Day 135 - day 136
BOSTON!!!
It is an amazing city, I liked it so much. It is
completely different than New York, though. People say it looks like a
european city. All weekend in Boston with my bestie, Muriel. We saw so many things: The Boston Tea Party ship, Quincy Market, Boston Garden, Harvard, MIT University, and much more.
I
loved Harvard! That is one huge campus. You go thinking how big the EF
campus and than you arrive on the campus of Harvard, your idea suddenly
sinks deep into the ground. It is huge!

Happy New Year, everyone!!! Yesterday I went to the ball drop om times square!! My roommate and I waited 13 hours for it in the freezing cold but it was amazing!!! At 6PM the ball went up, there was a ceremony and fire works! from that moment on there was live music from Taylor Swift, Magic, Idina Menzel, O.A.R., American Authors, Florida Georgia Line. they gave scarfs, gloves, hats, ... away. almost every hour there was confetti or huge balloons. All evening long there were countdowns for othe countries, so I was able to do the countdown from belgium aswell. the surprise host was Kat Graham, also known as Bonnie from the Vampire Diaries. One
minute before midnight the sixty second countdown started and at
midnight there was confetti like I had never seen before and fire works.
It was amazing!!!
For the people who are planning on going, this is what you need to know: -Do not bring a backpack, you can't take it with you. Just put your stuff in a plastic back and don't bring to much. -You can't go to the bathroom. -If you want a good spot, make sure you'll be there around 11AM, I know you have to wait a long time but it is all woth it! -You're waiting in the freezing cold so bring a blanket or something, it helps alot.
This evening was amazing! I spent christmas eve together with my bestfriends/ roommates. We ate filled mushrooms, brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes. It was deliscious! After that we opened our presents, played ellen degeneres's game, heads up and talked a lot. I felt so blessed to be able to spend christmas eve with them.
One more week and it is christmas, and New York is getting ready for it. Well, New York was already ready in Nevember but okay. The houses are amazingly decorated. The huge christmas tree infront of rockerfeller centre is amazing! just amazing!
This week I had to work on my photography project. My project was about portrait pictures. I went to Tarrytown to take some pictures of random people. I liked it, it was so interesting. And I am pretty happy with the result.
My first Thanksgiving was amazing!! I had to wake up at 5AM to go to the parade in New York! We arrived at 6.30AM, we thought we were early but there were already so many people. When
there is a parade in New York it is horrible to walk around, You cannot
cross any street, when you ask a police officer if you can cross, they
something like ' you have to go to 42th street' and than you think
'alright, that is only two blocks away.' So you arrive at 42th street
and ask another police officer if you can cross, they answer with the
sentence 'You have to go to 44th street.' alright a little more annoyed
you try to walk two more blocks. You finally arrive and again you ask if
you can cross the street and they answer with the horrible sentence
'You have to walk to 42th street." After an hour of trying to find a decent spot where we could see, we finally found one, we had to wait a long time. The
parade was amazing, the floats were so big, I mean I knew they were big
but I didn't expect them to be that big. Huge. Beautiful. I wanted to
take a lot of pictures but it was freezing cold and snowing so my
hands were frozen. I saw a lot a lot of celebrities, just like: Lucy Hale, Nick Jonas, Idina Menzel, Meghan trainor, ...

After the amazing parade, I went to a host family for a thanksgiving dinner. The family was so nice, there were a lot of people, 6 little children, and 12 adults. the food was great; turkey, salmon, yam, brussels sprouts, cranbery sauce, salade, stiffing, ... and the desert was; pumkin pie, pecan pie, chocolat pecan pie, apple pie, ice cream, ...
I went with my roommate/best friend, Victoria. Our day began when we took the train to Manhattan at 10AM. When we arrived we walked to a vegan restaurant, Peacegood Cafe. The food was so good, better than the food of the cafeteria. I ate a paninni and Victoria a pizza. After we had to hurry for our tickets for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. We only had a reservation for the show, they overbook every show to make sure they have a full room. luckily we were still early. We had to go to the second floor of rocker feller center. We waited for about 45 minutes. we got our tickets! We could go back outside but we had to make sure we were back an hour later. It was the longest hour of my life. Some had letters on there ticket and some had numbers. We had the letter 'L' on our ticket. After the loungest hour, we had to go back, wait, go through metal detectors, wait, and than we could go to the seventh floor, where the studio was. The studio was beautiful but for some reason smaller than I expected. We were sitting in the fourth row, we had the perfect view, we were lucky because the people who were sitting on the first, second or third row couldn't see a thing because of all the camera's. After half an hour the show started, 'The Roots' (The band) were amazing, and Jimmy Fallon was so funny, my cheeks started to hurt because I couldn't stop laughing. There were two guests Bill O'Reilly and Lorde! It was amazing and at the end Lorde performed her song 'Yellow Flicker Beat' It was absolutely amazing!!
Santa Claus is coming to town, so New York is getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year. CHRISTMAS!!! It is quit early but it happened. Christmas trees, lights, decorations everywhere. It's beautiful!
This was a great week, my mom visited me! We hadn't seen eachother in two whole months, It was amazing!
We did so much, walked around, went on top of the rock, the battery park, brooklyn bridge, stardust,... we did everything we could do in 7 days. At that time it was halloween, one day I walked around with my face painted like Day of the Dead, and the other day I was dressed up as Maleficent! When we went to the Halloween parade we saw... Whoopi Goldberg!!! The second celebrity I have seen!!! It was absolutely amzing. The two guys we stayed with were so cool, we directly felt like home.
This was the last friday in this level, thursday I had my progress test. I was in level B2.3 (Upper intermediate) and now I'm going to C1.1 (Advanced) So for our last friday in B2.3, we baked! We baked apple pie, apple candy, pancakes, french toast and we made milk shake. It was so much fun, I have the best class ever :)
This was the best day of my life!!! I met Neil Patrick Harris today!!! Can you believe that!! For those who don't know him, he plays Barney in How I met Your Mother. This is the best show ever, so please, do yourself a favor and watch it :)
So, directly after class finished, I went to New York. It was a around 5.30 PM, me and a good friends arrived at Barnes and Noble (A famous bookstore at Union Square), Neil Patrick Harris wrote a book and he was there to promote it and sign it. We bought our book and went in line. We waited four hours and a half but it was worth it. I wasn't allowed to take a picture with him, but it was amazing!!!
I had a great sunday at New York, with my amazing friends :) First we went to The High Line, it is beautiful to walk there. Later we rented some bikes, and biked through central park, wich is only getting more and more beautiful in tha fall. And than we went to Brooklyn, to have dinner at 'thai thai'. It was so good, finaly good food again!
Because it is EF's 50th aniversery, there is a competition between all EF school from all over the world. Every school has to make a dance video, on this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U9dQS5mqks&index=55&list=WL I was one of the dancers, we went to New York to flash mob dance. It was so cool, but there were a lot of place where we got kicked out by the police, like Grand Central and Rockerfeller Centre.
I did some amazing things in New York. First me and my friends had lunch in an amazing restaurant. Ellen's Stardust Diner is a restaurants where broadway actors work if they don't have a show at that time. So the waiters sing broadway song while they give your food. It is amazing. We also wanted to go to Central Perk ( the cafe from in 'friends', it opened very recently) but when we got there you had to wait for 3 hours to get in. So we are planning to go back an other time.
FIELD DAY!!! We didn't had any class today. It was the fourth annual field day. We
were put in groups, the theme was monsters so I was in the group called
'The Mummies' and in those groups we could choose between; body
(sports), mind (quizzes) and heart (dancing). I chose heart, I liked
it but we didn't get enough time to think about a routine and we had to
perform for the entire school, wich was a little awkward.
But I also got amazing news. My next door neighbour and I really wanted to go to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. We
knew that the tickets for november, would come online at 11.30 AM, the
tickets are always sold out within two minutes BUT WE GOT THEM!!! Two tickets for november 25th! We're so excited!!!
