So last night we started with the treatment of the horses with the medication Dr. Eric Laarakker had advised and had donated together with Irene from NMLHealth, for the welfare of the horses.
Last night they got the Parasiet Compositum for the first time....& all went well. So they got some more this morning and evening. At lunch they received the Drainage Compositum for the first time and will get some more in a minute. Tomorrow we start with the Boost Compositum.
Our Filly is neighing every time she sees me coming out the house or passing by. She is such a sweetheart
This morning I had an appointment with the farrier. He thinks Punkie hurt an inner tendon. He trimmed all 4 feet and cleaned them well to be sure there was no little hole in there. He also trimmed Brownies feet as they were growing wrong too...
Tonight Tchanca seemed to have something wrong and he had +40.3°C of fever. I gave him a full treatment and thus I also treated the fever and aspirinpoints. I gave him an anti-inflammatory and the fever dropped to 39.3 ° after an hour.
We keep busy....Everytime again and learn a lot in the mean time ! Luckely the weather is finally becoming more normal .... Well is that really true? ... Today we had suddenly 46 ° C in the sun in the afternoon...
At the moment she is still alone in the round pen...so they all can get accostom to eachother. Eating lunch alone in peace (there are heavy clouds over here).
A busy morning....First I took some blood from Chiki and brought it to the horse clinic. Then I went to go & visit the kids in La Llar del Cavall and then I went to do some shopping. I saw my vet Lalo on the way and discussed the deworming of the bog boys ... Continued shopping so all the animals would have enough food ... On the way back I bought a wheelbarrow so I don't have to carry all those boxes with food when I feed the 10 horses .... I bought a new Kärcher for F to replace the one he gave me to use & that I broke... Then I saw the architect to receive all the necessary documents for the application for the waterconnection...

I still can not believe it, it seems so unreal ,....
Last night I received the news that Fernando suddenly died... he who was always there for us, even before we moved permanently to Spain he who became F's best friend ... they saw each other almost every day ... and made many sailing trips together he who loved horses and who came to see the foals ofcourse he who as a Doc gave us medical advice and stood by us he who was there when you needed him he who was still in the prime of his life
I still can not comprehend that he is not here anymore, it seems so unreal He was snatched away from us much too soon and leaves a large void ... I will miss him ...
So what happened last night while I was at that meeting in the equine clinic ?
Cubanito & Picollo are OK, I can't see anything special,....they are scared though of sudden moves.... Did they get scared by a fox and tried to break out? The black spot looks like tar...and there is hair on it.....

The day began quietly .... Chikiboy neighing when I came out of the house this morning .... and I saw my horse back in great health ... head high, greeting me, eyes wide open, no pain at all. But then I saw that that he had had some intestinal problems during the night... the last package was really flat
I brought everyones breakfast and then I went to search for a new large barrel to put the barleystraw in to week so I could have my bathroom for myself again ... in the end I came home with another large new bathtub (pics will follow).
Like every day I cleaned, I cleaned, and I cleaned and moved a closet down to the stables to put the things of the colts in. Then it was time again for their lunch ... Again
Then I went to search for blankets for the kids because the nights are going to be cold in the next coming days.
I bought one of 135 cm from Martine who has a webshop here and tomorrow I m going to Decathlon where I can get one of 120cm they said.
When I got to the kids it was obvious that the 135 was really too large for the big-little girl ... the sides were almost touching the floor. . Filly had her new blanket on and the 3 others all had a separate blanket on for the night ... which seems to stay on pretty well overnight.
Then I went to a lecture on nutrition for horses by Salvador in the auditorium of the equine clinic ... Many owners were interested, yes, but unfortunately not those who have large farms where they feed the horses green peppers, lettuce and so on.So what I've found out in December appears to be an everyday thingfor these guys...
The lecture was very interesting and I was pleased to discover that I actually do quite well at home with the feeding of the horses...
But as of tomorrow, I'll change 1 thing... they first get their straw and hay and only half an hour later their grains and mix, so the stomach will work properly and they can not guzzle their morningmix up.
Then I met some wonderfull new people and had some nice conversations ... I really have to get out of my place more.
But when I came home, there was not much left of my enthusiasm . Cubanito and Picollo were standing outside of the paddocks and when I saw the damage to the fence.... my courage dropped into my shoes .... But there was no time for that, I had to put them inside and I had to do emergency repairs on the fence in the middle of the night. I can only suspect what has happened, nothing more. In any case, they have benefited from eating some fresh grass .... and have a little letdown. Hopefully tomorrow it will all be OK. So we can't speak of a quiet 2 months anniversary, can we ?
This morning I have dewormed the 4 youngest ones again, this time with a dose of Equiworm that Marlies had given us. And so far....everything is OK... I've just given them their dinner and everything is going well. I have not seen any worms in the faeces.
All in all a tiring day, but more because of the situation with Chiki. At nightfall I've put him on a blanket .... Marlies had sent a very big one that's just his size ....
And the hay nets have also been tried out today.Even Chiki was allowed to try them out tonight too and he was enjoying his alfalfa and hay ...
So with the arrival of the blankets.... Pretty Face "Aston" is wearing another one tonight...
And we were waiting for our vet Lalo this afternoon ... this time for my own horse Chikiboy.
As Chikiboy had to be sedated , so we could have a better look down his throat, the vet used this situation to do his teeth at the same time... And the other vet Pablo helped to hold Chikiboy in the right position.
The piles of Chiki's manure of today, which you can see on these pictures, were left especially so the vet could see the intestines were working "ok"
The quality of the pictures is limited as they were taken with my cell phone.
The vet also took some blood of Chikiboy to be analysed.
Finally, Lalo also wanted to check the manure of the rescue horses and therefore 2 samples were collected from what had just fallen down while the he was there (everything else was already removed because I clean it up 4-5 times every day, so I really can track down who is doing what where and when) .
Finally organized a new neighbourly gettogether.... now that we know what's going on with the horses and we should not fear about any spreading of bacterias.

Everything was pretty quiet today. I fed the horses, then I went out to go & get straw and bring it to the littlens. I hugged & stayed with them and then I met other people overthere. Then I went back to Antonio to get more straw & I went home. I already paid for the 14 bales at a good price for friends
At home I restored a door & cleaned barley straw...which is starting to bother me too...all the dust, irritating my throat ... but the horses love it so we do it anyways ...
Meanwhile, "our" grass and oats and barley is growing .... and we have NEVER sprayed it with anything... So the boys will soon get a little fresh green ... first a little bit ... just a little handful ...
My neighbour warned me of the poor quality of the water again...
Instantly I remembered a situation of 2 years ago... All the horses of a ranch a little further on, which is connected on the same private waterpipe, all had had colic at the same time. It turned out that the private water supplier connected us on saline water ...
When the neighbour told me that the water tasted so strange, all the memories came back up.
This morning I have therefore taken the decision to submit an application for connection to the municipal water network .... Despite the considerable cost, I can not have it that someone else can cause more problems .... and if I can remedy or prevent it, then I will do so.
So this morning I went to the townhall to get the necessary forms, I went to the water company to ask for the specifications to perform the work and connection & price and then to the register to get some documents of the property .... And the rest will follow ....
and learn a lot in the mean time !
