Thursday night, WWE Superstars on WGN America saw a plethora of impressive in-ring action. With Superstars such as John Morrison, Christian, Evan Bourne, William Regal, Kane and Jamie Noble all competing in one-on-one matches, the night was a tutorial on what it takes to be an in-ring warrior.

Christian def. William Regal (PHOTOS | WATCH) Three days before Captain Charisma faces ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer for the title, he had to go one-on-one with another in-ring veteran in the hard-hitting William Regal. Throughout the match, the Englishman certainly took it to Christian and at several moments it looked as if the Peeps would be disappointed. But thanks to a springboard sunset flip, the crowd was left pleased as Captain Charisma won and gained some important momentum heading into Night of Champions.
Evan Bourne def. Jamie Noble (PHOTOS | WATCH) Despite suffering a devastating attack by Big Show last week on Raw, Air Bourne came back with an impressive victory this week against The Pitbull. It was a back-and-forth match that seemed like it could go either way, with Noble grounding Bourne and thwarting several of his attempts to go to the top rope. In the end, a devastating kick to the head took the bark away from The Pitbull and allowed the young Raw Superstar to live up to the Air moniker and hit the Shooting Star Press followed by the 1-2-3.
John Morrison def. Kane by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH) Impressively, The Friday Night Delight was able to subdue The Big Red Monster for much of their match, frustrating Kane enough to throw a chair in Morrisons face causing a disqualification. In a match pitting speed and agility vs. strength and power, it seemed that The Shaman of Sexy had the sadistic Superstars number until Kane opted to use the chair. After the match, Kane looked to continue the assault until The Great Khali made his way to ringside. With the distraction, Morrison was able to attain a little revenge by striking down The Big Red Machine with a vicious chair shot. This left Kane prone to Khali, but as The Punjabi Playboy grabbed the 7-foot, 300-pound monster, a fear struck Kane kicked free of Khalis grasp and fled away through the crowd. Does The Big Red Monster have a plan for The Punjabi Giant, or was he fleeing in fear of The Great Khali?

New World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy puts his title on the line against John Morrsion.
BALTIMORE Flying high since finally winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy came to SmackDown to celebrate with the WWE Universe (PHOTOS | VIDEO). But being at the top didnt come without cost. Hardy found himself already defending his title against John Morrison, and suffering a vicious attack from former champion CM Punk.
World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy def. John Morrison (PHOTOS | VIDEO) Just days after defeating CM Punk to win the World Title (recap), Jeff Hardy put his gold on the line against fiery young Superstar John Morrison. In his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship match, Morrison put Hardy to the test in an epic back-and-forth battle for gold. But the high-flyer prevailed, crushing The Friday Night Delight with a Twist of Fate followed up with a Swanton Bomb.
CM Punk attacks Hardy As Hardy basked in the glow of his first successful title defense, CM Punk came to the ring to apparently congratulate Hardy by raising his arm in victory. But then, in an ugly display of poor sportsmanship, The Straightedge Superstar viciously assaulted Hardy amidst a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. The crazed ex-champion reigned down blow upon blow on Hardy, leaving him battered and beaten on the arena floor. Then, just when it appeared Punk was done, he attacked Hardy again, tossing his helpless body across the announce table and onto the arena floor
PHILADELPHIA For weeks, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk said Jeff Hardy didnt stand a chance against him. There was no way a flawed man like Hardy could defeat a competitor who follows the straightedge way of life, Punk claimed.
But at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy proved CM Punk wrong when he pinned him in the center of the ring and captured his second World Heavyweight Championship. (PHOTOS)
This victory over Punk was a long time coming for The Charismatic Enigma. Jeff thought his dream of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion had finally come true at Extreme Rules when he defeated Edge in a Ladder Match, but the moment was short-lived. Mere seconds after he grabbed the gold, Hardy had to face CM Punk, who was cashing in his Money in the Bank title opportunity. Battered and tired, Jeff was unable to put up a good fight and The Straightedge Superstar won the title.
At The Bash, Hardys frustrations continued. When it seemed as though The Charismatic Enigma had pinned Punk to win the gold, it was revealed that the champions foot was under the ropes. When the match was restarted, Punk kicked the referee in the back, resulting in a disqualification and no title change.
But when the two Superstars met again at Night of Champions, there was nothing CM Punk could do to stop Hardys drive to win. The World Heavyweight Champion utilized his aggressive and unique offense to slow the Cameron, N.C., native down, but he simply couldnt break the colorful warriors spirit. Even Punks brutal finishing maneuver, the Go to Sleep, wasnt enough to keep Hardy down.
Frustrated with Jeffs resilience, The Straightedge Superstar grabbed his gold and tried to leave the ring, but the adrenaline junkie dragged him right back in and delivered the Twist of Fate. Then, with 17,774 fans in the Wachovia Center chanting his name, The Charismatic Enigma scaled the top rope and delivered a picture-perfect Swanton Bomb onto Punk, scoring the victory and the title.
After the match, Jeff Hardy passionately celebrated his championship win with the WWE Universe, but the party cant last for long. If CM Punks track record is any indication, the former World Heavyweight Champion is already concocting a scheme to get the title back.
What will happen the next time these two Superstars meet? Watch the next edition of SmackDown at 8/7 CT on MyNetworkTV to find out.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2004-2006)

For your Twitter fans out there, it should be noted that Jeff Hardy's name was the #1 "Tending Topic" following last night's Night of Champions PPV.
source: wrestleview --------------- Speaking of Twitter, Jeff and his girlfriend Beth has updated their twitter accounts. To view Jeff's tweets, go to JeffHardyBrand while Beth's is BethBrittBrand. Beth also uploaded a photo of Jeff at the hotel in her TwitPic, without the belt as Jeff Hardy's name was still being put on it.
CM Punk started to be interviewed backstage by Josh Mathews, but when he heard the crowd supporting Jeff Hardy
, he took the mic and walked into the arena. Punk stood in the crowd and said he didn't blame the fans for the way they support Jeff Hardy. He blamed the single-parents, who give their kids whatever they want, because their marriages failed. Punk said they weren't good parents, they were enablers. Punk said parents letting their kids look up to Jeff Hardy shows they don't really care at all. Punk said it "starts with a Jeff Hardy T-Shirt, then they're smoking cigarettes", drinking beer, using illicit street drugs, etc. It was a great promo, but I wonder if a lot of it went over the heads of the fans

A win against WWE Champion Randy Orton on Raw was fantastic for Cena. Especially since it may mean the former Champ isn't far from being on top of more than just the Power 25.
The Legend Killer was stunned by what happened on Raw, and that might be bad news for him, considering his title will be at risk against Triple H and the man who pinned him on Raw, John Cena.
Although The Charismatic Enigma should be concentrating more thoroughly on his golden opportunity, a win over Chris Jericho on SmackDown will do nothing but add to his momentum.
Although he may not be moving up the list, Punk got the last laugh Friday night after giving the GTS to his nemesis, Jeff Hardy. If the World Heavyweight Champion hits that when it matters, he's sure to retain gold.
We've been quite impressed with The Friday Night Delight as of late, and this week he brought the fireworks one night early when he outshined Kane in a disqualification win on "WWE Superstars."
The Master of the 619 drops down this week after being brutally attacked by Dolph Ziggler following SmackDown's main event. Does the brash, young Superstar have Mysterio's number?
In light of what Big Show did to the other five men involved in the tag match on Raw, it looks like the United States Champion needs to keep an eye out for The World's Largest Athlete.
On Raw, The Game stated that he doesn't care if he wins the title, he just wants to ensure that Randy Orton is no longer champion. When The King of Kings has his mind set, he usually gets the job done.
The first-ever Undisputed Champion has had plenty of issues to deal with lately and hasn't really gotten the best of any of them. He'll really need to turn things around if he doesn't want to fall out of the P25's top 10.
Captain Charisma may be friends with Tommy Dreamer, but there's no reason to step in the ring if you don't want to be on top. So, for that reason, Christian and Dreamer are at war atop ECW.
Tons and tons of heart is what Tommy Dreamer has, and that is all anchored in the Land of the Extreme. If he loses the ECW Title, he'll be sure to give it his all to regain gold as soon as possible.
He may be young, but Dolph Ziggler has proven himself to be wise, albeit perhaps a bit devious at times. The Hollywood, Fla., native certainly has a very bright future ahead of him.
Although Big Show added one to the loss column this week, the devastation The World's Largest Athlete left in the ring following the match really caught the attention of The Academy.
Being on the losing side of action in Raw's main event can't make The Legacy feel good, but we think if they can win the Unified Tag Team Championships, they won't be too sore about the loss.
The World's Strongest Man has been impressive in action lately, and on Raw, despite being attacked with a chair, he got to show his grin after having the last laugh over Chris Jericho.
If Women's Champion Michelle McCool can successfully defend her title against Melina, she will have beaten the Diva from whom she originally captured the title. The debate continues: Is McCool the best ever?
Technically, The Franchise Playa' was victorious on Raw, but we don't think he would have been pleased unless he himself put Jack Swagger down for the three-count.
Her actions may have been devious, but the Divas Champion got the result she was looking for as we think that Mickie James might be a little less confident when the two come face-to-face this Sunday.
Things have been going up and down for this impressive triad. Unfortunately for the young Dynasty, on SmackDown, Natalya lost to Eve making this one of those down weeks.
The Moscow Mauler may not have gone one-on-one with anyone on ECW, but it seems as if he wanted to show Ezekiel Jackson how it's done, annihilating his opponent after Jackson's match.
Since returning, there's definitely been a change in The Big Red Monster. Sure, his sadistic side would certainly attack John Morrison with a chair, but standing down from The Great Khali, that's just weird.
Redemption could be within Melina's grasp, and if she is able to obtain it, it's coming with the Women's Championship and a regaining of her throne at the top of SmackDown's Diva division.
When The Gold Standard was set to face Goldust in the Land of the Extreme, there was sure to be an inflation of one of these Superstars' egos, and not surprisingly, it was that of Shelton Benjamin.
After being out of action and being blinded by Divas Champion Maryse when the French Diva interrupted her interview, Mickie James is on the brink of falling off the P25 if she doesn't win the title.

The following Superstar(s) failed to maintain their position on the P25 this week:
Zack Ryder - After breaking onto the list last week, the Long Island native was not in action, causing him to fall off the list as quickly as he got on.
OTHERS EARNING VOTES
The following Superstar(s) also received votes from members of The Academy:
Yoshi Tatsu - If Tatsu continues to impress in the ring, it's only a matter of time before he lands on the list.
The Great Khali - The Punjabi Playboy not only defeated Mike Knox on SmackDown, but it seems as though Khali also has Kane on the run.
Hornswoggle- Thanks perhaps to some wardrobe adjustments on Chavo Guerrero's tuxedo, 'Swoggle is now 3-0 against the self-proclaimed "Mexican Warrior" in the last three weeks.
WWE superstar Triple H turned 40 last night -- and his post-Monday NightRAW birthday celebration quickly erupted into a no-holds-barred cake smashing massacre!!!
Almost everyone at WWE, including John Cena, Big Show, Vince McMahon and Batista, joined the dessert firing squad -- and, for once, it didn't look like they were entirely faking it.

The WWE Champion hasn't had good luck with Raw's special guest hosts, and this week was no different as Seth Green put himself, John Cena & Triple H against Orton & The Legacy.
After coming to Seth Green's aid in the main event, Cena might have been standing the tallest after Raw, but not tall enough to dethrone Orton from the No. 1 spot on this week's list.
Although it was by disqualification thanks to World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, The Extreme Enigma teamed with Rey Mysterio on SmackDown and was victorious by disqualification.
Not only did The World Heavyweight Champion lose to John Morrison at the start of SmackDown, but he also gave Jeff Hardy more momentum heading into Night of Champions with a disqualification victory.
Not only did Mysterio get the last laugh over Dolph Ziggler on "WWE Superstars," but he also got the "W" on SmackDown in tag team action against Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler by the other duo getting disqualified.
Soaring up the Power 25 with not much looking like it can stop this fast-rising Superstar, The Friday Night Delight picked up a huge win over World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk on SmackDown.
Although he did what was right by helping Evan Bourne on Raw, the United States Champion bit off a lot more than he could chew on "WWE Superstars," as he was on the losing side of action against Big Show.
Jericho may have lost two matches this week, but he did get the last laugh at the end of the week, and with neither loss being by submission or pinfall, it's enough to gain him one spot on the P25.
With his trusty sledgehammer in his hand, The Game helped clear the ring of The Legacy at the end of Raw. Afterward, he hoisted special guest host Seth Green on his shoulders and celebrated in the ring.
Following last week's altercation with MVP on the VIP Lounge, "The All-American American" was able to back up what he said with a victory, but we doubt this is the last he's seen of The Franchise Playa'.
Nothing seems to be going Dreamer's way in the Land of Extreme and the ECW Champion's loss to Vladimir Kozlov on Tuesday night, including the post-match attack, doesn't make things any better.
Not only did Captain Charisma lose to Shelton Benjamin on ECW on Syfy, but when he tried to come to stop Vladimir Kozlov's attack on ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer, he was laid out for his efforts.
The Legacy may not have been victorious on Raw, but they didn't lose either. Also, both Rhodes & DiBiase escaped a sledgehammer-wielding Triple H virtually unscathed.
Thanks to a disqualification, Ziggler may have lost on SmackDown, but that doesn't spoil the fact that he has an Intercontinental Championship Match against Mysterio at Night of Champions.
On both Raw and "WWE Superstars" The World's Largest Athlete looked quite impressive as he picked up a submission win over Evan Bourne and a pinfall victory against United States Champ Kofi Kingston.
A week of nothing does not bode well for the Women's Champion, especially with Night of Champions fast approaching. We wonder if McCool will be mentally prepared when she has to defend her title that night.
At one moment, it looked as if The World's Strongest Man was about to make an unholy alliance with Chris Jericho. The next saw Henry pounding on Jericho until he was scampering away to the locker room.
After what was said to him last week, we're surprised that Jack Swagger is still living no-less walking away the victor on Raw. One thing we know though - The Franchise Playa' isn't finished yet.
A split week this week leaves The Hart Dynasty staying at 19. These three need to figure out a way to get Cryme Tyme out of their hair for good if they want to focus on going after the tag team gold.
The Divas Champion must be elated that in her Summer Swimsuit Spectacular Tag Match on Raw, she picked up the win over her rival and the No. 1 contender to her title, Mickie James.
Ever since returning, The Big Red Monster has been on a roll, and that ended up being unfortunate for R-Truth this week, as when the steamroller came rolling through, he was stuck right in front of it.
The beating Kozlov gave out on Tuesday was certainly from Russia, but definitely not with love in part of it. Both ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer and No. 1 contender Christian can attest to that.
Thanks in part to Mickie James' loss, Melina moves up a spot this week without doing a thing. Her luck isn't going to stay this way for long, so she better get back in the ring if she wants to stay on the Power25.
With Night of Champions coming quickly, Mickie James needs to turn things around so that she has the momentum on her side when she finally comes face to face with Maryse for the Divas Title.
Things seem to be on the up-and-up for the Long Island Native as, despite having to face one of ECW's more bizarre Superstars, Ryder was able to keep on track and pick up the win.

Edge - Thanks to a torn Achilles tendon, The Rated-R Superstar is now out of action and off the P25.
Finlay - Unfortunately for the Irishman, no match this week means that we have no choice but to drop him off the POWER 25.

The following Superstar(s) also received votes from members of The Academy:
Yoshi Tatsu - Leading the charge for ECW, several impressive wins in recent weeks has Yoshi getting our attention.
Shelton Benjamin - Perhaps the veteran of the three ECW Superstars getting votes, Benjamin would like nothing more than to earn his spot back on the list.
Sheamus- Just like Yoshi above, Sheamus has been making the jaws of The Academy drop in his last few performances with an astounding dominance over his opponents.

The World's Strongest Man hasn't been on Raw for long, but he's already made an impact. A victory over Cody Rhodes on Monday further cements his must-watch status.

Hardy says after Night of Champions the preaching will be over because the WWE Universe will be living in the moment with him.
As for his opponent Chris Jericho is concerned, hes probably more worried about finding a partner for this Sunday but tonight he should be more worried about him. While no one in the company has alerted anyone internally about this, the belief in WWE is that Jeff Hardy's departure is imminent as his contract with the company is up at the end of the month and is not booked on any house show events at the end of the month reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Those close to Hardy believe he will end up working the SummerSlam PPV on August 23 as his final show with the company even though his contract would expire a few weeks earlier. While no one in WWE is outright happy that Hardy is leaving at a time when things on Smackdown are lacking on the babyface side, he is getting praise for willingly putting CM Punk over at house show events every night and working hard and putting forth quality main events on his way out.
