Dear Jeroom
We are so happy to learn about your pilgrimage from Bree to Nidaros. It is very interesting for us, and will show to other pilgrims that this is an option.
We have much detailed info on different stretches and will provide them for you in due time.
What will be your preferred route? Probably you will pass Hamburg that we regard as the gateway to the northern routes. In the St. James church there you will find a pilgrim priest Bernd Lohse that knows a lot about the Nidaros ways and the St. Olavs tradition.
- From Hamburg you can choose going up through Jutland to Fredrikshavn in Denmark, and from there take the ferry to Gothenburg and walk to Oslo and Trondheim, or to Oslo and walk to Trondheim.
- From Hamburg you can also choose to walk east to Rostock, take the ferry to Trelleborg and continue to Lund were you can meet pilgrim priest Anna Alebo. They are working hard to facilitate routes going north to Vadstena, the wonderful shrine of St. Birgitta. From Vadstena you can walk to Trondheim. This option is less developed regarding accommodation.
Let me know more about how you are planning and I can provide more details.
Kind regards
Eiler
