It sounds to me like the MI6 agents did somethings wich made the people think that they were responsible for torturing people to get intelligence. I've seen a lot of 007 movies and I can tell you, Bond NEVER tortured any of the bad guys, not even the boss-bad guys. But ofcourse, this is the real world and maybe a real “Bond...James Bond” doesn't exist here so I guess the people could be right if that's what they think is happening in this cruel world. This speech isn't very strong I think because Sir John Sawyer just blames other agencies from other countries that are, as he says, less “friendly democraties”. I think Britains “superiority” plays a part in this issue because they're acting like they would never harm certain people to get important information and I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but I think people of MI6 are trained to feel no empathy when they torture another human being and I wouldn't be surprised if they learned many different ways in doing so. If millions of people could be saved with just information from 1 man who doesn't wish to coöperate for example, I think torture COULD help but it should only be used if there really is no other way.

    Thank you Cool

LimeWire shut down by federal court!

“This is good news” That was my first impression about the article.Although I think that it is a bit too late ,the whole music industry  suffered.

Other (bigger)sharing websites just keep on going ;websites such as Pirate bay for example.A pitty for the artist if you ask me.

I hope that in the future they will be even stricter. The government  should be more concerned with illegal downloaders.

I always buy the REAL CD's or films Because I support my artist,It is important to do that otherwise they won't or even can't

continue.Let's be honest, a real cd cover wit a REAL album art, is way better than a mp3 file which can contain a virus or spyware.

I know that there are a lot of people who are against the closure of limewire, and maybe I'm grumbling, but I play the guitar myself, I really enjoy it to

make music but I know how hard is it to make a “song” which is of course noting in compare with the big musicians. And the same for films.

I hope that some people follow me in this vision. My conclusion: we are on the right track ;-) but there are still lots of things that we have to change.

I’m very shocked, not that he blew himself up because that’s what terrorists do, but that the CIA was so careless.

They made so much mistakes: nobody knew who was in charge of the ‘meeting’ with Balawi and most importantly, the critical warnings about him weren’t shared with other officials. Ofcourse I don’t say it’s the CIA’s fault, but they could’ve done something. They even ignored suspicions from Jordan, what I find is un acceptable. If they say it’s dangerous, don’t just ignore it. I’m not saying you have to tie him u like a murderer (what he actually was…) but at least keep an eye out. In an interview released after his death he threatend to kidnap his contact. How can you not see that there is something wrong with him? I just can’t believe it…

Now there are 7 agents dead, and 6 wounded. And you would ask, why would there be 13 agents or more with him in a small room? Well, because the CIA was eager to see him, because they had to wait for 10 days for him to arrive...

I do feel bad for the agents who died, but I think it’s strange that an agency who has been around for so long can still let things happen like this…

On 10 October was a woman in China taken by the family planning officials to a hospital to let her have an abortion, "voluntary" they say. Because she was 8 months pregnant and she and her husband already have a nine-year old daughter. But the husband clearly says that it wasn't voluntary. It was against her will ! Because China has limited most urban couples to one child, to limit the population growth.
I think that this i really sick! To let someone have an abortion involuntary. I think that you should be able to choose for yourself how many children you want and that nobody can forbid you to have as many children as you like. It is in the end your body, and you decide for yourself what is going to happen with it!
In the beginning victims were scared to talk about such crimes that happened, but now more and more victims begin to speak out. The husband of this woman did it also. Because no one wanted to listen to him, not the police and even the media wouldn't listen. So he placed a blog on the internet, to show and let people know what was happening. I think that it was very brave of him to post that blog. When you know that China is a very strict country.

It seems that there is a biggest lottery winner ever in the UK
More than 113 millions pounds were given to an anynomous (individual).

First of all I  think it is rather ridiculous to give such an amount to one individual person.
It is just too much, isn't it?The best thing would be that he or she would share it with the world.I mean sharing with the poorests people.
However I have not won Euro Millions, so I don't have a right to speak;).Maybe I'll share the money, maybe I'll keep everything for myself...It depends on the situation.

Everyone has ever dreamt of being very, very rich. And If I had that chance,I would not spend all my money on a huge party, or by buying expensive cars,.No, in the first place I would save it.I would save it on bankaccounts, under my pilow or even in a pit in my garden.
Having a few millions on your bankaccount is always useful I suppose.

There are a lot of people who are addicted to gambling(=gamblers). This is sad.It can be a lifetime experience to participate in a casino in Las Vegas. But no habit.Again there is a moral in this whole story,-Don't be greedy with money-and know your limits!
But the day when I'm 18 , I'll buy 20 win for life scratchcards :)
hopefully the luck is with me.

8% seems to be a lot and it surprises me that this can happen because of the economy that was crashing down, I expected that the crime rate would rise instead of fall because of all those people who lost their jobs and losing a lot of money wich would lead to stress and eventually into a form of violence. The failure of the economy could also be the reason why the crime rate did fell instead of rise if the cause is that people needed to work harder and had less time to do things like robbery, burglary, theft, fraud, drugs, vehicle crime and criminal damage as they say in the article. The only thing that rose instead of fell is sexual offences but it could also be because of the improved recording methods but I choose not to believe that.

I honestly think it's a big coincidence that all these crime actions dropped by 8%. How can there be a reason for people to just stop doing actions like robbing people because they need money ? It's not like the government made some new horrifying punishing methods like cutting peoples hands off when they rob someone. Although this is an old trick to punish robbers, it might just help to make sure that no one would ever rob someone again...

Ofcourse, it could also be caused by the police in England and Wales that are doing a great job dealing with justice every day.

The article is about a mother, Aly. She is overweight and has been struggling with this problem since she was 16 years old. People teased her and so she began to eat more and more. Aly was terrified that her daughter Corleigh would continue the cycle so she put her on a diet when she was just 2 years old. The girl, who is now 8 years old is still only allowed to eat 700 calories a day, 1,000 less than the recommended amount for her age. On a typical day she has Weetabix for breakfast, salad and half a roll for lunch and a jacket potato for dinner.
A nurse expressed concerns that Corleigh was 5lb underweight and in danger of developing an eating disorder.
But Aly says: "She's not so underweight she's going to die next week. With an eating disorder you can get through it with therapy. But when you're fat, you're fat for life. Obviously I'd prefer it if she didn't get either."

I personally think it's really not healthy for a girl so young to put her on a diet. The girl is not fully developed and the few calories may influence her development. It is not because her mother is overweight, that her daughter may not eat more than 700 calories.
I think the underweight of the young girl could have dramatic consequences. Being so focused by eating not more than 700 calories a day, could be obsessed her by it and she maybe even could get anorexia.
It is also very important for the development of Corleigh that she gets medical help or that her mother just let her eat healthy food without counting the calories. I hope the mother quickly realize that this is really not healthy for her young child and that there are plenty of ways to feed your child healthy without being overweight. But putting a young girl on a diet for more than 6 years is really not healthy!

Shooting people is always horrible, but shooting people because of their beliefs or their origin, is double horrible. The worst thing about this article is that the man seems to be doing it on an organised and regular basis. He must be thinking he's the freedom fighter of white people, while he is just a shooting savage. The ethnic minorities must be frightened to death at the moment. I hope for these people, the savage gets caught sooner or later, and gets put behind bars. But Sweden is the most awesome country after England, so they'll manage to get him quickly, I hope!

You would think that in the UK,there is no poverty. But that is a wrong thought! It's not just because the UK is so popular and that England one of the high fashion cities is that there is no poverty.
A big issue is child poverty. The London University's  Institute of Education researchers found that almost 1/5 of seven-year-olds live in severe poverty. That is something you would not expect from such a country!
I think that the government should spend more money on the children in the future. Because eventually these kids will be the future of England. So it's very important that these kids also graduate from school and find a good job. So that they can take care of their family later.

I think that each child has the right to live a normal life even if that's on the costs of us. If that means that our taxes have to rise I don't mind. As long as it helps!

This article just made my day. After coming home from a boring day, reading that parents feared their 67cm tall son would acually grow just made me burst into laughter. I've always been a fan of  freakshow world records; and Guinnes book of World Records has plenty. because the chilld/man/thing lives in Nepal, the organisation of the crowning reeked of failure, but eventually they discovered when his birthday actually was and got to him on the right day, giving him the title and the gateway to getting infinitely rich off of his handicap. over the last years, there have been quite some tiny people actually: I remember watching 'Koppen' about the shortest person alive (who was a bit taller than 70cm) just over a year ago. Although it is unfortunate there's something wrong in the 'new guy's' head. As a famous person once said: 'There's not much Force in this padawan.'
I really amused me with this article and I hope the other people reading this will do so aswell.

First of all, i’m happy for the miners. I followed as much of the rescue as i could, but i think all of these presents are a bit too much…

I know they went through a hard time, but what will happen if the media turns their back on them? Now everybody is talking about the miners and they get so much presents, they get a holiday to the Greek islands and some shirts from football teams and an Ipod for each miner. I don’t think it’s the right thing to give them presents. They can better spent their money on people who really need it, like the victims of the mud in hungary. There are a lot of people in the hospital with burns, they need the money for medication and help.

Maybe this sounds harsh, but the miners got out, they can start living again. But when the presents and media attention is over, how will they feel? They sat in a cave for 70 days, now the media helps them a lot. But when that stops, I think they’re going to start feeling traumatized...

Acropolis shut down in Greek protests

Protesting workers barricaded the doors of the Acropolis so no tourists could enter the beautiful ancient site because they were protesting. The reason of these protests are the cuts in workers' salaries en trimming the pension so Greece could be able to pay its debts. Because the protesters blocked the ancient site many tourists couldn't enter and many of them were ofcourse slightly unhappy by this event. Ofcourse these actions caused a lot of trouble when Athens riot police tried to control the situation by using teargas on those poor protesting workers. Visitors from many different places of the world couldn't do anything useful except taking pictures of the riots wich some of them actually did. These kind of protests have happened before but usually lasted a few hours.

I think these kind of actions are pretty useless. They only make tourists from all over the world hate Athens because the people can't even go on vacation to Greece without coming across protesters who think there salaries will improve by doing things like this. It only causes more financial troubles.

So,Finally the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped for almost 70 days , are rescued!

It must be absolutely awesome to see your wife and kids back after a long time in a dark and dirty mine.

Offcourse the world was watching this disaster. They have filmed the whole rescue operation.

And as you can see, mining is not the most safety job,Certainley not in chili I suppose...

Faith was their hope, (as the miners themselves said) and God had helped them.Quiet remarkable that if there's a really bad situation, people always need something to rely on , which is Faith.

I'm wondering if these people don't have any mental problems,It must be shokking to leave the world for 3 months. Isn't it?

but I'm afraid that after they have been to the hospital they'll come back to the mines, and will keep on working there. Not so fair if you ask me.

just realize how good we have here...

I find it very bad news. This time it’s about a woman who abused boys. Most of the time its men who came in the news about abusing underage children . There is often much fuss about paedophilia, but now when a woman abused children they just pretend like it is nothing. She just only gets a bail on condition that she does not contact the victims. I find that a really mild punishment for her crimes and I think if a man would have done that he would immediately be imprisoned. The article also says that the teacher, Patel, worked in other schools, so maybe there are also victims and they are maybe just afraid to tell someone about it. But I hope the woman gets a heavier penalty, and that she doesn’t made other victims in her previous school. The article talks also only about suspension and not about dismiss. I think that is very strange. If this woman will ever works again as a teacher, then the school will be losing many pupils who are going to that school because which parent want to send their children to a school where there works a teacher that has abused boys ? I suppose nobody wants that . I also hope that there will be aid for the victims because this crime has a bad influence on their
     self-confidence.

I think that this is really unbelievable! How can be someone so cruel and without feelings for another person?! Just because you're guy the wold begins to see you with different eyes. They treat you like something not normal. That's why I think when you're young you should really watch out when you choose your friends and roommates. You never know somebody for 100%. They always hide a part of their personality. And at times like this, they don't hesitate to stab you in your back! I think that the roommate has a very low personality. By posting that tape he proved it! I hope that he never will forget what he did and that every morning when he wakes up he thinks about it. About how he killed someone (wanted or unwanted) . After all he is responsible for the death of that student. And now the family of the student has to live without him.

Imagine what you can do with that? I wouldn’t spent any money on ancient stuff. Maybe the telephoner is trying to sell it again for some more money.. which i highly doubt but if he or she succeeds in re-selling he would be even richer! And i do feel sorry for the Tullie House museum who tried everything to buy it, they kept on bidding untill £ 1.7 million even when the estimated price was around £ 300.000. What I would’ve done was give the helmet to the museum, maybe you don’t get that much money, but I think a beautifull archaeological piece like that belongs in a museum. But the finder found a flaw in the law of archaeological finds, and send it straight to the auction. What I think is sad to see...  But still, the guy who found this is a happy man at the expense of the museum...

So the sludge reached the branch of the Danube, after killing 4 people and injuring 140 other people, and killing a mass of wildlife and destroying 3 to 4 completely. i myself am quite shocked by this disaster, more than I was with the BP spill, because this is some gruesome stuff the just flooded 4 villages. In another article I read a man saying that the sludge burnt his father 'to the bone'. These villages will be inhabitable for a really long time, not only because the houses have to be rebuilt and the sludge has to be removed, but also because you can't grow as much as a carrot for 5 to 10 years because the sludge damaged the soil pretty badly. Greenpeace even said it's on of the three biggest disasters in Europe for 20 or 30 years...
And now even the prime minister gives up on the people whose houses were destroyed, which is the dirtiest thing he could ever do. How could you, after your your country is in one of the biggest ecological disasters of the last 30 years, which is affecting the rest of Europe aswell, give up on people who were so unlucky to have their house destroyed by a random metal factory? This really baffles my mind.

One in four students binge drinks : study

I've found this article on the web.
The article is about excessive alcohol usage.

Old people (and my mom) are probably very shocked by the fact that one in four students in the United States binge drinks. This is quite remarkable because in Belgium there were also a lot of studies about this subject, and conclusions were quite the same. We all know by now, that alcohol usage is really bad and you'll probably die very soon. But I think that they really exaggerate.
I'm not alcoholic, but if you're young it's not so uncommon to enjoy yourself with a couple of beers...
On the other hand I understand that it's very stupid to get wasted, get in your car and kill every innocent child on the street, while you are puking out of your car-window. Having a good time is important, trying new things is always fun ;) but don't lose your mind!

This afternoon I was doing some research on YouTube and I've found the best example of what's really, really, really... Wrong. And believe me, she is not drinking water.
    Check this!
So what we have learned today is :
drinking is fun! But face the consequences.

    best regardes Jens

This article is very touching! First of all I'm very sorry for the two boys and the father that are left behind. The two boys will just know their mother as a memory. That's really sad. But you can't choose your life yourself. That's something that even I know. On the other hand I think the father has a really strong character. To deal with your wife's death because of cancer is not easy especially not when you have two younger children. And the worst part of all is that the husband knew that his wife was going to die. So he and his wife stayed many nights up until late and talked about many things and also about the "to do list" for the two boys. The mother wanted her boys to grow up normally, when she was gone. So she decided together with her husband to make that list for the sake of her children. Now each time when they complete something from the list they think about their mother.
Loosing someone is never easy but you must go on with your life and cherish
