their advance people called yesterday, and they want to do a segment on
RagaMuffin kittens. This is great news for us, as I'm sure it will result
in even more interest in our 'Muffins, as we had happen with the Cats 101
RagaMuffin segment.
Because they want to film kittens as they develop over several weeks, they
wanted a breeder within driving distance of New York, so I put them in touch
with Kathy Hyneman, who is a little more than 2 hours away, and I also gave
them the URL to our Breeder's List & also pointed out that Pat Messner is
in CT (so maybe they will contact her, as well). They've been in touch
with Kathy already, and she has kittens on the way in the timeframe they
wanted, so hopefully they will begin filming in a month or two.
Last time, with Cats 101, it was 6 or 8 months from filming to air time, so we
shouldn't hold our breaths, but I wanted to let you know that we are excited
about this upcoming exposure for our 'Muffins.
Fairy (onze jongste RagaMuffin) heeft haar ritueeltjes ontwikkeld. Elke morgen als ik beneden kom staat ze me op te wachten, ze leid me naar de sofa en knuffelt me ongelofelijk veel, daarna gaat het richting voederbak :) Maar zo grappig dat ze moeite doet om me de zetel eerst in te krijgen en de andere staan ondertussen al in de keuken te draaien voor het eten. In de avond komt ze miauwend naar de zetel, ze draait rond op de zetel en laat zich strelen en ze geeft kopjes, daarna nestelt ze zich in een lekkere fleecedeken op mijn schoot en begint te spinnen en te kneden...zo zalig en dit elke avond opnieuw! Haar vachtje voelt als zijde zo zacht en nu ik hier aan de lap-top zit komt ze me al opzoeken want het is eigenlijk tijd voor het zeteltje....zal maar luisteren zeker!
* een reismand, riet of kunststof met een stevig deurtje, onmisbaar voor het vervoer in de auto. * een mand: een gezellige mand met deken of kussen, zorg wel dat voor een kitten de rand niet te hoog is. * voederbakje: stevig aardewerk of plastic met een vlakke bodem. * waterbakje: idem voederbakje. * slaapmand: gemaakt van gewatteerde stof, eventueel met voering van kunstbont, wasbaar... Al meer geschikt voor de zindelijke kat. * kattenbak met schep. * metalen kam met makkelijk vast te houden handvat. *zachte borstel: zowel voor kortharige als langharige katten.
Vooruit plannen: Het is verstandig om van tevoren wat aandacht te besteden aan een aantal praktische zaken, zoals waar u de voedrbakjes, kattenbak en mand gaat neerzetten. Wanneer het eenmaal zover is dat u de nieuwe aanwinst welkom kunt heten, komt u in alle opwinding niet meer aan toe. TIP: zet voederbakjes nooit naast de kattenbak, katten zijn hygiënisch ingesteld en houden er niet van om naast hun kattenbak te eten.
Five RagaMuffins at the Bedford & Cambridge Cat shows today. All were awarded Merits and did well in their side classes. It was a back to back show so all, except one, gained two Merits each! Cheham Mysterious Girl and Cheham Florence both achieved their 4th qualifying Merit, so congratulations to both. The miscelanious classes were HUGE and the Muffins were placed high, so congratulations to all involved
Shoot door Marc en Bettina voor het tijdschrift 'WOEF'
Gisteren was het dan eindelijk zo ver! Fotoshoot van onze RagaMuffins voor de WOEF! En nu klikte het ook nog super goed met de fotograaf en zijn vrouw, Marc en Bettina, zelf fokkers van de geweldige Cornish Rex-katten. Het begon met de hele handel uit hun auto...we hadden achteraf net een profesionele fotostudio thuis . Ik was toch een beetje bang dat de katten niet gingen meewerken, maar toen Bettina eenmaal haar trucjes bovenhaalde waren we vertrokken! Marc kon zijn fototoestel laten gaan en inderdaad wat een verschil met mijn fotokunsten! Wat ik al gezien heb was zo leuk, zalig ze zo profesioneel te zien glimmen, onze schatjes! Ben erg benieuwd naar het resultaat en natuurlijk naar de reacties van de lezers! In juni is het dus zover! Alleen de keuze maken tussen onze schatjes gaat moeilijk zijn, wie gaat met de eer lopen...mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar Penny omdat zij op haar leeftijd alle kenmerken van de RagaMuffin al naar voren draagt. Na de foto's hebben we er nog een leuk onderonsje van gemaakt met taart en koffie! Time flies when you are in good company! Maar extra vroeg uit de veren vandaag om onze RagaMuffins hun haar te doen voor de foto's straks. Alles mooi in de plooi ;-) Ons Pennytje is een ferme zwangere dame aan het worden! Net een klein voetballetje, ! En eten dat ze kan, we hebben haar nu ook op kittenvoer staan en natuurlijk haar porties vers vlees, zodat ze niks te kort komt. Nu gauw een douchke en dan aftellen naar vanavond, hoop dat ze een beetje zin hebben om te blijven zitten! Meer hierover in volgende post! xx
Penny stelt het prima...ze komt goed bij, ons knuffeltje. Ze zoekt ook een rustig plekje om te slapen, zoals in de krappaal aan de raam, lekker in de warme zon en vaak vind je haar in de typische RagaMuffin-houding: op haar rug, lekker relax en dan haar buikje laten strelen . Zo een verrassing heeft Ashanti ons gegeven, potverdikke en wij maar denken dat hij nog maar aan het oefenen was ! ...maar tegelijk maak ik me al zorgen, hoop dat alles goed gaat, wil niet dat mijn troetel moet afzien.We gaan haar super in de watten leggen.
Ondertussen hebben we al de beste wensen vanuit Oostenrijk gekregen...Iris is mijn steun en toeverlaat in dit hele proces...
