4/9 RAW Breakdown: Cena vs. Otunga, Three Stooges Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/11/2012 at 08:20 PM
- As noted before, Monday's RAW Supershow from Washington, DC drew a 3.10 rating with 4.29 million viewers. RAW this week was third for the night on cable. This week's show was down 21% from the 5.46 million viewers of the week after WrestleMania in 2011. That says a lot because last year there was no big bombshell along the lines of Brock Lesnar's return.
In the segment breakdown, Santino Marella & Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler & Jack Swagger lost 99,000 viewers from the opener. A backstage segment with John Laurinaitis, The Miz and John Cena plus Santino looking for The Three Stooges and R-Truth vs. Cody Rhodes gained 255,000 viewers. Lord Tensai vs. Yoshi Tatsu lost 415,000 viewers.
The segment between CM Punk and Chris Jericho at 10pm gained 379,000 viewers for a 3.19 quarter rating. Punk vs. Mark Henry and the post-match angle with Chris Jericho giving a beer bath to Punk as well as the Alberto Del Rio vs. Zack Ryder lost 169,000 viewers. The segment with The Three Stooges lost 240,000 viewers and was the low point of the show at a 2.90 quarter rating.
The backstage interview with Brock Lesnar gained 423,000 viewers. The main event with John Cena vs. David Otunga and the Lesnar run-in gained 301,000 viewers. This is considered a weak overrun rating at a 3.42.
- Earlier reports suggested The Undertaker will work several more WrestleMania events as long as he is able to but another source expects him to work just next year's show in New Jersey. Taker's left shoulder was in bad shape and he was banged up when the Hell in a Cell match with Triple H was over at WrestleMania 28. However, reports were that he came out of Hell in a Cell less injured than he came out of the WrestleMania 27 match.
Regarding Triple H's status, he will wrestle sparingly from here on out as office work is taking a priority. The belief is that he will still do some matches from time to time
NXT on hulu.com Taped 4/10/12 in Hampton, Virginia.
Before the match, Watson complained about Maxine's presence, and Regal stood up from the announce table and instructed her to stay away from the ring. Maxine joined Matthews and Regal on commentary.
1. Percy Watson vs. Johnny Curtis (w/ Maxine). Watson quickly took control and hit a flurry of arm drags and dropkicks. Watson hit a leg drop for a two count. Maxine began to flirt with Regal at ringside. Regal ended up taking his headset off and speaking with Maxine.
Watson became distracted, and Curtis knocked him to the floor as the show went to break [C]
Back from the break, Curtis continued to work over Watson as Regal spoke about a problem with Matt Striker. Curtis began to target Watson's arm and hit a leg drop on Watson's arm from the second rope.
Curtis went for the spot again but Watson punched him repeatedly and hit an arm drag. Watson ran through his offense again as Regal left with Maxine. Watson became distracted again and Curtis rolled him up for the three count
Johnny Curtis defeated Percy Watson in 8:44.
Maxine ran into Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks backstage. They asked if she lived up to her end of the bargain and Maxine asked where Striker is located. They said they would tell her as soon as they made sure she lived up to her end of the bargain.
Reks and Hawkins left as Kaitlyn and Derrick Bateman showed up. Maxine turned on the waterworks in order to try and get him to help, and he and Kaitlyn decided to assuage their boredom by getting involved [C]
Ryan's Rant: That match was ok. There were some fun spots, but the story was obviously focused on Maxine and the Striker saga rather than the match's participants and the action in the ring. The stories on NXT continue to be silly, but the participants are so committed to the silliness that it is at least entertaining.
Tamina was shown walking backstage when she ran into Titus O'Neill. O'Neill tried to get back into her good graces with a coconut tree, and Tamina was quickly back to liking him. Darren Young walked up and he was obviously upset with O'Neill's actions. When Tamina left, O'Neill revealed that he wasn't even interested in Tamina, but he just wanted to prove that he was better than Young
Elsewhere, Bateman and Kaitlyn discussed the good old days before they stumbled upon Striker's holding chambers. Striker freaked out for a bit until he realized he was being saved. Striker was holding Hawkins' cane and he refused to go see a doctor [C]
Ryan's Rant: I haven't enjoyed the Tamina act since they tried making her more like her father and being completely void of intelligence. She's just no longer a convincing character. Decent work by the rest of the people in this segment, but NXT tends to try and cram too many angles into one short segment.
The Raw Rebound focused on the progressions in the Lesnar/Cena feud
Hawkins and Reks were arguing backstage until regal approached them and apologized. He ran through all of the regal-isms he used against them in the weeks prior before asking where Striker was. Regal warned them that if anything happened to Striker, there would be severe consequences. Hawkins and Res were mortified to discover Striker had escaped. Maxine and Curtis showed up to gloat about the tables being turned [C]
A video package covering the Tyson Kidd vs. Michael McGillicutty feud aired
2. Michael McGillicutty vs. Tyson Kidd. Kidd took control early and kept McGillicutty on the floor, but Kidd flew and McGillicutty caught Kidd in the ring apron before the show went to commercial... [C]
Back from the break, McGillicutty remained in control. Kidd had several hope spots, but McGillicutty managed to maintain his momentum throughout the majority of the match.
Kidd eventually, Kidd caught McGillicutty with a series of kicks and attempted to lock in the Sharpshooter. McGillicutty kicked him off, but Kidd came back with a flying neckbreaker form the top rope for a near fall. Kidd went for a springboard maneuver but McGillicutty dropkicked him out of the air.
McGillicutty went for the McGillicutter but Kidd reversed it into a roll-up. McGillicutty kicked out and nailed Kidd with a Saito suplex. McGillicutty locked in the Sharpshooter on Kidd. Kidd made the ropes.
McGillicutty went for the Fishermen's Suplex but Kidd wrapped McGillicutty up in what looked to be a cross between a Sharpshooter and an armbar; very innovative submission hold that led to the tap out from McGillicutty.
- The return of Brock Lesnar to WWE has people wondering if it will help the career of Michael McGillicutty as Lesnar and McGillicutty's father Curt Hennig were very close friends. As of last week there hadn't been any discussion about pushing McGillicutty but it's said that Lesnar's clout can't hurt McGillicutty's standing with the company.
On a related note, McGillicutty worked his NXT match last night against Tyson Kidd with a case of food poisoning. The match received rave reviews from people backstage including "Road Dogg" BG James. Kidd vs. McGillicutty will air today on NXT.

Scott Steiner Continues Trashing TNA Executives Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/11/2012 at 01:18 PM
Scott Steiner, who parted ways with TNA Wrestling two weeks ago, has continued to fire off messages on his Twitter account trashing his former employer's brain trust, particularly Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff and Bruce Prichard. He says TNA is sinking under their watch and their tactics have instilled fear among employees. "Big Poppa Pump" also sounds off on TNA not acknowledging the ratings success of Indian based promotion Ring Ka King, the Abyss brother storyline, Garett Bischoff, cutting costs in catering and more. Steiner says:
With all the media coverage via U tube,http://GQ.com and the 40 billboards of me thruout India covering Ring ka King
Isnt it strange that Tna mentiond very little about it thats bcuz Pritchard hogan n bitchoff
Were pissd bcuz it did so well drawing 14 mill viewers n they had nothin to do with it
U couldnt talk about it at the office or tweet about it.THINK ABOUT THAT! We went to India for Tna but Tna did very lil coverage of it
Bcuz these idiots were pissed they had nothing to do with the success of it..so they tried to bury the ppl who went over there
They tried to bury me they imediately startd beating morgan, they couldnt bury Magnus bcuz
They had sent him home when they first came in,so they startd using him bcuz nxt trip to India
They'll say he cant go ..Magnus is 25 yrs he can talk, wrestle and he looks great why would they send him home for about a year
Oh,yeah bcuz Garrett is 28 yrs has had less than 10 matches has great sideburns cant throw a clothline
And is the future of wrestling f***! But the guy they r burying the worst is abyss.f***ing why!
They made him take off his mask cut his hair n walk around sayin he is abyss's brother
Which makes everybody look stupid, like we dont know what abyss looks like, what he never took off his mask
Why...abyss has bn there from the begining n is a nice guy...but they just f*** with everybody bcuz they r assholes
As soon as these assholes took over they built up a barrier where u could no longer talk to dixie u had to talk Bruce
We all thought pritchard is a prick n didnt want to talk to him.but those who tried to contact dixie either got ignored or reprimended
Not sure how pritchard hogan n bitchoff convinced dixie to turn her back on the ppl who built up Tna
And listen to the 3 jackoffs that are sinking Tna..wrestling has always bn about ratings ratings ratings
Ratings are like a scoreboard, there isnt one coach that looks at the scoreboard at the end of the game
And wonders who won..and since these guys came to tna the ratings suckd and still do !!!!!!
So was is it so hard to figure out who is the problem
Since they came in ratings are down but costs are up,so to cuts cost in other areas to pay for these worthless ratings killers
They cut the money for catering and we startd using paper plates n plastic.f***ing crazy!!!!
Pritchard hogan n bitchoffs tactics were to make everyboby job scared by fn with everybody and turnd tna into a zoo a circus
And just like every good circus u have clowns n midgets ......:..

Scott Hall Arrested For Domestic Battery Posted by Steve Carrier on 04/10/2012 at 04:19 PM
Scott Hall was arrested last Friday in Florida following a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend, reports TMZ.com.
According to an arrest report obtained by the website, Hall allegedly choked out his girlfriend in a drunken fit of rage. Hall's girlfriend Lisa Howell says he had been drinking "for days" when they got into an argument Friday evening.
Howell says she got into her car to drive away from the residence, and in a blind rage, Hall grabbed her by the throat and tried to pull her out of the driver's seat. When confronted by police, Hall appeared heavily intoxicated with an "unknown white secretion flowing from both sides of his mouth." He denied getting violent.
Police observed several signs of physical injury on Howell, including red marks around her neck, so Hall was placed under arrest for domestic battery. His arrest required two sets of handcuffs due to his large stature.
Hall could not be immediately booked in jail because he was too intoxicated. He was taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical clearance before he was booked in Seminole County's John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
Howell has refused to press charges against Hall. TMZ says it's unclear if the case will move forward in court.

The last we heard on Hall was that he had been admitted back into rehab a few weeks ago. Apparently Hall was let out as the arrest happened just last Friday night.
- One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions Epico wrote the following on Twitter last night about being left off RAW:
"Well, the tag team champs were left off #Raw for another week...... But this time we're not gonna cry.... We're just gonna take matters into our own hands..."

CM Punk Too Small To Face Lesnar? Posted by Andy Steven on 04/09/2012 at 04:13 PM
CM Punk has been mentioned as a potential opponent for Brock Lesnar but there is concern among WWE officials as to whether it would be an equal match-up due to their difference in size. Lesnar is seen as a beast whereas Punk is considered relatively skinny for a top level WWE Superstar. Furthermore, management wants Lesnars programs to be box office bonanzas and Punk is seen at best fifth in the pecking order, behind The Rock, John Cena, Triple H and Undertaker. There is also concern over Punks appearance backstage; he has been described as walking around looking like he just walked out of a car accident. Officials notice this as he often walks around backstage with a heat pack or an ice pack in tow and generally looks beaten and battered.
Tonights WWE RAW Supershow opens up with hype for Brock Lesnar and the Three Stooges. Michael Cole announces CM Punk vs. Mark Henry for later on. The pyro goes off inside the Verizon Center as Cole and Lawler hype tonights show.

We come back and Laurinaitis says Lesnar will face Cena at Extreme Rules and bring back legitimacy to WWE. Laurinaitis introduces Lesnar and out he comes.
The crowd applauds as Lesnar takes the mic. He thanks Laurinaitis for having the wisdom to bring legitimacy back to WWE. The crowd boos. John Cenas music hits immediately and out he comes.
Cena smiles before walking up and smacking Lesnar in the face. Lesnar tackles Cena and they go at it. Officials and Otunga try to break things up. The locker room empties out and Superstars flood the ring trying to break things up. They get separated and John Cenas mouth is busted open bad. Cena is bleeding as he leaps across the ring and tries to attack Lesnar again. Superstars keep the two separated. Lesnar breaks through this time and hits Cena with a right. They go back to brawling as everyone tries to break it up. Finally Lesnar is dragged out of the ring. Cena is still smirking with a bloody mouth. We go to commercial.
