While the individual may be different, what's the same is the support, the belief in you and in your ability to succeed, no matter how great the challenge. Wow! Think about that: what an amazing circle of light surrounds you at any given moment! As a solo entrepreneur, one of the things I most look forward to each week is my accountability call with two of my mastermind sisters, each of whom are entrepreneurs in their own right. Every Monday we share what's going well in our businesses, what's not, what our plans and strategies are, and the steps we're putting into play to make them happen. A while back we were asked if we wanted to be a part of a new church plant and it has been a rewarding experience and a hard one. There are some things that have come up that we have learned in the process. We just wanted to write an article to share them with you. Some of the things we needed to know could have helped us ahead of time when our pastor first asked us to be a part of planting a new church. One was how much time it takes. We get up at 6:00 AM and get out at about 1:00. We have leadership meetings and personalities differ so we have to remind ourselves of why we are doing this. It is to love on the community like Jesus did and bring people to Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit. It is not to boost our ego or feel better than anyone. When a bunch of broken people come together, you need a lot of prayer in the process and every person is broken to an extent. Even with the healthiest people there will be power struggles. This we did not even consider. Another thing to know is boundaries. When to say no. We have been pretty good at it. We have watched our friends burn out serving and this is when attitudes can come across sharp or mean spirited. We are human and do not want people to feel this vibe, especially in a church, so another tip is to stay in-tune with emotions. Be careful of clicks too. It's easy to blame the past because the past cannot be changed. It's easy to blame others because we don't have to blame ourselves or be accountable for decisions that we make. Sometimes we just can't seem to get past our childhood experiences. We focus on the negative feelings and emotions that we've experienced and we get stuck there. It seems that the child within us does not want to grow up. The child within us loves to throw tantrums. It screams for attention and wants others to take care of us for the rest of our lives. We didn't have certain things in our young lives so we rant and rave about the lack of this or that. As a dating coach for men, I talk a lot about how to build attraction - which is essentially how to flirt with someone effectively -, but this article is focused on how to flirt with words. There are obviously many levels of flirting, but any effective flirtation is accomplished using the following four techniques: 1. Charm: This is a quality possessed by those who listen well and lead conversation in positive directions. Being a good listener doesn't mean letting someone drone on endlessly about their horrible workday and other boring aspects of life. Rather, a good listener will open up conversational threads that are funny and exciting, and then sit back and listen to the other person's reaction. To be charming is to know how to drive the direction of a conversation where you want it to go without doing all of the talking. 2. Sarcasm: Being sarcastic in a positive way requires a certain degree of restraint: It's not great to be categorized as an outrageously sarcastic person, but using sarcasm in the right amount can be extremely effective. Sarcasm is flirtatious because it shows the person that you're comfortable enough with them to tease them while showing that you're witty and quick. 3. Mysteriousness: Being mysterious and evasive about "standard" questions is the easiest way to flirt with someone early on in an interaction. We have a tendency to always want to give away every part of ourselves to prove that we're worthy of someone wanting to know us. The hard cold truth, though, is that people generally don't care about you within the first few minutes of meeting you.
