It looks like the Belgian release of the 'Viva Elvis' cd will be supported by a large promo campain. The biggest National TV and Radiostations will air promos, presentations and contests around this release. It is remarkable that Sony is using two different covers in their communication. On the right, there is the well known cover, on the left a cover that Sony is using since today. We do hope they don't make the mistake by using this cover. With the 'Love Me Tender' title and the small Viva Elvis logo, it looks just another compilation. The release date is still Nov 8. Sony now also printed all samples and sounds that are used in the remixed songs.

A book with the title Elvis Meets Nixon: A Brief Look At The Oddly True Account Of Elvis Presley´s Visit To The While House was released on October 10, 2010 (isbn 1610422171). The book is written Dylan Stance. This is what the publisher writes about it:

Op zaterdag 16 en zondag 17 oktober 2010, wordt alweer voor de 23ste keer in Autotron Rosmalen het nostalgische beleef-het-mee-evenement Rock Around The Jukebox gehouden. Sinds 1988 organiseert "De Jukebox Fanaat" de beurzen "Rock around the Jukebox" De formule van een ongeëvenaard aanbod van jukeboxen, memorabele spulletjes uit de jaren vijftig, zestig en zeventig en een dijk van een muziekprogramma blijkt na al de jaren nog altijd als een huis te staan. Dit blijkt uit de steeds terugkerende duizenden gezellige bezoekers en de zeer tevreden standhouders. Natuurlijk is uw fan club erbij!
The Dutch Viva CD will close with a "Love Me Tender" duet by Elvis and Lisa Loïs, winner of the tv show the X Factor. Lisa Lois is probably best known for her cover of Leonard Cohens "Halleluja", the biggest number one in the history of talent shows in Holland.
Leuk nieuws voor iedereen die niet naar de Elvis week in Memphis kan. In het duitse Bad Nauheim, staat Elvis van 13 tot 16 augustus helemaal centraal. Met ondermeer een optreden van Steve Pitman (USA) en dan de klapper: op 14 augustus 2010 vindt er de Europese première plaats van "Elvis on Tour" op groot scherm. (Concertzaal - Trinkkuranlage). Tickets kosten 9 Euro. Nog geen vakantieplannen? Op naar Duitsland dus!
This CD ended up in my mailbox a couple of weeks ago, at the same time as the Our Memories CD. The disc contains the famous February 15, 1973 D.S.
Design
The foldout case has merely pictures from the January/ February engagement. There an excerpt of a personal review of the show and an explanation about ambiance recordings. All together the whole ended up as a nice package.
Content
The so called ambience recording makes this an above average audience recording, but it is certainly not the best around. Of course the sound is pretty important, since some audience recordings are hardly listenable, you cant even recognize Elvis at all. That is not the case on this particular show. You can hear it is Elvis when present. That last remark defines the pleasure of an Elvis CD to me he MUST be present. Unfortunately Elvis was ill this night, sang some weak versions (understandable, but still), went of the stage, the Stamps took over, before Elvis returned. No need to say this show is not among my favourites. Okay, Faded Love live is pretty rare, but sitting through the Stamps for five songs before hearing it, is not my piece of cake. Elvis recited Oh how I wish I was in the doctors office and he should have done just that, instead of going on stage.
Conclusion
This CD is for historical reasons a nice addition to the collection, but for me it will be just another shelf-filler.

Wij kunnen u inmiddels meer details geven over het boek dat wij u afgelopen week al via onze website aankondigden. Zo ziet u op de bovenstaande foto's de voor- en achterkant van de volgende FTD uitgave in boekvorm "King Creole". Ernst Jørgensen heeft voor dit project hulp gehad van de fanclubvoorzitter uit Noorwegen, Pål Granlund, die hiervoor foto's uit zijn privé collectie afstond. Het betreft een 208 pagina tellend boek, met ca. 200 foto's van de recording sessions en afbeeldingen van Elvis gedurende de vertolking van de nummers in de film King Creole. Het overgrote merendeel van de foto's is nog nooit eerder gepubliceerd. Het boek is hardcover en van hetzelfde formaat als de FTD boeken, "Flashback" en "That's The Way It Is".
