visit Athens
Beside hanging out in the RC, the first week I also visited Athens (as I was staying there) and went out with Victoria, Vivi and their friends. Athens is such a busy, crazy city. Compared to some years ago, it looks like the population doubled. Every hour of the day, you see lots of traffic, crowded busses, metros and trams, people going out and hanging around on the streets. Despite the crisis, people still go out and spend money, as we would lock ourselves up and being afraid of spending money. I wonder how it will be next winter, as it looks like people don't care at the moment and just enjoy summertime. Although Athens is very busy, you don't see a lot of tourists. From what I've heard, there are about 2000 overnight stay cancellations a day and since tourism is very important for Greece... During my stay, there were no demonstrations but you can still see many banners in the streets.

After a good sleep, I decided to visit the Rescue Center again. After being fed up with that place 2 years ago, I was quite excited and looking forward to it. Once arrived, some volunteers including Pavlo (RC coordinator) were out to release 4 turtles (first ones this year). In general, the RC still looks, feels (and smells ) the same as before although some positive changes were done. As there were not many turtles (20) but a lot of volunteers (9), I didn't worked with the turtles this time. Though I spend a few days and nights here, hanging out with the volunteers from Sweden, Finland, Holland, Austria, England, Germany and Greece.
23 may, I went back to Greece to see some friends and to visit some new places. Once arrived in Athens, I met Victoria who guided me around and took me to Vivi's apartement where I would spend a few days. Both took care of me and treated me like a VIP, many thanks for that!
