Huge News on Steve Austin Return Match for WWE
Huge News on Steve Austin Return Match for WWE

WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin revealed to Zoo Magazine while promoting his DVD release of "Recoil" that he may have another WWE match or two left in him. Here is what he had to say.

"If the right situation, the right opponent and the right circumstances came up for the WWE, then it would certainly be something worth considering. Could I have another match or two? Yeah. Physically I am in really good shape right now. People seem to think I am half-dead!... In my movies, I do some pretty hellacious fight scenes that, maybe, a normal person couldn’t do. So my physicality is fine, my neck is fine after having it all fused-up. I am not pitching for another match but if it was a win-win situation for everybody, then absolutely, I would consider it."

Location: The O2 Arena in London, England

    Quick results:

    CM Punk def. Mark Henry
    Santino Marella def. David Otunga
Brodus Clay def. Dolph Ziggler by DQ
Big Show & The Great Khali def. Primo & Epico
    Lord Tensai def. John Cena

WWE Champion CM Punk def. Mark Henry
In their third meeting in as many weeks, WWE Champion CM Punk put his title on the line against Mark Henry in London in a No Count-Out, No Disqualification Match. With both Superstars taking full advantage of the match stipulation, they went to war.

At one point, Punk acquired a steel chair and blasted Henry with a thunderous shot to the mid section. But when The Straight Edge Superstar went for another shot, Henry countered with a big boot to the gut and smashed him with the chair. As their battle waged on, the champion avoided a World’s Strongest Slam with a kick to the head then a running high knee. But when Henry battled back and charged at Punk in the corner, he ran headfirst into a steel chair when Punk ducked out of the way. With The World’s Strongest Man down, Punk leaped from the top rope and bashed Henry with steel chair to retain his WWE Championship.

Chris Jericho accused WWE Champion CM Punk of drinking in a London pub
After CM Punk’s successful title defense against Mark Henry, Chris Jericho revealed the two would square off at Extreme Rules in a Chicago Street Fight. Jericho then accused Punk of drinking earlier in the day at a London pub. Punk vehemently denied Jericho’s claim and urged Jericho to come to ring and smell his breath. After calling Punk’s straight edge lifestyle a façade, Jericho declared that Punk is gong to lose his WWE Championship at Extreme Rules. Before Punk could respond, Jericho vanished from the arena screen.

United States Champion Santino Marella def. David Otunga
In a fight between former WrestleMania tag team captains, Santino’s United States Championship was up for grabs. Early in the bout, it looked like Otunga was about to pin Santino and capture the title, but Santino cleverly put his leg on the ropes to break the hold. Later, following the quick thinking move, Santino relied on his trusty Cobra to down Otunga and preserve his title.

Brock Lesnar revealed why he’s back in WWE
In an exclusive interview with WWE, Brock Lesnar recalled the successes he’s enjoy in high school and college athletics, all the way through WWE and UFC. The three-time – and youngest WWE Champion ever – said he’s back in WWE because beating people up makes him happy. He’ll have his chance when he squares off with John Cena at Extreme Rules in a no-disqualification, no count-out Extreme Rules Match.

John Laurinaitis announced a mystery opponent for John Cena
Concerned that his WrestleMania loss could have been the end of his era, John Cena emphatically declared that he will fight Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules and overcome any fear he has of him. To give everyone a taste of what is to come in what he calls the “People Power” era, Raw and Smackdown General Manager John Laurinaitis announced John Cena would face a mystery opponent in an Extreme Rules Match on Raw Supershow. The GM also revealed there will be an Extreme Rules contract signing between John Cena and Brock Lesnar during next Mondays special three-hour Raw SuperShow starting at 8/7 CT on USA Network.

Brodus Clay def. Dolph Ziggler by Disqualification
Brodus Clay made a grand entrance by dancing his way to the ring with the Funkettes. Vickie Guerrro then heralded in Dolph Ziggler. When Jack Swagger interfered in the bout, it ended in an immediate disqualification. After the chaotic ending, Vickie found herself standing sandwiched between Clay and one of the Funkettes. Clearly uncomfortable with her position, she high-tailed it out of the ring. That was the perfect queue for Clay and the Brodus and the Funkettes to engage in a celebratory dance.

IC Champ Big Show & The Great Khali def. WWE Tag Team Champions Primo & Epico
With AW watching from the entrance ramp, The Great Khali started by battling Epico. After Epico took a big boot to the face, Rosa and the tag team champions tried to flee the scene, perhaps knowing that was only the start of more suffering. But Big Show had other plans and tossed both tag team champions back into the ring for a pair of Khali Chops. A Big Show chokeslam and Punjabi Plunge finished off both champions for a double cover.

Lord Tensai def. John Cena in an Extreme Rules Match
With anticipation about who John Cena would face in the Extreme Rules Match, John Laurinaitis revealed it would be one of WWE’s most destructive forces – Lord Tensai. Looking on from ringside, Laurinaitis and David Otunga watched Cena battle the dangerous 350-pounder.

As the two fought tooth-and-nail, Cena countered one of Tensai’s moves and tossed him over his back and onto the arena floor in an impressive show of strength. With Tensai feeling the effects of being slammed, Cena used the steel ring steeps to bashTensai in the head. Then, Mr. Sakamoto inserted himself into the action and attacked Cena. Following up, Otunga tossed Cena back into ring.

Engaged in back and forth show of brute strength, it looked like Tensai finally had Cena where he wanted when he dropped his crushing weight onto him … but Cena kept fighting. When Cena had the STF locked in on Tensai, Otunga charged to be met with Attitude Adjustment. Then in a stunning ending, Tensaid sprayed Cena in the eyes with a stinging, green mist then delivered a massive powerbomb to preserve his undefeated streak.

STEEL CAGE: MAIN EVENT FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Bobby Roode Def. James Storm

    Results from the Lockdown Pay-Per-View

    Lethal Lockdown Match:
The stipulation of this match states that the team leader from the losing team will have to leave IMPACT WRESTLING. The first two are unleashed in the cage until the next team member is introduced and from this point every two minutes another member from one team will be introduced into the match and a ref is not brought in to the match until all members have been introduced. The match started with Gunner and Garett facing off in the ring. After some back and forth Bully Ray entered and the two beat down on Garett who was already being dominated at the time by Gunner. Austin Aries came in to even the score and help Garett. Next Kazarian, sporting a new haircut was introduced into the match to give team Bischoff the advantage and allow them to dominate until AJ Styles was introduced, at which point he unleashed a counter offensive to even things up. Christopher Daniels came in to once again to allow team Eric Bischoff to capitalize on the numbers advantage and wear down team Garett. Thankfully help came in the form of Mr. Anderson to take away the advantage and allow for Team Garett to get back on their feet but it was short lived as team Garett was too worn down and Team Eric Bischoff continued to overwhelm them. Next to enter was Eric Bischoff who immediately held his own son, Garett, down and allowed the team to unleash an onslaught of chops and kicks on him. After Team Eric Bischoff dominating the final member of team Garett, Rob Van Dam, made his way in and was followed by the lowering of the cage roof that held weapons all while Eric Bischoff cowered in the corner. With Eric Bischoff not being of much help it allowed for Team Garett to finally pick up the advantage. After all of the members of Team Eric were taken out they focused their attention on Eric Bischoff but did not continue for long as Team Eric Bischoff came back into play. The teams continued on their back and forth assault with brutal attacks with weapons and high risk moves. It finally came down to all members being down except for Eric Bischoff and Garett. Eric beatdown on Garett but after turning his back on Garett he was able to get to his feet and hit Eric over the head with a guitar and pick up the pin on Eric Bischoff. This means that Eric Bischoff is no longer allowed in IMPACT WRESTLING.

    World Tag Team Championship:
Magnus and Shelley kicked things off and Shelley was able to get the upperhand to hand off to Sabin to come in but he was quickly forced to face off with Joe. Joe was able to dominate for the most part. The teams went back and forth with Joe and Magnus trying to limit the match to the ground and pound game and prevent the Guns from taking things high risk. For what seemed to be the biggest majority of the match Magnus and Joe was able to limit it to the ground game and keep control of the match leading to a near pinfall. The Guns however were able to get back into it, unleashing the Motorcity Machine Guns everyone is used to and turn it into a fairly even match. However in the end Samoa Joe and Magnus were able to get the pinfall and retain the Tag Team Championships.

    Television Championship:
Robbie E Started out the match in full force but Devon was able tot bring the power game to the match and gain the upper hand to work on Robbie E and get the pin to allow him to retain the Television Championship. But his victory were short lived when Robbie T came into the ring to take out Devon from behind and Robbie E was able to get a few cheap shots in before leaving the cage.

    Knockouts Championship:
Gail Kim took control of this match for the first part but it turned into a very competitive match with a lot of back and forth between these two eager competitors. Gail Kim went to work on Velvets back but this didn’t stop Velvet as she was able to land a powerbomb from the top rope on Gail. This was not enough as Gail was able to turn it around quickly by reversing a roll up from Velvet and get the three count on Velvet by grabbing her tights and retain the Knockouts Championship.

Ric Flair entered the ring to express his anger to Hulk Hogan over Eric Bischoff losing his job. After a brief exchange Hogan laid out Flair and left the cage. After Flair was able to get back up he tried to get Hogan to come back to the ring to fight but was unsuccessful in his attempt.

    Matt Morgan Vs. Crimson
Crimson seemed apprehensive to start fighting in this match and as a result Morgan was able to get the upper hand fairly quickly. Crimson finally got his head in the game and began to lay out Morgan blow by blow. Crimson seemed to be on the path to victory but Morgan was able to turn things around on Crimson and pick up momentum from there. After some time of back and forth, Crimson was able to make an attempt to leave the ring from crawling over the cage, Morgan was able to slow him down but it was not enough as Crimson was able to take out Morgan and crawl out of the cage to remain undefeated.

    Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy
Kurt Angle dominated from the outset of the match though Hardy was finally able to get a few hits in after some time into the match, but Angle turned things around fairly quickly. The match continued going back and forth and the match intensity continued to elevate and this led to Jeff Hardy getting his head split open. Although Hardy was bleeding he was able to unleash an offensive on Angle and turn things around after a long period of being dominated by Kurt Angle. Hardy made an attempt to crawl out of the cage but was stopped by Angle who unleashed an Angle Slam on him. Shortly after Angle made an attempt to leave the match but was stopped by Hardy. Hardy went for the door but was put into and Angle Ankle Lock, which was reversed by Hardy and put into an Ankle lock by Hardy. The match continued for some back and forth but went into an epic ending with Jeff Hardy doing a Swonton bomb off the top of the cage leading into a pin for the win.

    Knockouts Tag Team Championship.
ODB started the match with a vengeance as she went straight to work on Sarita and Rosita. ODB Made sure that Eric stayed out of things, which he tried getting involved at one point counting a pin that didn’t even involve ODB. When ODB made Eric leave it turned the favor towards Sarita and Rosita. However, ODB was able to get things back and her favor and get the win to retain the Knockouts Tag Team Titles.

    World Heavyweight Title Match
Storm couldn’t seem to wait for Roode to get into the ring and started the match outside of the cage immediately taking control of the match and setting the tone. The two competitors went to war outside of the steel cage for some time at one point drawing blood on Storm before even getting into the ring to start the match. After the match finally got underway Roode was in full control over a bleeding James Storm. Finally Storm seemed to build up some power to fight back but control of the match quickly returned in favor of Bobby Roode for much of the match. After hearing the crowd chanting for him, Storm seemed to have a fire ignite inside and Storm was able to gain full control of the match. The two competitors continued to wear each other down with numerous pin and submission attempts. Roode went to make an attempt to leave the cage which lead to the two pounding each other into the cage. Storm passed on a chance to leave the cage after taking out Roode but instead went back to beat on Roode. Storm attempted a superkick on Roode but instead hit the referee and allowed Roode to start beating on Storm. Roode brought into play a beer bottle that he blasted over the head of Storm. Storm was able to get back briefly into it and kicked Roode but kicked him through the door of the cage inadvertently giving Roode the win to retain the Championship.

Match Plans for WWE's No Way Out Pay-Per-View

As noted before, WWE will be bringing back the No Way Out pay-per-view this year on June 17th from East Rutherford, New Jersey. The new No Way Out DVD synopsis indicates a format change for the event.

Rumors a few months back were that No Way Out would feature more cage matches, similar to TNA's Lockdown pay-per-view. The synopsis below indicates cage matches with various stipulations. Here's the DVD synopsis:

"After a three year hiatus, WWE No Way Out is back and recharged! The annual pay-per-view that became notorious for its brutal, main event Steel Cage Matches gets reincarnated, but this time the Superstars of WWE will take the thematic event a step further, as they find new and innovative ways to prevent opponents from escaping. All stipulations in place, which may include Lumberjack, Strap, Chain, Steel Cage, Handcuff Matches or more will ensure no respite from the chaos inside the ring."

“Yes sir, we promised you a great main event...” The WWE video leads us into the show.

The Smackdown video plays, and we’re brought into the arena with a big fireworks display. Josh Mathews, Michael Cole, and Booker T welcome us to the show. Tonight, we’ll have a bunch of legends for the “Blast From The Past” theme. We’ll also take a look at Daniel Bryan breaking up with AJ. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper will have Daniel Bryan as his guest on Piper’s Pit.

“Mean” Gene Okerlund is in the ring. He welcomes us to Smackdown: Blast From the Past. Okerlund asks the crowd to welcome the new World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus. Sheamus comes out to some cheers and a smattering of boos. Sheamus shakes hands with Okerlund, and he takes the microphone. Sheamus says it’s an honor to be in the ring with a legend such as Okerlund. “Respect” is a very important word around here. He represents the WWE as the World Heavyweight Champion, and there’s a code of honor you have to adhere to. Last week he didn’t respect that code, and he let everyone down. The referee made a bad decision last week, and he let his emotions get the better of him. There’s no excuse for his actions or behavior. Sheamus says he’d like to publically apologize to referee Chad Patton, WWE officials, and everyone all over the world. He’s sorry. Sheamus says he hopes we accept the apology because he’s a red headed Irishman. People make mistakes. Sometimes they learn the easy way and sometimes it’s the hard way. He’s always learned the hard way.

John Laurinaitis’s music hits, and he charges down to the ring. Laurinaitis shows footage from last week’s main event against Alberto Del Rio. Sheamus got disqualified after the referee thought he used a chair. Sheamus then gave the referee a Brogue Kick. Laurinaitis admonishes Sheamus for putting his hands on his referee. Laurinaitis wants him to publically apologize to Chad Patton. Sheamus says he just did. Laurinaitis says he didn’t hear it, and he orders Sheamus to do it again. Sheamus publically apologizes to referee Chad Patton again. Laurinaitis wants him to apologize to all the WWE referees. Sheamus says he did, and Laurinaitis says he didn’t hear it. Sheamus again apologizes to the WWE referees. Laurinaitis says it’s time to apologize to the world, and Sheamus smiles at him. Laurinaitis orders him to apologize, and Sheamus apologizes to everyone all over the world. Laurinaitis says that isn’t good enough. As of right now, he’s on permanent probation. If he touches another referee, even if by accident, he’s fired. Laurinaitis is also giving him the largest fine in WWE history: $500,000!

Laurinaitis wishes him luck in his match. Sheamus will face Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan in a tag team match. His opponent? “Mean” Gene Okerlund!

Randy Orton is backstage, and his father “Cowboy” Bob Orton comes in. His father wishes him luck in his match, and they hug.

Henry follows him outside, and he goes to throw Orton into the ring post. Orton slides off, and he sends him into the post a few times. Henry falls to the floor, and Orton gets in the ring to take a count-out.

All of a sudden, the ring posts explode with fire! Kane appears on the titantron, and he says he needed to beat Orton at WrestleMania to become whole. He needed to become the monster that he was always meant to be. He did that, but last week, Orton proved he could be every bit as vicious as he can be. Orton showed the world why he is the Viper. Kane says it would be a shame if it were to end now. After all, he’s having so much fun – the kind of fun that the entire family can enjoy. The camera pans down, and “Cowboy” Bob Orton has been laid out. Orton runs to the back.

It’s the “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart. Hart comes in with the megaphone, and he says he’s managed champions. Now he’ll manage them for tonight.

    -Commercial Break-

Mick Foley’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. Foley joins them on commentary, and Michael Cole pokes fun at him for complaining in his book about being a commentator in 2008. It sounded like Foley got cut off as he tried to talk.

Jey hits a Samoan Drop, and they hit a big splash off the top for the win.

Winners by Pinfall: Jimmy and Jey Uso
    Match Rating: 1/2 *

Jimmy Hart gets in the ring, and he talks to Heath Slater. Slater then throws Hart into Mr. Socko. Foley gets on the megaphone, and the crowd was silent. Cole laughs at how that went over. Foley checks on Hart afterward.

Sheamus and “Mean” Gene Okerlund will take on Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio later tonight. They then show footage of Daniel Bryan breaking up with AJ last week. He’ll be on Piper’s Pit, next!

    -Commercial Break-

Piper’s Pit with Special Guest Daniel Bryan

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper makes his way to the ring, adorned with the trappings of Piper’s Pit. Piper says he missed the crowd. They chant his name. Tonight on Piper’s Pit, he has a man named Daniel Bryan. Daniel Bryan is a man that lost the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXVIII in 18-seconds, and he blames it on his girlfriend. Piper shows footage of Daniel Bryan breaking up with AJ last Friday. Piper then introduces Daniel Bryan to the ring.

Daniel Bryan comes out to the ring screaming, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” He even has the new shirt on. The crowd chants the word. Piper says Bryan seems happy for a man who lost the World Heavyweight Championship in 18-seconds. Bryan says he just had a meeting with Mr. Laurinaitis, and he granted him his rightful return match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd chants, “18-seconds.” Bryan says this new match will not allow Sheamus to fluke his way into a win. This will prove who the better man is. Not only does he want to pin Sheamus; he wants to make him tap out. Now he can do both. At Extreme Rules, they are going to have a two-out-of-three falls match. The reason he lost his title, AJ, will be nowhere to be found.

Piper says he doesn’t know if AJ will be at Extreme Rules, but he does know she is in the building. Piper likes AJ, and it’s his show. Piper introduces AJ to the ring. She gets a nice hand from the Hampton, Virginia crowd. AJ gets giddy, and she says she can’t believe she’s on Piper’s Pit. AJ says hi to Bryan, and Piper can’t believe she’s talking to him. AJ says she knows how he can come off sometimes, but Bryan is a good person deep down. Piper says this is Piper’s Pit where you leave the politically correct answers at the door. This is a guy who dumped her in front of the WWE Universe. This guy says she’s dead weight, and her kiss is the kiss of death. Piper can’t believe she said he’s a nice guy. AJ said it’s her fault, and Bryan smiles. She made a mistake at WrestleMania, and she’s so sorry. She gets choked up. AJ says if they could just talk, they could work it out. She can make it up to him.

Piper can’t believe what he’s hearing. Piper has been watching her since her debut. He saw when the Big Show mowed her down, but she got back up. That means she’s strong. It’s tough to be a lady in WWE, so she’s smart. She’s also beautiful, and she doesn’t need to make anything up to Bryan. Piper is going to tell her a secret. Bryan is using her, and Bryan speaks up. Bryan says he’s tired of Piper dragging his name through the dirt and AJ airing dirty laundry. Bryan says if she loved him then she would leave the ring. Piper says she doesn’t need to listen, but Bryan says her name firmly. AJ then leaves the ring. Bryan laughs as she walks to the back.

Piper says he’s not finished with Bryan. He sees the t-shirt. Piper, thanks to the WWE Universe, he has four children, three of them girls. Piper says he’s going to tell Bryan some “No’s.” You don’t tell a lady to shut up. That’s a no. You don’t yell at a lady. That’s a no. You don’t use a lady as a human shield because that’s a coward, and it’s a no. The only bright light he sees is the fact that at Extreme Rules, Sheamus will have a two-out-of-three falls match against him. The bright spot for Piper is he’ll get to watch Sheamus kick the head off Bryan’s shoulders not once, but twice. Bryan says at Extreme Rules, the fact that he’s better than Sheamus is going to slap the WWE Universe and Piper in the face. Bryan then slaps Piper in the face, and he quickly leaves the ring. Piper screams at him as Bryan goes up the ramp.

Sheamus and “Mean” Gene Okerlund will take on Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan tonight.

    -Commercial Break-

The Great Khali, Alicia Fox and Natalya vs. Drew McIntyre and The Bella Twins

Khali and McIntyre lock up. Khali powers him down, and he clotheslines him. McIntyre tags in a Bella, and he says he’s better than this. McIntyre walks off on them. Nikki takes Alicia Fox down, and Fox quickly hits a northern lights suplex for the win.

    -Commercial Break-

They show footage from earlier tonight of Kane’s assault on “Cowboy” Bob Orton and Randy Orton. They say that Bob Orton suffered abdominal injuries.

They air the Raw Rebound that featured John Cena and Brock Lesnar getting into a massive brawl. John Cena will take on Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules.

Sheamus is backstage with “Mean” Gene Okerlund. Okerlund is in a “Great White” shirt, and he looks nervous. Okerlund says he doesn’t like their chances tonight. However, he sees Sheamus smiling, and he asks if he has something up his sleeve. Sheamus says they’re probably not going to win. Sheamus says he won’t give John Laurinaitis the satisfaction of seeing him sweat this match. Plus, it’s not often you get to tag with Okerlund. He watched him as a kid, so it’s cool. If they survive tonight, the first pint is on him. Okerlund asks what he means by IF they survive. Sheamus says they’ll either have a drink to remember or forget.

    -Commercial Break-

“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Hunico w/ Camacho

Hunico says he’s the future of WWE, and the legends are from the past. They don’t matter. Duggan punches away at Hunico, and he falls out of the ring. Duggan waves to the back, and Sgt. Slaughter runs down to the ring to be Duggan’s manager. Slaughter tosses Duggan the 2x4. Duggan hits Hunico and Camacho with it, causing a disqualification. Match Rating: N/A

Sheamus and “Mean” Gene Okerlund will take on Alberto Del Rio and Daniel Bryan later tonight.

    -Commercial Break-

Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring. Rhodes says tonight is a “Blast From The Past,” but it’s really a waste of our collective times. It’s time to turn to the future when he’s once again the WWE Intercontinental Champion. It’s a future where Big Show doesn’t get a lucky punch, and it’s a future where the legends don’t take time away from the young guys. Dusty Rhodes’ music hits, and he makes his way to the ring dancing.

Cody says this doesn’t concern his father in the least. His father digresses. Dusty says he loves him, but he came into this industry as the most naturally talented man since Shawn Michaels. Cody wanted to poke a grizzly bear in Big Show. Cody says Dusty is embarrassing him. They can talk about this in the back. Cody walks off, and Big Show’s music hits. Cody goes back in the ring as Big Show comes out strutting with the title. Big Show does a nice Dusty Rhodes impression. Big Show says he knows Cody has been embarrassed lately, but he won’t ruin him tonight. He then shows a video of Cody Rhodes putting on lip-gloss when he was “Dashing.” Even Dusty is smirking. Big Show says that’s embarrassing, and he walks off. Cody stands around for a little bit, and then Dusty’s music hits. Dusty dances in the ring as Cody walks to the back embarrassed.

Sheamus and “Mean” Gene Okerlund are walking backstage. They’ll be in action next.

    -Commercial Break-

Daniel Bryan is already in the ring. He’ll face Sheamus in a two-out-of-three falls match at Extreme Rules for the World Heavyweight Championship. Charles Robinson, my favorite referee, is back for another match. Del Rio quickly kicks Sheamus down. Sheamus reverses a whip, and he hits a back elbow. Sheamus scares Bryan off the apron, and Del Rio knocks him down. Bryan is tagged in, and he kicks away at Sheamus. Bryan kicks him in the corner, and Del Rio is tagged back in. They double-team Sheamus, and Del Rio applies a front face lock. Sheamus slams him off, and Bryan is tagged back in. Bryan kicks away at Sheamus, and he runs into a hammer throw. Del Rio then kicks Sheamus down at ringside.

“Mean” Gene sneaks into the ring, and Del Rio slaps him in the back of the head. Okerlund begs them off, and Ricardo Rodriguez gets in the ring. Rodriguez wants to fight Okerlund. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s music hits, and all the legends come down to the ring. They scare them off. Piper gets in Bryan’s face, and he turns into a Brogue Kick. Sheamus pins Bryan again!

Winners by Pinfall: Sheamus and “Mean” Gene Okerlund

    Morgan going back to WWE?

    Posted Image

Matt Morgan, who wrestles Crimson on Sunday's TNA Lockdown PPV event, said on today's PWTorch Livecast that his contract with TNA is up later this year. He says he is loyal to TNA, but WWE has expressed interest in him and he could see circumstances that would lead to his going back to WWE.

"I have another year left on my contract with TNA," he said. "My fifth of five years. I signed a five year deal with them four years ago. I believe in October it will be up. The way it works is I'm a businessman first and foremost, right? And you try to keep your options open as much as humanly possible. I did start with WWE. They gave me a lot of tools and a lot of knowledge and I was trained by some of the best big men this business has ever had and learned a lot of things from those people over there in WWE. So I was very very lucky."

He said it was a mistake for WWE to release him five years ago, but he understands in retrospect the circumstances that led to his being part of massive layoffs in 2005.

"Unfortunately, unluckily I came there during a time when there was a revolving door. The day I got released I believe we lost 22 other guys in a two days span on a Thursday as well as Black Friday in 2005. I believe it was one of those wrong places, wrong time. Timing is everything in this sport."

As far as a possible WWE return goes, he is not ruling it out. "To say I wouldn't go back would be dumb on my part and it would be a lie," he said. "But at the same time, I really am - I know people don't like this answer who are pro-WWE and not so pro-TNA - but that's the truth, I am loyal to those who are loyal to me. The minute, the day TNA stops being as loyal to me as I feel I am being to them, that's a different discussion all to itself and I definitely would weigh my options a lot differently if and when that day ever came. But speaking right now, I'm happy for the most part with how TNA has been treating me and they've done a really good job with me the last four years."

He believes WWE would look back at releasing him as a mistake, yet at the same time WWE had so much talent around the same age, he understands their decision. "I think I've proven it was a mistake, but not a mistake because of the timing," he said. "Timing really is everything. If they have a roster, which they did at the time, full of guys in my age group - they were throwing so much crap against the wall to see what would stick, a lot of us weren't given a lot of time to stick against the wall, first and foremost, to see if something would come out of these characters they were trying to present so quickly. I mean, if you watch back those old Smackdowns and Raws from '03 to '05 or '06, you'd see a lot of guys I could easily see now becoming huge."

He said one thing that could influence his return is the recent re-signing of Brock Lesnar. He worked with Lesnar during his previous run with the company and at times traveled with him.

"Brock Lesnar coming back to WWE, that guy helped me a lot when I was first up there," Morgan said. "He is someone who helped me a lot work as a bigger guy, the psychology involved in working as a big guy. So did Undertaker, so did Kane, so did Big Show. And there's still some other dream matches out there that I want to happen before my career is up. So I guess I would weigh my options a hell of a lot more when that day comes. I'm a businessman first and foremost, to answer your question honestly. But at the same time, that's what my agent is for. I know there has been interest from that company. But at the same time I am loyal to TNA for now."

He said the way TNA brought him along from a bodyguard at the beginning to a PPV headliner has worked out well. "I went from, you know, a body guard to being Cornette's lackey to making these awful matches on Impact and getting in trouble and having him scream at me on national television. But I was in a suit and was first brought on to speak, so these fans right away got to understand Matt can hold his own on the mic, this kid can talk, he's not relying on his physicality, not relying on flexing every ten seconds, not relying on being 6-11, 328 pounds of muscle like every other meathead in this business relies on. So that was a good lesson for me because I got introduced for my verbal skills for the most part. And when it was time to transition me to a wrestler, it was easier from that point moving forward. The fans had something to sink their teeth into somewhat because they understood me as a character first and foremost as opposed to another big guy who's really in good shape, let's say, like so many other big guys. We added a few good layers to my character over the years, and as long as they keep doing that, I have no reason to leave TNA, so to say."

James Storm’s music plays. He comes on stage as the crowd pops. He has a suit jacket, a different style, but still has his sunglasses. He walks up the steps and gets in the ring. He grabs a mic. Bobby Roode’s music hits and here comes the TNA World Champion. He gets on stage with the suit men behind him. He slowly walks down the ramp. The crowd boos him as he gets in the ring with the TNA World Title over his shoulder. He has the style of the suit he always wears.

They both laughed then because they thought it wouldn’t happen. James brings up their success as a tag team and footage is shown then being a team. Roode gets on the mic and says he is not going to forget about Beer Money. He says it was one of the best times in his career and in his life. There is another proud moment in his life though. It was just last year. It was when they put their tag team aspirations to the side and both were entered in the Bound for Glory Tournament. They were in the Final Four. Footage shows the matches back then. Roode says he went on and defeated the man that defeated James. He went on to wrestle at Bound for Glory for the title while James sat in the back and didn’t do anything. James said he remembers doing something. He says he was sitting there, drinking beer, watching the monitor and seen Roode lose. He then beat the man who beat Roode in a record time. Roode says he actually does remember that as James’ title reign was so short. James remembers it like it was yesterday as he beat James for the title. He became the “It” factor of professional wrestling and the voice of the selfish generation. James says he is glad he brought that up as that was the night Roode hit James with the beer bottle. That was the point where he destroyed Beer Money and the friendship. Roode yells and says there wasn’t any friendship. 10 years ago, they hated each there. The only reason why Beer Money was successful was because of each other’s passion. They hate each other and James knows it. James supported his family off of Roode’s talent and James is jealous of it.

James says family and friends still mean something where he comes from. He starts to yell. He doesn’t sell out for money. He does this for his family and for all of the fans. He says his super kick leg is getting tired of going back down memory lane. In 3 days, they will face each other inside a Steel Cage and it will be in James’ hometown and his family and friends. Roode doesn’t care about his hillbilly wife and redneck kids. Both take off their coats as each get heated up. James says Roode will need a miracle to walk out of the cage. Roode brings up James’ famous quote and says he will need all the luck he can get to beat him as he will have to do it for his dead brothers and dead father. Both drop their mics and get right in the face of each other. Both are nose to nose as the show fades.

4/9 RAW Breakdown: Cena vs. Otunga, Three Stooges
Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/11/2012 at 08:20 PM

    - As noted before, Monday's RAW Supershow from Washington, DC drew a 3.10 rating with 4.29 million viewers. RAW this week was third for the night on cable. This week's show was down 21% from the 5.46 million viewers of the week after WrestleMania in 2011. That says a lot because last year there was no big bombshell along the lines of Brock Lesnar's return.

In the segment breakdown, Santino Marella & Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger lost 99,000 viewers from the opener. A backstage segment with John Laurinaitis, The Miz and John Cena plus Santino looking for The Three Stooges and R-Truth vs. Cody Rhodes gained 255,000 viewers. Lord Tensai vs. Yoshi Tatsu lost 415,000 viewers.

The segment between CM Punk and Chris Jericho at 10pm gained 379,000 viewers for a 3.19 quarter rating. Punk vs. Mark Henry and the post-match angle with Chris Jericho giving a beer bath to Punk as well as the Alberto Del Rio vs. Zack Ryder lost 169,000 viewers. The segment with The Three Stooges lost 240,000 viewers and was the low point of the show at a 2.90 quarter rating.

The backstage interview with Brock Lesnar gained 423,000 viewers. The main event with John Cena vs. David Otunga and the Lesnar run-in gained 301,000 viewers. This is considered a weak overrun rating at a 3.42.

    HHH & Taker's Status

    - Earlier reports suggested The Undertaker will work several more WrestleMania events as long as he is able to but another source expects him to work just next year's show in New Jersey. Taker's left shoulder was in bad shape and he was banged up when the Hell in a Cell match with Triple H was over at WrestleMania 28. However, reports were that he came out of Hell in a Cell less injured than he came out of the WrestleMania 27 match.

Regarding Triple H's status, he will wrestle sparingly from here on out as office work is taking a priority. The belief is that he will still do some matches from time to time

    NXT on hulu.com
    Taped 4/10/12 in Hampton, Virginia.

Before the match, Watson complained about Maxine's presence, and Regal stood up from the announce table and instructed her to stay away from the ring. Maxine joined Matthews and Regal on commentary.

    1. Percy Watson vs. Johnny Curtis (w/ Maxine). Watson quickly took control and hit a flurry of arm drags and dropkicks. Watson hit a leg drop for a two count. Maxine began to flirt with Regal at ringside. Regal ended up taking his headset off and speaking with Maxine.

Watson became distracted, and Curtis knocked him to the floor as the show went to break… [C]

Back from the break, Curtis continued to work over Watson as Regal spoke about a problem with Matt Striker. Curtis began to target Watson's arm and hit a leg drop on Watson's arm from the second rope.

Curtis went for the spot again but Watson punched him repeatedly and hit an arm drag. Watson ran through his offense again as Regal left with Maxine. Watson became distracted again and Curtis rolled him up for the three count…

Johnny Curtis defeated Percy Watson in 8:44.

Maxine ran into Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks backstage. They asked if she lived up to her end of the bargain and Maxine asked where Striker is located. They said they would tell her as soon as they made sure she lived up to her end of the bargain.

Reks and Hawkins left as Kaitlyn and Derrick Bateman showed up. Maxine turned on the waterworks in order to try and get him to help, and he and Kaitlyn decided to assuage their boredom by getting involved… [C]

Ryan's Rant: That match was ok. There were some fun spots, but the story was obviously focused on Maxine and the Striker saga rather than the match's participants and the action in the ring. The stories on NXT continue to be silly, but the participants are so committed to the silliness that it is at least entertaining.

Tamina was shown walking backstage when she ran into Titus O'Neill. O'Neill tried to get back into her good graces with a coconut tree, and Tamina was quickly back to liking him. Darren Young walked up and he was obviously upset with O'Neill's actions. When Tamina left, O'Neill revealed that he wasn't even interested in Tamina, but he just wanted to prove that he was better than Young…

Elsewhere, Bateman and Kaitlyn discussed the good old days before they stumbled upon Striker's holding chambers. Striker freaked out for a bit until he realized he was being saved. Striker was holding Hawkins' cane and he refused to go see a doctor… [C]

Ryan's Rant: I haven't enjoyed the Tamina act since they tried making her more like her father and being completely void of intelligence. She's just no longer a convincing character. Decent work by the rest of the people in this segment, but NXT tends to try and cram too many angles into one short segment.

The Raw Rebound focused on the progressions in the Lesnar/Cena feud…

Hawkins and Reks were arguing backstage until regal approached them and apologized. He ran through all of the regal-isms he used against them in the weeks prior before asking where Striker was. Regal warned them that if anything happened to Striker, there would be severe consequences. Hawkins and Res were mortified to discover Striker had escaped. Maxine and Curtis showed up to gloat about the tables being turned… [C]

A video package covering the Tyson Kidd vs. Michael McGillicutty feud aired…

    2. Michael McGillicutty vs. Tyson Kidd. Kidd took control early and kept McGillicutty on the floor, but Kidd flew and McGillicutty caught Kidd in the ring apron before the show went to commercial... [C]

Back from the break, McGillicutty remained in control. Kidd had several hope spots, but McGillicutty managed to maintain his momentum throughout the majority of the match.

Kidd eventually, Kidd caught McGillicutty with a series of kicks and attempted to lock in the Sharpshooter. McGillicutty kicked him off, but Kidd came back with a flying neckbreaker form the top rope for a near fall. Kidd went for a springboard maneuver but McGillicutty dropkicked him out of the air.

McGillicutty went for the McGillicutter but Kidd reversed it into a roll-up. McGillicutty kicked out and nailed Kidd with a Saito suplex. McGillicutty locked in the Sharpshooter on Kidd. Kidd made the ropes.

McGillicutty went for the Fishermen's Suplex but Kidd wrapped McGillicutty up in what looked to be a cross between a Sharpshooter and an armbar; very innovative submission hold that led to the tap out from McGillicutty.

Tyson Kidd defeats Michael McGillicutty in 9:10.

    Backstage Talk About Lesnar

    - The return of Brock Lesnar to WWE has people wondering if it will help the career of Michael McGillicutty as Lesnar and McGillicutty's father Curt Hennig were very close friends. As of last week there hadn't been any discussion about pushing McGillicutty but it's said that Lesnar's clout can't hurt McGillicutty's standing with the company.

On a related note, McGillicutty worked his NXT match last night against Tyson Kidd with a case of food poisoning. The match received rave reviews from people backstage including "Road Dogg" BG James. Kidd vs. McGillicutty will air today on NXT.
