Na de afgelopen dagen, waar we nog dreven op de energie die vrijgekomen was door het gevoel de Alpen bedwongen te hebben, zouden we het vandaag wat rustiger aandoen.
Of dit en bewuste of een door onze vermoeidheid opgedrongen keuze was laten we aan u over. In ieder geval reden we tot de middagpauze 44km en deden ons dan te goed aan, wat dacht u, een pasta-schotel. Het vertrekken nadien kostte wel wat moeite en omdat het vandaag een vlakke etappe was, doorspekt met flink wat hellingen met als kroon op het werk een beklimming van 1,5km van 10% rees toch zeer snel de idee om het na een 65km voor bekeken te houden. Bij navraag in een lokale bar in Una bleek er na een vijftal kilometers een Agriturismo (Italiaans voor wat wij in Vlaanderen een B&B noemen). Inderdaad na enkele kilometers zagen we een bord hangen met daarop de aankondiging dat er op 200m een overnachtingsplaats was met bovendien de mogelijkheid om er te eten. Ideaal zo leek het ware het niet dat de weg er naar toe bedekt was met los grind en dat de 200m de dichterlijke vrijheid van de uitbater bleek te zijn voor 500m. Aangekomen bleek deze Agriturismo een mix te zijn van kinderboerderij, verkooppunt van lokale specialiteiten, waaronder wijn, honing, alle mogelijke confituren en vers fruit. Daarenboven is het de lokale trattoria waar het hele dorp, al etend en kaartend zijn zaterdagnamiddag en -avond doorbrengt. Vanuit onze locatie kijken we, zoals Mozes naar het beloofde land keek, uit op de Po-vlakte die we morgen via haar poort, Verona, zullen betreden en waar we de volgende 300km zullen toeven in een uitermate vlak, doch vruchtbaar landbouwgebied.
