    Christian def. William Regal
    Evan Bourne def. Jamie Noble
John Morrison def. Kane by disqualification

Thursday night, “WWE Superstars” on WGN America saw a plethora of impressive in-ring action. With Superstars such as John Morrison, Christian, Evan Bourne, William Regal, Kane and Jamie Noble all competing in one-on-one matches, the night was a tutorial on what it takes to be an in-ring warrior.

Don’t know where to catch “WWE Superstars”? Find WGN America in your area. Can't see “WWE Superstars” on WGN America in your area? Stay with WWE.com for full results, photos and video clips of all the action.

Christian def. William Regal (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Three days before Captain Charisma faces ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer for the title, he had to go one-on-one with another in-ring veteran in the hard-hitting William Regal. Throughout the match, the Englishman certainly took it to Christian and at several moments it looked as if the “Peeps” would be disappointed. But thanks to a springboard sunset flip, the crowd was left pleased as Captain Charisma won and gained some important momentum heading into Night of Champions.

Evan Bourne def. Jamie Noble (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Despite suffering a devastating attack by Big Show last week on Raw, “Air” Bourne came back with an impressive victory this week against The Pitbull. It was a back-and-forth match that seemed like it could go either way, with Noble grounding Bourne and thwarting several of his attempts to go to the top rope. In the end, a devastating kick to the head took the bark away from The Pitbull and allowed the young Raw Superstar to live up to the “Air” moniker and hit the Shooting Star Press followed by the 1-2-3.

John Morrison def. Kane by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Impressively, The Friday Night Delight was able to subdue The Big Red Monster for much of their match, frustrating Kane enough to throw a chair in Morrison’s face causing a disqualification. In a match pitting speed and agility vs. strength and power, it seemed that The Shaman of Sexy had the sadistic Superstar’s number until Kane opted to use the chair. After the match, Kane looked to continue the assault until The Great Khali made his way to ringside. With the distraction, Morrison was able to attain a little revenge by striking down The Big Red Machine with a vicious chair shot. This left Kane prone to Khali, but as The Punjabi Playboy grabbed the 7-foot, 300-pound monster, a fear struck Kane kicked free of Khali’s grasp and fled away through the crowd. Does The Big Red Monster have a plan for The Punjabi Giant, or was he fleeing in fear of The Great Khali?

Hardy Wins Title Match Against Morrison, Attacked by CM Punk After Match

    WWE Smackdown
    July 31, 2009
    Baltimore, MD
Report by: Mike Tedesco of WrestleView.com

    Start of Show
We open the show up with a video recap of the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Night of Champions. If you haven’t heard by now, Jeff Hardy shocked the world and defeated CM Punk for the championship. This was a well done video package.

Justin Roberts now introduces the new World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, who comes out to a tremendous applause. Jim Ross and Todd Grisham welcome us to the show. Tonight Jeff Hardy will make his first World Heavyweight Title defense against John Morrison. They show exclusive footage from after Night of Champions, when CM Punk shook the new champion’s hand as a sign of respect.

Hardy says if this is a dream then don’t wake him up because he’s just chillin’ in the imag-i-nation, kicking it Jeff Hardy style, the new World Heavyweight Champion. Hardy says he’s not dreaming. Hardy thanks all the outcasts, rejects, freaks, and all the people who stood with him through thick and thin, and always believed in what he stands for.

Hardy mentions that before Night of Champions, CM Punk said some pretty rotten things to him and the audience. Hardy says that we’re all with him in just saying “no” to being force fed his point of view. The fact is if everyone in the world was just like CM Punk, it’d be a boring world. They’re both different, and that’s why this life is cool. The only thing Hardy is high on is being World Heavyweight Champion for us. Hardy says he was born a free spirit and has beat to his own drum ever since. He’s human, we’re human, and we have the god given right to live life the way we choose, and be who we want to be.

Hardy says Teddy Long has given CM Punk his rematch anytime he wants it against whoever is the champion at that current time. The reason he brings that up is his opponent tonight is one of the most talented guys he’s ever been in the ring with. He shines like no other and that man is John Morrison. Hardy says last time his title reign was way too short and he doesn’t plan on that happening again. Hardy knows he’s in for a fight and warns Baltimore to be ready. Morrison has beaten CM Punk twice and we might be in for one of the most breathtaking, amazing, death-defying main events in Smackdown history! Hardy thanks the crowd.

Mike Chioda checks then for foreign objects and then starts this championship match at 9:30. They circle the ring and lock up. Hardy gets a quick waist lock and Morrison counters out with an arm twist. Morrison grounds him with an arm bar before picking him back up and wrenching the arm. Hardy counters into a hammerlock and then into a headlock. Morrison whips Hardy off but gets shoulder blocked down for a one count. Hardy quickly gets a chin lock on and has it on tight. Morrison powers up and flips Hardy off. Hardy blocks a kick so Morrison hits a pele kick for a two count.

Morrison sends Hardy to the corner hard and covers for a two count. Morrison locks a grounded cobra clutch on (you maggots). Hardy fights up and punches out. Hardy gets a school boy for a one count. Morrison quickly gets up and clotheslines him down for a two count. Morrison locks on a chin lock but Hardy quickly fights up. Morrison cuts him off with a knee before sending him into the ropes. Hardy ducks a clothesline and hits a running forearm. Hardy hits another one before hitting an inverted atomic drop and attempting his double leg to the midsection but Morrison blocks it! Morrison then catapults Hardy over the top rope! Morrison then goes for a vault but Hardy moves and Morrison lands on the apron. Morrison kicks Hardy in the chest and hits an Asai Moonsault! We’ll take a break here!

    -Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Hardy in a chin lock. Morrison has it locked on for a bit until Hardy fights up and attempts to elbow out but Morrison counters with a forearm. Morrison sends Hardy into the ropes but lowers his head and eats a kick. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate but Morrison counters into a jackknife pin for a two count. Morrison hot shots Hardy off the top rope and goes for Starship Pain but Hardy moves and Morrison lands on his feet! Morrison charges into a back elbow and Hardy crushes him with Whisper in the Wind for a near fall!

Hardy hits a snapmare before digging his knee into Morrison’s back and getting a chin lock on. Hardy then changes it into a half nelson neck wrench. Morrison gets to his feet and Hardy clubs him down. Hardy hits a body slam and hits a Hardy Boy Leg Drop off the second rope for a near fall. Hardy locks on a chin lock for a bit. Morrison fights up and tosses Hardy off. Hardy charges into a back heel trip backbreaker. Morrison hits a Russian Leg Sweep before hitting a STANDING Shooting Star Press for a near fall! Wow!

Morrison hits a European Uppercut and hits the ten punches to Hardy in the corner. Morrison hits a neckbreaker for a near fall. Morrison sends Hardy to the corner and charges but Morrison back body drops him over the top rope but Morrison lands on the apron. Morrison and Hardy both punch one another and they’re both on the apron. They both climb the ropes and slug it out. Both men come out the losers here as they stun one another and fall off the second rope to the outside! Morrison took an especially nasty spill here! We’ll take the final commercial break here.

    -Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Morrison and Hardy trading punches with Morrison coming out on top. Morrison goes into the ropes and clotheslines him down. Morrison hits a dropsault before going into the ropes and being taken down by a spinning neckbreaker from Jeff Hardy! Hardy finally takes him down and hits the double leg to the midsection followed by a dropkick to the face for a near fall. Morrison goes to the apron and Hardy hits him with a shoulder thrust. Hardy goes for a sunset flip powerbomb to the outside but Morrison holds on and drops a knee on Hardy’s neck!

Morrison has a whip into the barricade reversed on him and he hits hard! Hardy sets the ring steps up and jumps off them with a flying wheel kick, sandwiching Morrison between the barricade and Hardy! Hardy rolls Morrison into the ring for a near fall. Hardy gets the crowd into it and goes for the Twist of Fate but Morrison pushes him off into the corner. Hardy runs up the corner for the Whisper in the Wind but Morrison moves! Morrison hits a nasty running knee to the face for a near fall!

Hardy is basically out on his feet. Morrison sends him to the corner and goes for the Flying Chuck but Hardy ducks it. Morrison hits a jumping back heel kick and almost lands on Hardy’s face. This gets Morrison a near fall. Morrison punches Hardy a few times before picking him up and having a whip to the corner reversed on him. Hardy charges but Morrison lifts him up, crotching him on the top rope. Morrison hits the Flying Chuck for a near fall! Morrison hits a European Uppercut and goes for the Moonlight Drive but Hardy twists that into a sit-out front suplex. Hardy goes to the top rope and hits the Swanton Bomb! Hardy covers… AND MORRISON KICKS OUT!! When’s the last time anyone kicked out of the Swanton Bomb??

Morrison is seated in the corner so Hardy goes for his slingshot dropkick but Morrison counters into a big kick. Morrison goes for Starship Pain but Hardy gets his legs up! Hardy drops him with the Twist of Fate and goes up to the top rope! Jeff Hardy hits the Swanton Bomb for the second time and pins John Morrison to retain his World Heavyweight Championship!! What a match!!

Winner & STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Jeff Hardy
    Match Rating: *** ¾

Jeff Hardy celebrates in the ring until CM Punk’s music hits. Punk comes down to the ring applauding and applauds John Morrison as he walks up the ramp. Punk gets in the ring and raises Jeff Hardy’s arm in victory. Hardy looks like he doesn’t believe what is going on so CM Punk does it again. Punk then backs off clapping and grabs a microphone. Punk starts out by saying, “The last few weeks…” and then clocks Hardy in the skull with that microphone! Punk now assaults Hardy with clubs and elbows to the back of the neck before throwing him out of the ring! Punk sends Hardy into the security wall twice and continues kicking him! Hardy is busted open from the microphone shot! Punk slams Hardy into the barricade and continues punching him in the back of the neck. Punk now begins elbowing Hardy in the neck and knocks him down with the crowd booing!

Punk goes to walk away but runs back, not having had enough! Punk continues kneeing him in the back before hip tossing him over the announcer’s table! A trainer runs down to clean up Jeff Hardy’s bloody wound as Punk walks up the ramp smiling as the crowd boos him. Punk gets to the top of the ramp and says he wants everyone all over the world to tune into Smackdown next week, because that’s when he’s going to take back HIS World Heavyweight Title!

New World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy puts his title on the line against John Morrsion.

    BALTIMORE
    – Flying high since finally winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy came to SmackDown to celebrate with the WWE Universe (PHOTOS | VIDEO). But being at the top didn’t come without cost. Hardy found himself already defending his title against John Morrison, and suffering a vicious attack from former champion CM Punk.

World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy def. John Morrison (PHOTOS | VIDEO)
Just days after defeating CM Punk to win the World Title (recap), Jeff Hardy put his gold on the line against fiery young Superstar John Morrison. In his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship match, Morrison put Hardy to the test in an epic back-and-forth battle for gold. But the high-flyer prevailed, crushing The Friday Night Delight with a Twist of Fate followed up with a Swanton Bomb.

    CM Punk attacks Hardy
As Hardy basked in the glow of his first successful title defense, CM Punk came to the ring to apparently congratulate Hardy by raising his arm in victory. But then, in an ugly display of poor sportsmanship, The Straightedge Superstar viciously assaulted Hardy amidst a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. The crazed ex-champion reigned down blow upon blow on Hardy, leaving him battered and beaten on the arena floor. Then, just when it appeared Punk was done, he attacked Hardy again, tossing his helpless body across the announce table and onto the arena floor

    PHILADELPHIA
    – For weeks, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk said Jeff Hardy didn’t stand a chance against him. There was no way a flawed man like Hardy could defeat a competitor who follows the straightedge way of life, Punk claimed.

But at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy proved CM Punk wrong when he pinned him in the center of the ring and captured his second World Heavyweight Championship. (PHOTOS)

This victory over Punk was a long time coming for The Charismatic Enigma. Jeff thought his dream of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion had finally come true at Extreme Rules when he defeated Edge in a Ladder Match, but the moment was short-lived. Mere seconds after he grabbed the gold, Hardy had to face CM Punk, who was cashing in his Money in the Bank title opportunity. Battered and tired, Jeff was unable to put up a good fight and The Straightedge Superstar won the title.

At The Bash, Hardy’s frustrations continued. When it seemed as though The Charismatic Enigma had pinned Punk to win the gold, it was revealed that the champion’s foot was under the ropes. When the match was restarted, Punk kicked the referee in the back, resulting in a disqualification and no title change.

But when the two Superstars met again at Night of Champions, there was nothing CM Punk could do to stop Hardy’s drive to win. The World Heavyweight Champion utilized his aggressive and unique offense to slow the Cameron, N.C., native down, but he simply couldn’t break the colorful warrior’s spirit. Even Punk’s brutal finishing maneuver, the Go to Sleep, wasn’t enough to keep Hardy down.

Frustrated with Jeff’s resilience, The Straightedge Superstar grabbed his gold and tried to leave the ring, but the adrenaline junkie dragged him right back in and delivered the Twist of Fate. Then, with 17,774 fans in the Wachovia Center chanting his name, The Charismatic Enigma scaled the top rope and delivered a picture-perfect Swanton Bomb onto Punk, scoring the victory and the title.

After the match, Jeff Hardy passionately celebrated his championship win with the WWE Universe, but the party can’t last for long. If CM Punk’s track record is any indication, the former World Heavyweight Champion is already concocting a scheme to get the title back.

What will happen the next time these two Superstars meet?  Watch the next edition of SmackDown at 8/7 CT on MyNetworkTV to find out.

    The Hardy Boyz (1998–2002)

    Article principal : Hardy Boyz.
The Hardy Boyz avec les WWE World Tag Team Championship

    Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2004-2006)

Cependant, il perd contre Triple H à No Mercy.

Update on Hardy's WWE Contract, Beth& Jeff's Twitter

The word making the rounds at last night's WWE Night of Champions PPV was that new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy has agreed to stay on with the company through SummerSlam reports PWInsider. While nothing has been officially confirmed, Hardy is still being advertised for the event and remained in a new promo that aired on the PPV last night.

For your Twitter fans out there, it should be noted that Jeff Hardy's name was the #1 "Tending Topic" following last night's Night of Champions PPV.

CM Punk started to be interviewed backstage by Josh Mathews, but when he heard the crowd supporting Jeff Hardy , he took the mic and walked into the arena.  Punk stood in the crowd and said he didn't blame the fans for the way they support Jeff Hardy.  He blamed the single-parents, who give their kids whatever they want, because their marriages failed.  Punk said they weren't good parents, they were enablers.  Punk said parents letting their kids look up to Jeff Hardy shows they don't really care at all.  Punk said it "starts with a Jeff Hardy T-Shirt, then they're smoking cigarettes", drinking beer, using illicit street drugs, etc.  It was a great promo, but I wonder if a lot of it went over the heads of the fans

WWE.com, in conjunction with The Academy of Wrestling Arts & Sciences (AWAS), ranks the Top 25 Superstars in wrestling each week with POWER 25. The rankings are based on victories, quality of opponents, momentum and overall in-ring dominance, as well as intangibles. Be sure to check back every Saturday for the latest POWER 25. Here are the rankings for July 25.

This Week Movement Superstar Last Week
    1

JOHN CENA (10) (Watch | Photos)

A win against WWE Champion Randy Orton on Raw was fantastic for Cena. Especially since it may mean the former Champ isn't far from being on top of more than just the Power 25.

    2
    2

RANDY ORTON (9) (Watch | Photos

The Legend Killer was stunned by what happened on Raw, and that might be bad news for him, considering his title will be at risk against Triple H and the man who pinned him on Raw, John Cena.

    1
    3

    JEFF HARDY (Watch | Photos)

Although The Charismatic Enigma should be concentrating more thoroughly on his golden opportunity, a win over Chris Jericho on SmackDown will do nothing but add to his momentum.

    3
    4

    CM PUNK (Watch | Photos)

Although he may not be moving up the list, Punk got the last laugh Friday night after giving the GTS to his nemesis, Jeff Hardy. If the World Heavyweight Champion hits that when it matters, he's sure to retain gold.

    4
    5

    JOHN MORRISON (Watch | Photos)

We've been quite impressed with The Friday Night Delight as of late, and this week he brought the fireworks one night early when he outshined Kane in a disqualification win on "WWE Superstars."

    6
    6

    REY MYSTERIO

The Master of the 619 drops down this week after being brutally attacked by Dolph Ziggler following SmackDown's main event. Does the brash, young Superstar have Mysterio's number?

    5
    7

    KOFI KINGSTON

In light of what Big Show did to the other five men involved in the tag match on Raw, it looks like the United States Champion needs to keep an eye out for The World's Largest Athlete.

    7
    8

    TRIPLE H

On Raw, The Game stated that he doesn't care if he wins the title, he just wants to ensure that Randy Orton is no longer champion. When The King of Kings has his mind set, he usually gets the job done.

    9
    9

    JACK SWAGGER

"The All-American American" may have beaten MVP last week on Raw, but Swagger surely hasn't seen the last of The Ballin' Superstar.

    10
    10

    CHRIS JERICHO

The first-ever Undisputed Champion has  had plenty of issues to deal with lately and hasn't really gotten the best of any of them. He'll really need to turn things around if he doesn't want to fall out of the P25's top 10.

    8
    11

    CHRISTIAN

Captain Charisma may be friends with Tommy Dreamer, but there's no reason to step in the ring if you don't want to be on top. So, for that reason, Christian and Dreamer are at war atop ECW.

    12
    12

    TOMMY DREAMER

Tons and tons of heart is what Tommy Dreamer has, and that is all anchored in the Land of the Extreme. If he loses the ECW Title, he'll be sure to give it his all to regain gold as soon as possible.

    11
    13

    DOLPH ZIGGLER

He may be young, but Dolph Ziggler has proven himself to be wise, albeit perhaps a bit devious at times. The Hollywood, Fla., native certainly has a very bright future ahead of him.

    14
    14

    BIG SHOW

Although Big Show added one to the loss column this week, the devastation The World's Largest Athlete left in the ring following the match really caught the attention of The Academy.

    15
    15

    CODY RHODES & TED DiBIASE

Being on the losing side of action in Raw's main event can't make The Legacy feel good, but we think if they can win the Unified Tag Team Championships, they won't be too sore about the loss.

    13
    16

    MARK HENRY

The World's Strongest Man has been impressive in action lately, and on Raw, despite being attacked with a chair, he got to show his grin after having the last laugh over Chris Jericho.

    17
    17

    MICHELLE McCOOL

If Women's Champion Michelle McCool can successfully defend her title against Melina, she will have beaten the Diva from whom she originally captured the title. The debate continues: Is McCool the best ever?

    16
    18

    MONTEL VONTAVIOUS PORTER

Technically, The Franchise Playa' was victorious on Raw, but we don't think he would have been pleased unless he himself put Jack Swagger down for the three-count.

    18
    19

    MARYSE

Her actions may have been devious, but the Divas Champion got the result she was looking for as we think that Mickie James might be a little less confident when the two come face-to-face this Sunday.

    20
    20

    HART DYNASTY: SMITHNATALYA, KIDD

Things have been going up and down for this impressive triad. Unfortunately for the young Dynasty, on SmackDown, Natalya lost to Eve making this one of those down weeks.

    19
    21

    VLADIMIR KOZLOV

The Moscow Mauler may not have gone one-on-one with anyone on ECW, but it seems as if he wanted to show Ezekiel Jackson how it's done, annihilating his opponent after Jackson's match.

    22
    22

    KANE

Since returning, there's definitely been a change in The Big Red Monster. Sure, his sadistic side would certainly attack John Morrison with a chair, but standing down from The Great Khali, that's just weird.

    21
    23

    MELINA

Redemption could be within Melina's grasp, and if she is able to obtain it, it's coming with the Women's Championship and a regaining of her throne at the top of SmackDown's Diva division.

    23
    24

    SHELTON BENJAMIN

When The Gold Standard was set to face Goldust in the Land of the Extreme, there was sure to be an inflation of one of these Superstars' egos, and not surprisingly, it was that of Shelton Benjamin.

    NR
    25

    MICKIE JAMES

After being out of action and being blinded by Divas Champion Maryse when the French Diva interrupted her interview, Mickie James is on the brink of falling off the P25 if she doesn't win the title.

    24

    FAREWELL

The following Superstar(s) failed to maintain their position on the P25 this week:

Zack Ryder - After breaking onto the list last week, the Long Island native was not in action, causing him to fall off the list as quickly as he got on.

    OTHERS EARNING VOTES

The following Superstar(s) also received votes from members of The Academy:

Yoshi Tatsu - If Tatsu continues to impress in the ring, it's only a matter of time before he lands on the list.

The Great Khali - The Punjabi Playboy not only defeated Mike Knox on SmackDown, but it seems as though Khali also has Kane on the run.

Hornswoggle - Thanks perhaps to some wardrobe adjustments on Chavo Guerrero's tuxedo, 'Swoggle is now 3-0 against the self-proclaimed "Mexican Warrior" in the last three weeks.

This Week Movement Superstar Last Week
    1

RANDY ORTON (12) (Watch | Photos)

The WWE Champion hasn't had good luck with Raw's special guest hosts, and this week was no different as Seth Green put himself, John Cena & Triple H against Orton & The Legacy.

    1
    2

JOHN CENA (7) (Watch | Photos)

After coming to Seth Green's aid in the main event, Cena might have been standing the tallest after Raw, but not tall enough to dethrone Orton from the No. 1 spot on this week's list.

    2
    3

    JEFF HARDY (Watch | Photos)

Although it was by disqualification thanks to World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, The Extreme Enigma teamed with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown and was victorious by disqualification.

    3
    4

    CM PUNK (Watch | Photos)

Not only did The World Heavyweight Champion lose to John Morrison at the start of SmackDown, but he also gave Jeff Hardy more momentum heading into Night of Champions with a disqualification victory.

    4
    5

    REY MYSTERIO (Watch | Photos)

Not only did Mysterio get the last laugh over Dolph Ziggler on "WWE Superstars," but he also got the "W" on SmackDown in tag team action against Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler by the other duo getting disqualified.

    5
    6

    JOHN MORRISON

Soaring up the Power 25 with not much looking like it can stop this fast-rising Superstar, The Friday Night Delight picked up a huge win over World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk on SmackDown.

    8
    7

    KOFI KINGSTON

Although he did what was right by helping Evan Bourne on Raw, the United States Champion bit off a lot more than he could chew on "WWE Superstars," as he was on the losing side of action against Big Show.

    7
    8

    CHRIS JERICHO

Jericho may have lost two matches this week, but he did get the last laugh at the end of the week, and with neither loss being by submission or pinfall, it's enough to gain him one spot on the P25.

    9
    9

    TRIPLE H

With his trusty sledgehammer in his hand, The Game helped clear the ring of The Legacy at the end of Raw. Afterward, he hoisted special guest host Seth Green on his shoulders and celebrated in the ring.

    10
    10

    JACK SWAGGER

Following last week's altercation with MVP on the VIP Lounge, "The All-American American" was able to back up what he said with a victory, but we doubt this is the last he's seen of The Franchise Playa'.

    14
    11

    TOMMY DREAMER

Nothing seems to be going Dreamer's way in the Land of Extreme and the ECW Champion's loss to Vladimir Kozlov on Tuesday night, including the post-match attack, doesn't make things any better.

    11
    12

    CHRISTIAN

Not only did Captain Charisma lose to Shelton Benjamin on ECW on Syfy, but when he tried to come to stop Vladimir Kozlov's attack on ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer, he was laid out for his efforts.

    12
    13

    CODY RHODES & TED DiBIASE

The Legacy may not have been victorious on Raw, but they didn't lose either. Also, both Rhodes & DiBiase escaped a sledgehammer-wielding Triple H virtually unscathed.

    13
    14

    DOLPH ZIGGLER

Thanks to a disqualification, Ziggler may have lost on SmackDown, but that doesn't spoil the fact that he has an Intercontinental Championship Match against Mysterio at Night of Champions.

    16
    15

    BIG SHOW

On both Raw and "WWE Superstars" The World's Largest Athlete looked quite impressive as he picked up a submission win over Evan Bourne and a pinfall victory against United States Champ Kofi Kingston.

    18

    MICHELLE McCOOL

A week of nothing does not bode well for the Women's Champion, especially with Night of Champions fast approaching. We wonder if McCool will be mentally prepared when she has to defend her title that night.

    17

    MARK HENRY

At one moment, it looked as if The World's Strongest Man was about to make an unholy alliance with Chris Jericho. The next saw Henry pounding on Jericho until he was scampering away to the locker room.

    20
    18

    MONTEL VONTAVIOUS PORTER

After what was said to him last week, we're surprised that Jack Swagger is still living no-less walking away the victor on Raw. One thing we know though - The Franchise Playa' isn't finished yet.

    17

    HART DYNASTY: SMITHNATALYA, KIDD

A split week this week leaves The Hart Dynasty staying at 19. These three need to figure out a way to get Cryme Tyme out of their hair for good if they want to focus on going after the tag team gold.

    19
    20

    MARYSE

The Divas Champion must be elated that in her Summer Swimsuit Spectacular Tag Match on Raw, she picked up the win over her rival and the No. 1 contender to her title, Mickie James.

    21
    21

    KANE

Ever since returning, The Big Red Monster has been on a roll, and that ended up being unfortunate for R-Truth this week, as when the steamroller came rolling through, he was stuck right in front of it.

    23
    22

    VLADIMIR KOZLOV

The beating Kozlov gave out on Tuesday was certainly from Russia, but definitely not with love in part of it. Both ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer and No. 1 contender Christian can attest to that.

    NR
    23

    MELINA

Thanks in part to Mickie James' loss, Melina moves up a spot this week without doing a thing. Her luck isn't going to stay this way for long, so she better get back in the ring if she wants to stay on the Power25.

    24
    24

    MICKIE JAMES

With Night of Champions coming quickly, Mickie James needs to turn things around so that she has the momentum on her side when she finally comes face to face with Maryse for the Divas Title.

    22
    25

    ZACK RYDER

Things seem to be on the up-and-up for the Long Island Native as, despite having to face one of ECW's more bizarre Superstars, Ryder was able to keep on track and pick up the win.

    NR

    FAREWELL

The following Superstar(s) failed to maintain their position on the P25 this week:

Edge - Thanks to a torn Achilles tendon, The Rated-R Superstar is now out of action and off the P25.

Finlay - Unfortunately for the Irishman, no match this week means that we have no choice but to drop him off the POWER 25.

    OTHERS EARNING VOTES

The following Superstar(s) also received votes from members of The Academy:

Yoshi Tatsu - Leading the charge for ECW, several impressive wins in recent weeks has Yoshi getting our attention.

Shelton Benjamin - Perhaps the veteran of the three ECW Superstars getting votes, Benjamin would like nothing more than to earn his spot back on the list.

Sheamus - Just like Yoshi above, Sheamus has been making the jaws of The Academy drop in his last few performances with an astounding dominance over his opponents.

Jeff Hardy Gets Revenge on Chris Jericho

Jeff Hardy Gets Revenge on Chris Jericho

    WWE Smackdown
    July 24, 2009
    Richmond, VA
Report by: Mike Tedesco of WrestleView.com

The show opens with a highlight video showcasing last week’s main event featuring Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio teaming up to take on Dolph Ziggler and Chris Jericho. CM Punk was ringside and Hardy threw Jericho toward his way – intentionally we do not know. CM Punk answered by throwing Jericho into Hardy, getting Hardy and Mysterio disqualified. Mysterio was then attacked by Ziggler and Jericho locked Hardy in the Walls of Jericho while CM Punk watched on and did nothing.

The Smackdown video plays and we’re brought into the arena with a great pyro display. Jim Ross and Todd Grisham welcome us to the show and announce our Main Event will be Champion versus Champion as Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio will take on World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk.

Jeff Hardy’s music and the Charismatic Enigma is making his way to the ring for a match. Hardy gets a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Hardy grabs a microphone and is amazed by the reception. Hardy says last week CM Punk said he would wind up as a statistic. Punk also said he despises the example he’s set for us, the WWE Universe. Hardy said he’ll despise it more when he becomes World Heavyweight Champion. Hardy says Punk comes out on his soapbox and preaches his Straightedge lifestyle, trying to shove it down everyone’s throats, and he’s sick of it. Hardy says after Night of Champions the preaching will be over because the WWE Universe will be living in the moment with him.

As for his opponent Chris Jericho is concerned, he’s probably more worried about finding a partner for this Sunday but tonight he should be more worried about him. Hardy says he hasn’t forgotten about what Jericho did to him last week. Tonight it’s time for Jericho’s walls to come tumbling down. Hardy then thanks Richmond, Virginia.

Chris Jericho’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring.

    Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho

The match begins and they circle the ring. Hardy ducks a lock up attempt and takes Jericho down with a waist lock takeover. Hardy grounds and pounds Jericho until he desperately rolls out of the ring. Hardy follows and sends Jericho into the barricade. Hardy throws him into it again and throws him back in the ring. Hardy clubs Jericho and stomps him down in the corner. Jericho answers with a kick and a forearm. Jericho has a whip reversed on him and Hardy hits him with a back elbow. Jericho reverses a whip now into the corner but Hardy counters with a slingshot. Jericho catches him on his shoulders so Hardy hits him with a head-scissors takeover. Hardy clotheslines Jericho out of the ring.

Hardy goes for a slingshot baseball slide but Jericho catches his legs and pulls him out of the ring! Hardy lands with a sickening thump on his back! That’s a candidate for Bump of the Night! We’ll take a commercial here.

    -Commercial Break-

We come back from the break to see Jericho drop Hardy with a neckbreaker. Jericho now locks him in a grounded arm trap chin lock. Jericho holds it in for a bit until Hardy gets up at the will of the fans. Hardy elbows out, goes into the ropes, ducks a clothesline, and drops Jericho with a cross-body block for a two count. Jericho gets up and drops Hardy with a step-up enzuigiri for a two count. Jericho doesn’t agree with the referee’s count but it stands.

Jericho stomps Hardy and drops him with a big right hand. Jericho taunts the crowd, saying that Hardy is “nothing.” Jericho steps on Hardy’s chest and kicks him a few times arrogantly. Hardy soon gets up and punches back. Hardy whips Jericho into the corner and charges but Jericho sidesteps him. Jericho goes to the second rope and comes off with a Bret “Hitman” Hart style elbow drop. Jericho covers and puts his feet on the ropes but the referee catches Jericho at the count of two. Jericho chokes Hardy on the second rope until the referee makes him get off. Jericho then catapults him neck first into the second rope in a guillotine. This gets Jericho a near fall. Jericho continues hammering away at Hardy. The crowd is willing him on but is getting nothing. Jericho gets a chin lock on but Hardy is able to fight up and elbow out. Jericho cuts him off with a kick to the midsection. Jericho goes into the ropes and Hardy finally takes him down with a flying neckbreaker drop.

Hardy comes back with a pair of running forearms. Jericho angrily goes into the ropes and Hardy hits him with an inverted atomic drop. Hardy hits the double leg drop to the midsection followed by a low dropkick to the face for a near fall. Hardy hits a beautiful sit-out inverted suplex and goes to the top rope. Hardy comes off with the Swanton Bomb but Jericho rolls out of the way! Jericho quickly goes into the ropes and hits the Lionsault for a near fall!

Jericho can’t believe it. Jericho attempts to lock Hardy in the Walls of Jericho but Hardy powers him off. Jericho tries it again but Hardy counters with an inside cradle for a near fall. Jericho blocks a kick so Hardy counters with his flipping mule kick. Jericho is sitting in the corner so Hardy goes for his slingshot dropkick but Jericho catches his legs and locks Hardy in the Walls of Jericho! Jericho has it locked on tight and Hardy is in pain until he finally reaches the ropes! Jericho stomps at Hardy and goes for the Walls of Jericho again. Hardy refuses to allow that to happen, hitting Jericho with punches, so Jericho catapults him into the corner but Hardy lands on the second rope and climbs up to hit a BEAUTIFUL Whisper in the Wind! Hardy covers for a near fall!

Hardy is getting the crowd into it and goes for a Twist of Fate but Jericho turns him and hits the Codebreaker! The force sends Hardy out of the ring, unbeknownst to Jericho, who looks around for Hardy looking to make the cover. This was some good comedy. Jericho goes outside but Hardy is knocked out. Jericho lifts the dead weight and puts him in the ring for a near fall!

Jericho is frustrated and begins kicking Hardy in the ribs. Jericho goes into the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Hardy counters with a Twist of Fate! Hardy takes his shirt off and goes to the top rope. Jericho gets up and sweeps out Hardy’s feet. Jericho goes for a superplex but Hardy punches and head-butts him off. Hardy hits a nice Swanton Bomb for the big win!! This was a fantastic match!!

    Winner by Pinfall: Jeff Hardy
