    News And Video From Impact

There are several major news items to report from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” broadcast on SpikeTV as TNA prepares for the upcoming “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View on Sunday, February 10…

    - New matches have been added to the Pay-Per-View, including Barbed Wire Massacre 2 with Abyss vs. Judas Mesias, plus AJ Styles and Tomko defending the TNA World Tag Team Championship against BG James and his father “Bullet” Bob Armstrong.

    - TNA Management Director Jim Cornette offered Samoa Joe the opportunity to be the special enforcer for the World Title match at Against All Odds, as well as a chance to compete for the gold at Destination X. In turn, Joe also demanded a new TNA contract that will pay him more than Kurt Angle! Cornette finally agreed with the contract signing taking place on this Thursday’s “iMPACT!”.

    - In the main event on the broadcast, TNA World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Tomko retained the gold in a three-way bout against Team 3D and the Motor City Machineguns, despite AJ Styles leaving Tomko during the bout to tend to Karen Angle.

    - The broadcast also saw Cornette’s giant backup Matt Morgan get into a fight with Kevin Nash after Morgan insulted the multi-time World Champion.

    - In addition, the broadcast featured footage of Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and UFC President Dana White discussing Lesnar’s upcoming UFC Pay-Per-View bout.

    - Kurt Angle wanted a sitdown talk with Tomko, but it resulted in a brawl between the two superstars after Angle insulted Tomko’s wife. The World Champion challenged Tomko to face him next Thursday on “iMPACT!”.

    - Booker T won the Memorable Moment of the Year award, but was interrupted by Robert Roode during his acceptance. Roode blamed Booker for his wife Sharmell getting injured at Final Resolution by putting her in harm’s way.

    - Gail Kim won the Knockout of the Year award, and was on hand to accept it despite still suffering from a concussion at the hands of Awesome Kong. However, Kong spoiled the award presentation and ending up attacking Gail again. Before Kong could hit her powerslam on Gail, the ODB hit the ring to chase off her Against All Odds opponent.

    - “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal won X Division Superstar of the Year, but later lost his X Division Championship to Johnny Devine thanks to interference from Team 3D. Johnny Devine is now the new TNA X Division Champion.

    - New Japan superstars Tiger Mask and Curry Man appeared on the broadcast, beating Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave with Christy Hemme, aka The Rock N’ Rave Infection, in tag team action.

Shelton Benjamin def. Kane, Tommy Dreamer, The Miz  & John Morrison (Over-the-Top Rope Challenge)
Kelly Kelly def. Layla and Lena Yada (Best Body Contest)
    Kofi Kingston def. local
The Great Khali def. Colin Delaney
Chavo Guerrero def. CM Punk (No DQ; new champion)

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – With all eyes on new ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero, Shelton Benjamin could be targeting Guerrero’s newly-won gold. Benjamin proved once again there ain’t no stopping him, as he was victorious in an Over-the-Top Rope Challenge on ECW, edging out fellow Royal Rumble participants. The “Gold Standard” showed his athleticism on Tuesday night, and his winning streak could continue into the 30-man game of endurance Sunday at the Rumble. Is it Benjamin’s time? Can he win the Rumble match?

Also on Tuesday, Kofi Kingston made his ECW debut. The Jamaican Superstar was victorious over a local contender, and looked ready to take care of any trouble that may arise in the Extreme paradise called ECW. (WATCH)

Speaking of paradise … Kelly Kelly, Layla and Lena Yada competed in a Best Body Contest on Tuesday night, and the Divas looked even more perfect in HDTV. Our fans declared Kelly Kelly the winner through their cheers, but Layla and Lena weren’t pleased. Layla knocked Kelly Kelly face-first to the mat, with Lena by her side.

In other action, an injured and bandaged Colin Delaney returned to ECW for a fifth time, facing another one of sports-entertainment’s giants, The Great Khali. Delaney, who stood frozen in fear at the sight of Khali, was demolished after a vicious Vise Grip. Will the persistent Delaney have the guts to return to ECW again?

Finally, Chavo Guerrero defeated CM Punk for the ECW Championship on Tuesday, following a huge assist from Edge. The World Heavyweight Champion speared Punk before Chavo got the pin in the No Disqualification Match, as SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero looked on with delight. (WATCH) Read more…

    Lashley weg bij wwe ?

Report: Bobby Lashley Gone From WWE?

According to Bobby Lashley’s official website www.BobbyLashleyOnline.com, the former ECW Champion has parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Lashley wrote the following in a forum post:

I am sorry to everyone here but I am serious when I say I won't be back. Everyone wants to come here and hear the real story and I am telling you the real story. Circumstances which are out of my control left me no decision but to leave the WWE. I can't go into details of this now but like I said before sometimes people will hate you personally and try to destroy you which has happened here. Evil has prevailed however like I said before if you continue your struggle doors will open around these people. You have not scene the last of me so please don't stop your support. Add Bobby Lashley to the list of RECENTLY RELEASED!

    Lashley naar tna?

Lashley would not comment on whether or not he would be interested in going to TNA Wrestling. He said that WWE has granted his release but it would not be announced until the paperwork was finalized.

Details on why Lashley wants to leave WWE

The latest on the Bobby Lashley situation is that he has definitely informed WWE that he wants to leave the company. There are a lot of reasons for him wanting to do so. The word we have gotten is that part of it has to do with how his girlfriend Kristal Marshall was treated by the company when she balked at being paired with Edge and doing the Lita gimmick, and was then quickly released. Let's just say that there is a line of thought that at least part of why she didn't want to do the angle was fear of a racial element being added to the storyline by the Smackdown creative staff.

There also appears to be other issues behind the scenes where Lashley reportedly feels like he hasn't been treated well himself while he has been out rehabbing. There is said to have been little communication between Lashley and Vince McMahon and no firm plans in place to get him back on TV now that his injury has healed and this was frustrating to him.

At this point, Lashley needs to negotiate an official release from WWE as he is still under contract (and thus is still listed on the company website). As always in this business, things can change at the drop of a hat but for now, his plan is to move on from WWE and then plan the next phase of his life.

What You Didn't See On This Week's WWE RAW
Klik op de afbeelding om de link te volgen

Thanks to Kevin Dowlen who attended last night's WWE Monday Night Raw in Hampton for sending this in:

After the show went off the air, Jeff Hardy started walking up the entrance ramp taunting Orton, and Umaga came out and beat him into the ring. Orton and Umaga were double-teaming Hardy until Jericho came down and made the save. Hardy ended up Swantoning Orton in the ring as Jericho was fighting Umaga outside the ring. Jericho and Hardy hugged and posed in the ring for a while. Jericho even got Hardy to teach him that weird dance he does when he comes out from behind the curtain; they both did that for a while in the ring as Hardy’s music played. Hardy and Jericho both shook hands with fans at ring-side well after the show was over, and Jericho was there signing autographs, shaking hands, and taking pictures for a good twenty minutes after Raw ended. Seems like a class act.

As for the Heat tapings, Vladimir Koslov killed some local jobber from Hampton. Hacksaw Jim Duggan squashed another presumably local guy. The last match was Charlie Haas vs. Super Crazy. Haas went under the ring during the match and put a mask on for no good reason. And he and Crazy kept pulling it off and putting it back on as the match went along. Haas ended up winning by submission. Terrible matches all around.

The crowd itself was very live.

    Shawn Michaels def. Mr. Kennedy
Women's Champion Beth Phoenix def. Mickie James
Finlay & Hornswoggle def. The Highlanders
    Umaga def. Brian Kendrick
    Carlito def. Hardcore Holly
Triple H def. Snitsky, Mark Henry and William Regal (Over-the-Top Rope Gauntlet Match)

HAMPTON, Va. – The road to redemption was a rocky one for Triple H on Monday night. The 11-time World Champion needed to overcome three daunting roadblocks before he could reclaim a spot at this Sunday’s Royal Rumble Match.

After displaying a menacing unpredictability last week, Mr. McMahon offered his rival a second – and final – chance to qualify for this Sunday’s Royal Rumble. The Chairman, however, gave no indication of who The Game might face or what type of match he would be competing in.

He found out soon enough. Raw General Manager William Regal told him he’d arranged an Over-The-Top Rope Gauntlet Match, requiring The Game to throw three opponents over the top rope, Royal Rumble-style.

The first barrier in The Game’s path to the Rumble was the yellow-toothed ogre, Snitsky. The yuck-mouthed monster was determined to avenge himself from last week, when Triple H repeatedly struck him with his sledgehammer. But Triple H’s resolve proved too steely to overcome, and Snitsky found himself hurled from the ring.

Next up, Regal introduced another massive obstacle, SmackDown’s Mark Henry. The World’s Strongest Man assaulted his opponent with a series of thunderous blows. But a beaten down Cerebral Assassin pulled down the top rope and tricked Henry into propelling himself out of the ring.

Two down, one to go. The final opponent in the match was … Regal himself. The Raw GM, who cost Triple H his Rumble spot to begin with, had suffered greatly at his hands two weeks ago in a First Blood Match. Monday night, the vengeful GM nearly toppled his opponent over the top rope before The Game managed to reverse course and send Regal out of the ring.

The Game’s “three strikes, you’re in” comeback ensures him a spot at Royal Rumble and a possible look ahead at the main event at WrestleMania XXIV and a 12th World Championship.

    Green Bay Decay
First, his beloved Green Bay Packers lost their NFL Championship game on Sunday, then the following night, Mr. Kennedy dropped his match to Shawn Michaels. The Showstopper now takes both the momentum and the bragging rights from Monday night’s match with him into this Sunday’s Royal Rumble. Video | Photos

    Broken Promise
Mickie James came out fired up this week, but ended up in a smoldering funk. She had vowed to pin Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix – a foe she’s never defeated – but she came up frustratingly short when The Glamazon’s size and strength advantage once again proved insurmountable. Video | Photos

    Blueprint for Victory?
Hornswoggle may have been given short odds for winning the Royal Rumble this Sunday, but he and Finlay proved just how the two could pull off the most unlikely of victories. The pair cooperated together against The Highlanders and managed to toss both of the Cousins McAllister over the top rope.

    Wall of Words
Chris Jericho returned to Raw this week after getting dragged across the floor by JBL with an electrical cord around his neck two weeks ago. Y2J lambasted the Lonestar Loudmouth for trying to scare his children and insisted he would not relent until he took out his rival.

    Royal Letdown
The excitement Brian Kendrick felt at earning a chance to qualify for the Royal Rumble quickly turned to dread when he learned that he would have to face Umaga. Despite a valiant effort, the high-flyer just couldn’t soar above the challenge of the Samoan Bulldozer.

    Trading Places … Again
Two weeks after their Trading Places Match, in which Hardcore Holly prevailed, Carlito and one-half of the current World Tag Team Champions once again faced off. Only this time, Carlito managed to overcome the powerful onslaught of Holly for the win.

    Shake, Rattle and Roll
At the insistence of Mr. McMahon, WWE Champion Randy Orton and Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy met in the squared circle to shake hands one week after the “Rainbow-haired Warrior” dropped a devastating Swanton Bomb onto Orton from 30 feet. Instead, Hardy shook the hands of nearly everyone in the arena except Orton. To cap things off, Hardy hit his nemesis with a Twist of Fate and left him rattled on the floor. Michelle McCool def. Layla
Rey Mysterio & ECW Champion CM Punk def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge & Chavo Guerrero (Disqualification)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- With Royal Rumble looming a week from Sunday, Undertaker kicked off SmackDown by grabbing the ring mic and issuing a grim warning: “In nine days, I will step into the ring at Royal Rumble. If you stand before me, you will fall before me. If you enter that ring, you will rest in peace!”

After Undertaker’s rare appearance on the mic, Matt Striker and Big Daddy V came down the ramp to have their say in the matter. While the quarter-ton ECW mastodon sneered at Undertaker, Striker -- still recovering from last week’s Tombstone -- asked The Phenom, “How do you plan to move this man over the tope rope and onto the floor?!” Things soon escalated, with Undertaker and V exchanging blows. The two stopped before a full blown battle ensued, but next week, these beasts will collide in the middle of the ring on SmackDown. (WATCH)

    First time on network TV
Although they squared off at Armageddon, this was the first time Khali and Finlay met up on SmackDown. With revenge on his mind, Khali dominated the Irishman for most of the match and finished him off with his brutal Vise Grip. (WATCH)

After the match, the Chairman had a little talk with Finlay, who was supposed to take care of Khali, “but Khali took care of you,” he said. To potentially give Finlay the advantage against the Punjabi giant, Mr. McMahon lined up a Belfast Brawl street fight between the two next week on the debut of SmackDown in HD. (WATCH)

    Very, Very VIP
Sixteen-time World Champion Ric Flair made an appearance on MVP’s VIP Lounge to talk about his upcoming Royal Rumble match against the United States Champion. After trading verbal barbs about who really is THE man, Flair smacked MVP in the chest, knocking him to the mat. (WATCH) Will Flair be forced into retirement at Royal Rumble? Or, will he put the younger MVP in his place?

    Ready to Rumble
Batista – winner of the 2005 Royal Rumble – looked to be on form for the 30-man over-the-top rope war by taking out The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry. The Animal roared and appeared more than ready for the Rumble. But, with his massive size and strength, Henry will surely not go over the ropes without a fight next Sunday.

    Caught in the middle
In Diva action, Michelle McCool defeated Layla and was later surprised to find a bouquet of flowers for her in the locker room area. At first, Michelle thought Jamie Noble got them for her, but Chuck Palumbo quickly stepped in to explain he gave the flowers – an effort to get back in McCool’s good graces for his actions on last week’s SmackDown. Stuck between the two testosterone-pumped Superstars, McCool had to play mediator to get them to agree to “all get along.”

    Redneck & Reject roll on
In other SmackDown action, Deuce & Domino wore down Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang. But in the end, it was a moonsault press from Yang to Domino that helped give his team the win.

    One big, happy family?
SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero continued to express her love for World Heavyweight Champion Edge. In a shocking display of affection backstage, Chavo Guerrero decided to make amends for the things he said about his aunt, Vickie. As he put his arms around both Vickie and Edge for a group hug, he asked, “What do you say the three of us become one, big happy family?”

Later in the ring, things got even more physical as The Rated-R Superstar and Chavo took on Rey Mysterio & ECW Champion CM Punk. At the end of the bout, Edge viciously attacked Mysterio with a steel chair to the knee, which immediately earned his team the loss by DQ. After the match, the Ultimate Opportunist and his cohorts, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder, dished out more punishment.

There are several major news items to report from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV:

    - The big news coming out of the broadcast is the revelation that maniacal manager James Mitchell is actually the father of Abyss! If Abyss didn’t come clean with the secret on Thursday, Mitchell promised the world he would do it himself. Following Abyss vs. Lance Hoyt, Mitchell commandeered a camera crew and let the secret out to the entire world. After Mitchell said this, Abyss apparently had a breakdown and left the arena without offering comment.

    - In the three-way main event for a shot at Kurt Angle’s TNA World Heavyweight Championship, Christian Cage won the bout over Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. Samoa Joe was disqualified during the bout for using a steel chair, leaving Cage and AJ to battle it out. However, the referee was wrong to DQ Joe, as AJ actually used the chair, not Joe. Later, Cage got the win – and some revenge – over Styles, earning “The Instant Classic” another shot against Angle at the February “Against All Odds” Pay-Per-View.

    - Also on Thursday, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machineguns officially accepted the Street Fight challenge at Against All Odds from Team 3D and Johnny Devine. If Lethal and the Machineguns win, Lethal gets the X Championship back. If Team 3D and Devine win, the X Division will cease to exist in TNA!

    - In Women’s Division action, ODB beat Angelina Love in a singles bout. After the win, ODB challenged Awesome Kong for a shot at the TNA Women’s Championship at Against All Odds!

    - Kip James demanded that BG James reveal who his partner would be for his upcoming TNA World Tag Team Championship shot, which BG did on Thursday night. BG finally revealed that his choice was his own father, the legendary “Bullet” Bob Armstrong! After the reveal, Kip agreed with the decision and hugged Bullet Bob, the man Kip considers a second father.

    - In singles action, one-half of the TNA World Tag Team Champions Tomko beat Eric Young. Following the bout, “Cowboy” James Storm tried to take back his drinking title from EY, but Tomko put a stop to that and backed up Young.

    - Also on “iMPACT!”, Robert Roode (with his new CEO Ms. Peyton Banks) defeated “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt. After the match, Ms. Brooks hit the ring to get some revenge on Banks, but Roode stopped her. However, before Roode could inflict any damage on Brooks, Matt Morgan came out to even the odds and chase off Roode.

    - In addition, cameras were at Shark Boy’s home to update fans on his medical condition after months of constant punishment and falling into a coma. However, in an amazing turn of events, Shark Boy emerged from his coma during the broadcast – but he was speaking in a strange Texas accent and swearing like a sailor! Check back next week for an update on Shark Boy!

Ook Mick Foley stopt dit jaar

-- Brian Fritz of the Orlando Sentinel noted in one of his recent columns that former WWE Hardcore Champion Mick Foley will be retiring this year. Foley had talked about his match with Jonathan Coachman on television being his last match, but also pitched an idea for after WrestleMania 24. Mick was also recently involved in a match with Hornswoggle on RAW.

Foley originally retired from World Wrestling Entertainment in 2000, with the idea that he would still appear once or twice a year. With his knee and back problems, Foley is said to be mentally ready to be finished for good.

WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison def. The Highlanders
    Kane def. Colin Delaney
    Shelton Benjamin def. Nunzio
Chavo Guerrero def. ECW Champion CM Punk

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Shelton Benjamin once again proved he’s ECW’s “Gold Standard” on Tuesday night when he defeated Nunzio. “Ain’t no stopping me now!” Benjamin proclaimed after his victory. It seems Benjamin really is speaking the truth.

Since making his ECW debut last November, Benjamin has been undefeated. What’s next for the three-time Intercontinental Champion and two-time Tag Team Champion who has secured a spot in the Royal Rumble? Clearly, Benjamin’s eyes are set on gold in 2008.

The Highlanders paid a visit to the Land of the Extreme on Tuesday night, facing off against WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & Morrison. The Tag Champs, who successfully defended their titles last week on ECW, once again reigned supreme, beating Rory & Robbie McAllister in non-title competition.

Colin Delaney returned to ECW for the fourth time when he faced another one of SmackDown’s giants, Kane, on Tuesday night. The Big Red Machine quickly demolished Delaney. Will the youngster have enough guts to revisit the Land of the Extreme for a fifth time?

Also on ECW, our fans caught another glimpse of Kofi Kingston, the Jamaican Superstar who has promised to bring trouble to paradise. Kingston will finally make landfall on ECW next week. Just what does he have in store for Tuesday nights? (WATCH)

Finally, World Champion Edge brought his “Cutting Edge” talk show to ECW, featuring special guest, ECW Champion CM Punk. Later that night, Edge nailed Punk with the World Heavyweight Championship, and Guerrero finally beat Punk to become the No. 1 contender for the ECW Title. (WATCH) Read more…

This Week's WWE Raw Rating Rises
Posted by Andy Steven on 01/15/2008 at 07:10 PM

    (Source - PWTorch)

This week’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw scored a 3.6 overall rating. This is in line with the recent average ratings. A year ago this week, WWE Raw scored a 4.1 rating for the second week running. The year before that in 2006 and in 2005, the show scored a 4.3 and a 3.6. The last time WWE Raw scored a lower rating on this week of the year was 10 years ago in 1998. With that said, this week's rating is an improvement from last week’s disappointing 3.2 which was Raw’s lowest rating in several years.
