The crowd is really hot for Jeff Hardy in Hot-lanta as were set to begin this match. The bell rings and this feels like a title match (it isnt) as both competitors are still warming up. The two lock up and roll along the ropes. They stop in the corner and the lock up is broken up. The Tazz says theyre feeling each other out. The two competitors lock up again and they jockey for position. Hardy grabs Benjamins arm and wrenches it. He wrenches it some more and locks in a standing arm bar. Benjamin is fighting to get out of it and finally does with a drop toe hold and locks in a side headlock. Jeff Hardy fights up to his feet and pushes the Gold Standard into the ropes and whips him off. Benjamin goes into the ropes and levels him with a shoulder block for a two count. Benjamin now has Hardy in a sitting face lock and switches between that and a chin lock. Hardy again fights up to his feet and punches out of the hold but Benjamin kicks him and locks in the headlock again. This crowd is really hot tonight. I love a good crowd.
Hardy pushes Benjamin into the ropes and throws him off. As Benjamin comes off the ropes Hardy drops down so Benjamin jumps over him and comes off the ropes again into a hip toss. Benjamin is quickly up and gets taken down by an arm drag and Hardy locks in an arm bar. Benjamin is fighting and finally gets up and pushes Hardy into the corner, legally obligating him to break the hold. Benjamin, however, doesnt feel obligated to make it a clean break as he kicks and punches the Rainbow Haired Warrior. The referee finally gets Benjamin off and really gets in his face. Charles Robinson rules.
Benjamin goes back to the corner and kicks him and then picks him up out of the corner. Benjamin hits a snapmare and gets Hardy in a chinlock again. Hardy is really fighting this one as he gets up and elbows out. Benjamin stops it with a kick and pushes Hardy into the ropes who in turn comes off the ropes and kicks him in the face. Hardy goes for a kick but Benjamin catches him and Hardy hits that nice flipping mule kick sending the Gold Standard out of the ring. Hardy follows it up with a slingshot baseball slide, knocking Benjamin down again on the outside. Benjamin now gets up and Hardy hits a nice crossbody Plancha. The crowd is happy with that result as Hardy picks Benjamin up and rolls him back into the ring. Hardy hits a body slam and walks towards the corner and climbs up to the second rope before Benjamin quickly gets up and jumps up to the top rope like a cat and starts punching Hardy. Hardy fights back and pushes him off and goes for a Swanton Bomb but Benjamin rolls out of the way and Hardy crashes and burns! Benjamin slowly crawls over for a close two count! So far so good as we go to commercial.
:::Commercial Break:::
As we come back from the break we see Benjamin holding Hardys hair while kneeing his back and then he violently locks in another chinlock. Hardys facial expressions while selling the hold are fantastic. Benjamin is doing a great job too. Hardy gets up to his feet and tries to punch out of it but Benjamin takes Hardys face and slams the back of his head against the canvas for a close two count. Benjamin picks Hardy up and tries to punch him but Benjamin stops him. Hardy is in the corner now and Benjamin is punching and head-butting Hardy in the corner. Hardy finally punches back as does Benjamin. This is turning into a brawl as both men are punching each other but Jeff Hardy gets the upper hand and headlocks him but its brief as hes pushed into the corner and Hardy scales up the ropes for Whisper in the Wind but Benjamin is quickly behind him and takes his leg out and Hardy lands crotch first on the top rope and back flips off to the mat! Benjamin drags him to the middle of the ring for a close two count again! Benjamin cant believe it! Benjamin is kicking Hardy in the hamstring and drags him to the ropes and hangs his foot on the bottom rope and jumps on it. Theyre selling the knee injury from Saturday Nights Main Event. Good continuity FINALLY!
Benjamin has Hardy up and hits a chop block to the back of the left knee and Hardy goes down and thats another close two count. Benjamin is doing everything he can to wrench Hardys knee and really break it. He has him in a leg lock and Hardy is reaching for the ropes but Benjamin drags him to the middle of the ring again and locks in a single leg Boston Crab. Hardy is in pain but he wont quit. Benjamin breaks the hold and kicks the knee some more. Jeff Hardy is up and only has one good leg and hes fighting back, punching Benjamin. Benjamin stops the comeback with a simple kick to the knee. Benjamin is now stepping on Hardys head. Thats just rubbing salt in the wounds you jerk! Just kidding he was nice enough to hold himself up on the ropes so he didnt really hurt him. Benjamin now drags him to the middle and locks in the single leg Boston Crab again. Hardy eventually gets to the ropes and rolls out of the ring.
Hardy is hobbling around outside on one leg and finally drops down. Hardy is pulling himself up on the barricade as Benjamin goes to the apron and jumps off into the foot of Jeff Hardy! Both men are now down on the outside. Hardy is the first up and he throws Benjamin back into the ring. Hardy is now punching Benjamin and whips him in the ropes and goes for a back drop but Benjamin grabs him by the hair and throws him into the ropes and Hardy comes off with a clothesline! Benjamin is up quickly and Hardy takes him down with a running forearm for a two count. Hardy goes to whip Benjamin into the ropes again but Benjamin twists the arm and hangs on but Hardy jumps and hits a spinning neckbreaker on the United States Champion for another close two count! Hardy is moving his leg to get some life back into it and goes to whip Benjamin into the corner but Benjamin reverses and Hardy scales the corner for a Whisper in the Wind! The crowd is really into it now as Hardy gets another near fall!
Benjamin kicks Hardy but Hardy hits his trademark jawbreaker and Benjamin falls into the corner and sits. Hardy goes for that slingshot dropkick but Benjamin was playing possum as he quickly (and impressively) gets Hardy on his shoulder and hits a running powerslam for a really close two count!! Nice spot!! Benjamin is really frustrated and is waiting for Hardy to get up and this crowd is nuts! Hardy is up and Benjamin goes for Pay Dirt but Hardy pushes him off and hits the Twist of Fate!! Now Hardy goes up to the top rope and hits the Swanton Bomb but MVP is running on the outside and gets in the ring and does that Player Kick to Hardys head, causing the disqualification.
Winner by Disqualification: Jeff Hardy
MVP takes off his necklace that says MVP and holds it over Hardys face. The crowd in Atlanta is furious as MVP raises up the necklace for all to see. MVP gets out of the ring and raises his arms as hes going up the ramp.
The tension between Jeff Hardy and Montel Vontavious Porter has been mounting for weeks, and will finally explode at the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer.
Their dislike for one another began on "MVPs VIP Lounge" on the July 25 episode of SmackDown, where the Ballin Superstar described Hardys risk-taking behavior as wreckless and a detriment to both his friends and family.
The Legend Thriller, not taking kindly to MVPs harsh, personal criticisms, responded by tossing SmackDowns Franchise Playa from the VIP set. (WATCH)
One week later, Hardy positioned himself at ringside to watch MVP take on Jimmy Wang Yang. After the match, a furious Hardy again took out his anger on MVP with a Twist of Fate. (WATCH)
Then, at Saturday Night's Main Event, MVP retaliated by brutally kicking Hardy in the head, costing him his match against Edge. (WATCH)
For months, MVP has complained to SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero about wanting to renegotiate his contract, claiming that he was underutilized on Friday nights. Now that he has the limelight in a major pay-per-view encounter, will Porter shine and get the credit he has been craving?
As for Hardy, who has undergone many challenges this year from losing his home and dog in a fire, to undergoing a suspension, then moving to a new brand what kind of ring performance will the four-time Intercontinental and seven-time Tag Team Champion offer?
The time is right for both Superstars to earn a victory, but who wants it most?
To catch the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer, tune in to SummerSlam, Sunday, Aug. 17, only on pay-per-view.
Most Valuable Interference When Edge squared off against Jeff Hardy, there was a lot on the Rated-R Superstars mind, such as his rocky relationship with SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and his impending Hell in a Cell Match against a returning Undertaker at SummerSlam. And after his brutal attack on Mick Foley on SmackDown just 24 hours earlier, a reinvigorated Edge was ready to make a statement. Though there were several near falls throughout the match, neither Superstar could get a definitive upper-hand. But as Edge recuperated outside the ring from a missed spear, MVP emerged from the crowd and delivered a crushing kick to the head of Jeff Hardy. This was just the opening that the Ultimate Opportunist needed, as he rushed back into the ring and speared his opponent, gaining momentum for SummerSlam.
In perhaps one of Jeff Hardys most lopsided matches ever, the Legend Thriller was completely dominated by The Great Khali. Toward the end of the match, however, Hardy had a glimmer of hope when he was able to topple the Punjabi Giant with a Whisper in the Wind capped off with a Swanton Bomb. But just when things were looking good for Hardy, MVP approached the ring, forcing Hardy to divert his attention, kicking MVP back away from the ring and onto the floor. As Hardy and MVP tussled outside the ring, Khali forcibly ripped Hardy back into the ring by the head. Next, the 7-footer locked Hardy in his painful Khali Vise Grip, forcing the referee to call for the bell to stop the punishment. After the match, MVP came back into the ring to gloat over Hardys lifeless body.
The Great Khali w/ Ranjin Singh vs. Jeff Hardy
The bell rings and Jeff Hardy is looking serious about this match. He better hes in the ring with the #1 Contender. They stand toe to toe and Khali puts his hand over Jeffs head to show the height difference and then he pushes Jeff into the ropes. Jeff comes off the ropes and pushes him back! Jeff kicks Khali in the gut and delivers two right hands and goes into the ropes and goes to hit a jumping clothesline but Khali just stands there. Jeff Hardy comes off the ropes again and ducks a Khali clothesline and goes for a jumping clothesline but again Khali just stands there! Jeff comes off the ropes again and runs right into a big clothesline from Khali. Great
Khali picks Jeff up and smashes his head into the turnbuckle. Khali is stomping a mudhole on Jeff in the corner. Charles Robinson, who only a few short weeks ago was destroyed by Khali, makes him stop! Is Khali afraid of Charles Robinson?? Jeff Hardy is crawling on the ground and Khali picks him up and puts him in the corner and delivers some back elbows to his head. Jeff Hardy falls to his face and the referee checks on him. The match continues. Khali defiantly raises his arms in the air and picks Jeff up and tosses him into the corner. Khali goes back to the back elbow strategy. Jeff Hardy is out of the corner and Khali picks him up for a body slam, holds him impressively with one arm and then slams him hard to the canvas. Khali stalls and then does the exact same thing all over again then he defiantly raises his arms in the air again. I think thats definitely a finisher.
Khali picks Jeff Hardy up and head-butts him, causing Jeff to crumple to the corner. Khali delivers another back elbow to Hardy in the corner and then delivers a huge slap to Hardys chest. Hardy crumples. Khali picks Hardy up again and delivers a back elbow. Khali goes for another one but Jeff Hardy starts kicking Khali in the gut! Hardy is up to the second rope and Khali slaps him off to the outside of the ring!! Time for a break.
:::Commercial Break:::
Were back from the break and Khali is picking Jeff up and delivering a short arm clothesline. Khali has those arms up again! During the break we see that Khali had thrown Jeff hard into the stairs. Back to live action we see the cut on Jeff Hardys shoulder from the stair shot. Khali has the nerve hold locked in on Jeff Hardy (yes, the same one used by Umaga) and he has it locked in tight. The fans are willing Hardy on and its working as Hardy gets up to his feet and starts elbowing Khali in the stomach only to get clubbed down to his knees by the behemoth. The nerve hold is locked in again. To Jeffs credit he is making some great facial expressions and doing some good mannerisms while selling this boring move. Its also to the credit of the crowd who is red hot and chanting for Hardy.
Jeff is up to his feet and elbows and punches out the hold and goes to whip Khali but he whips him into the corner and Jeff runs up and hits Whisper in the Wind, taking the big man off his feet! The crowd in Hershey is wild!! Jeff Hardy is quickly up to the top rope and hits a Swanton Bomb and this crowd is insane!!! I love it!!!
All of a sudden Jeff Hardy runs up to the ropes and hits a swinging baseball slide on MVP! He then jumps over the top rope and delivers a Pescado! Jeff Hardy goes to pick up MVP but MVP shoots Jeff into the ring apron and theyre just duking it out. Inside the ring, Khali is up to his feet and grabs Jeff Hardy by the head and brings him up to the top rope where he hangs him and then clubs his chest, making Jeff Hardy do a back flip into the ring. MVP asks Khali what hes waiting for and Khali shouts for Jeff to get up. Khali measures Jeff Hardy up and locks in the Khali Vice Grip. Jeff Hardy tries to fight it but eventually the referee calls for the bell.
The wedding party is completely upset because of the shenanigans before the commercial break.
The bell rings and the two brothers shake hands and get ready for the match. They lock up and Jeff takes his brothers arm and wrenches it. Jeff gets him in a hammerlock and Matt reverses it and gets him in a headlock. They go into the ropes and Jeff gets out of the hold by whipping him but Matt hangs onto the arm, wrenches it and gets Jeff in a headlock. Jeff Hardy breaks the hold and wrenches Matts arm and he wrenches Jeffs arm, which flips him over and he kicks up to his feet and wrenches Matts arm again. He begins driving his shoulder into Matts and then locks in an arm lock. Matt pushes Jeff off into the ropes, Matt goes to his belly so Jeff jumps over and Matt hip tosses his brother. Matt does his hand signal and smiles. Jeff gets up, goes to lock up and Matt hits a school boy for a two count!
Matt goes for the Twist of Fate but Jeff counters into a Twist of Fate attempt of his own and Matt pushes him off into the turnbuckle, which Jeff promptly climbs and hits Whisper in the Wind on his brother! Jeff takes Matts legs out from under him, lifts Matts legs over his own head and does that leg drop compression pin for a two count! Theyre both up and Jeff comes off the ropes and knocks Matt down with a forearm to the face and comes off the ropes again and hits a spinning neckbreaker on Matt for a one count. Jeff goes to Irish whip Matt but its reversed and Matt goes to throw him out of the ring but Jeff Skins the cat and comes back into the ring where hes clotheslined out by Matt! Matt rolls out of the ring and puts Jeff back in and begins signaling for the Twist of Fate. Matt tries to go for the finisher but Jeff tries to get out and Matt wraps his legs around Jeff for a guillotine choke and Jeff drives Matt hard into the turnbuckle. Matt is down in the turnbuckle and Jeff does his slingshot dropkick for a two count! Jeff goes to hit Matt but Matt gets him in position for the Side Effect, Jeff elbows out and then hits the Side Effect on Matt!! Jeff is now going up the top rope for a Swanton Bomb but Matt rolls out of the way! Matt goes up to the top rope and hits a moonsault for a two count! Now La Familia comes in and puts the boots to them and the match is thrown out!
Both teams make their entrances, and the match is up next!

We come back and the match is already underway. Matt Hardy and Miz are trading blows back and forth in the ring, and Miz finds himself in a side headlock. The crowd is very strong behind the Hardys tonight. Miz tries to get out a couple of times but keeps finding himself in the same hold. Jeff gets the tag in and flies feet first into the ring. Miz manages a kick which allows Morrison to get the tag that is followed up with a swift uppercut. Jeff blocks a backdrop and plants his legs into Morrisons gut. The Hardy Boys hit that maneuver (credit Adamle). Matt locks Morrison up in a side headlock. Miz manages a distraction which allows Morrison to drive Matt into the corner but Matt dodges the splash only to be taken out by the freshly tagged Miz.
Miz locks in a headlock square in the middle of the ring, but gets blasted with a jawbreaker. Morrison gets in the tag and Matt is starting to look like a dazed dummy. Both Matt and Morrison end up face down on the mat and Jeff and Miz get the hot tags! Jeff seems to have the upper hand as the two go corner to corner. Jeff hits some nice quick moves and then leaps off of Matts back into the Miz. That move has a name if I could only put my finger on it. Apparently I am having a Tazz and Adamle night. I could look it up online, but that would be cheating. Jeff goes up to the top for the Swanton but Morrison pulls Miz out of the ring.

When we come back, Jeff is on his stomach and Morrison has a headlock applied. Jeff is fighting hard and the crowd is in his corner. Jeff hits a spinning kick, but Morrison gets the tag first, and Miz is able to contain Jeff from getting the tag to Matt. Miz drills his knee over and over into Jeffs back and then applies a headlock of his own. Jeff dodges a splash attempt but Morrison gets in before Jeff can get the tag and once again Jeff is contained. We see a nice backbreaker and Russian leg sweep by Morrison, but Jeff kicks out of the pin attempt. Jeff gets in a shot that drops Morrison, but Miz now gets the tag in before Jeff! Matt is getting really frustrated but the ref keeps him out of the ring. Miz puts Jeff in the tree of woe then pulls his neck back towards the ring post. Miz takes Jeff to the top rope and goes for a suplex of some sort, but Jeff pushes him off and hits the Whisper in the Wind!
Miz gets the tag to Morrison, and Matt Hardy gets the hot tag! Matt backdrops Morrison and goes for a pin attempt, but no ice cream. Matt takes out Morrison and proceeds to go after Morrison. John hits a nice roll through cover but no pin. Matt Hardy hits a powerbomb, but Miz saves the match for his team. Matt gives him a Side-Effect for his efforts. Morrison hits the Midnight Drive but before he can even cover Matt, Jeff hits the Swanton! Jeff throws Miz out of the ring and Matt gets the cover on Morrison!
In the latest Superstar to Superstar, Jeff Hardy talks to Lostprophets vocalist Ian Watkins and guitarist Mike Lewis. The bands single, Rooftops, was recently used in a video montage on SmackDown, highlighting Hardys high-flying moves. The Welsh rockers song is off their 2006 album, Liberation Transmission, available on Columbia Records.
Hardy: tell me about the song, Rooftops.
Ian Watkins:We wrote it years and years ago when we were on tour and we just never used it. It always had a good melody and a good vibe, but we never ended up using it for anything. On the last record, we worked with Bob Rock, who worked with Metallica and Motley Crue. We were messing around and said, Hey, weve got this song, what do you think? When we played it, he just loved it. Working with him, we just kind of messed around with it and it came out of an acoustic thing. When we play it live, its insane. During the chorus, everyone always screams their hearts out. Its really good live.
Hardy:Cool. Are you guys familiar with wrestling? Did you watch as kids?
Watkins: Yeah, but Mike did more than me. I didnt have cable I was too poor.
Lewis: I used to watch all the old WrestleManias with Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart. He was always my favorite.
hardy: Yeah, he was one of mine, too. So why is Rooftops a good fit for me and WWE
Watkins: Its one of those anthem songs. From what Ive seen, when we play it live, when we get everyone singing, its totally a crowd participation song. The chorus is really simple, so anyone can sing it. The song is kind of about releasing frustrations and all that rage inside just getting it out. Definitely with you, youre always jumping off of stuff. We were watching the montage and we were like s*** it looks amazing!
Hardy:Music plays a big role in WWE programming. What does your partnership with WWE mean to the band and why do you like working with WWE?
Lewis: Its cool because the kids who are into WWE are obviously very passionate about it. For them to get into our music its kind of a cool thing, too.
Watkins: A lot of people, especially in the United States, maybe wouldnt really know about us because were from the United Kingdom, were big in Europe and Japan, but not so much in the United States. So its cool to have our song in WWE. Like Mike said, all of the fans are so passionate, and were just as passionate about our music. Our songs are very pumped up. When youre passionate about something, its a really good fit.
Hardy: I hear the band is playing a bunch of music festivals in Europe and Japan this summer, tell me about your upcoming shows.
Watkins: Actually we just headlined our first festival for 80,000 people, which is insane. It was the Download Festival at Donington Park, which held Monsters of Rock. It was three days. KISS did Friday, Offspring did Saturday and we closed on the Sunday, which was insane. Its one of those things, like when you were a kid, you could never imagine doing. Obviously you fantasize about it, you jump around in your bedroom. Also, we used to watch it on TV. Weve watched Metallica headline it, weve watched AC/DC headline it, and all those bands. Then for us to do it, it didnt even seem real until halfway through the set.
Hardy: Right. Like me, for Hogan and Warrior to take part in WrestleMania, and now for me to take part in WrestleMania, its like, Woah, this is real. Its crazy how it happens.
Watkins: Its so bizarre. When youre playing with bands who were your heroes growing up, and you see them backstage and theyre saying hi to you, talking to you on the same level, and youre like, oh my god!
Hardy: Right on. I feel you, totally. Whats next for Lostprophets? When is your next album coming out and how different will the record be from Liberation Transmission?
Watkins: Were finishing up the record now with Rob again. I think itll be out in late January or early February of next year. Itll be much harder. When we first started we were a lot harder. Were still melodic, but with a metal edge. On the last record, we purposely put a lot of pop mentality into it. Whereas on this one, we kept the tunefulness and the anthemic hooks, but we kind of put the metal back, as well.
Hardy: Cool. Do you have any messages for the WWE fans who heard Rooftops on SmackDown and became fans of Lostprophets?
Watkins: Thanks for taking the time to listen to us and go out and research it and check us out on the Internet. We dont really care if people download our music for free. All that matters to us is that people are listening to it and kind of support it some way. If you cant afford to buy an album, then yeah, download it for free. Or come to our shows and buy a T-shirt. Spread the word to your friends. As long as people support us in some way, thats what matters to us. Fans of yours can watch your stuff and listen to the song and say, All right, I like that, and then go check it out.
Flying onto SmackDown The 2008 WWE Draft brought big changes to SmackDown, including Hall of Famer Jim Ross arrival on the blue brand and long-time announcer Michael Cole saying his final goodbye to fans as he heads to Raw. Making his SmackDown debut, after being drafted from Raw, was Jeff Hardy, who fought WWE Tag Team Champion John Morrison in a valiant back-and-forth battle. After avoiding a Moonlight Drive from the Shaman of Sexy, the Legend Thriller delivered a facebuster-powerbomb, followed up by a Swanton Bomb and the pinfall.
Jeff Hardy is on the cover of the latest issue of WWE Magazine (August 2008 issue) and they're teasing a possible title run. Like a spy, he's hanging by a rope from the ceiling over the WWE Title enclosed in glass. The headline reads "Black Ops Exclusive! Mission: Possible - Jeff Hardy's Covert Strike To Seize Gold...Exposed!". You can see a larger view of the cover at our Jeff Hardy gallery. The magazine also features an apparently controversial interview with Randy Orton that they "almost didn't print."
The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online is reporting that the original plan for the Night of Champions PPV this Sunday was to have Jeff Hardy be Chris Jericho's mystery opponent for the WWE Intercontinental Title. It's possible they may have changed these plans since the draft.
