What Happened After RAW Went Off The Air Posted by Dave Mitchell on 03/08/2011 at 02:46 AM
Credit to reader Joshua Rollins for this live report after Monday's RAW went off the air:
After Raw went off the air, Michael Cole came out in a referee shirt while The Miz was on the ramp and John Cena was in the ring. He said he was going to referee the main event, and if Cena and Orton don't follow his rules, the Raw GM has given him the right to suspend both men through WrestleMania.
For the bonus main event of Miz & C.M. Punk vs. Orton & Cena, Punk came out first. Then, Miz came back out. Then, Orton came out and Punk put on Cena's "Via Satellite" t-shirt and Cena's hat.
Bonus Dark Match: John Cena & Randy Orton beat WWE champion The Miz & C.M. Punk with Michael Cole as special referee. Punk had funny body language the entire match. About five minutes into the match, all of the Superstars were on the mat. King then came into the ring and ripped the ref shirt off Cole, who ran to the back. King then put on the shirt. By this time, all four men were up. Cena hit an Attitude Adjustment on Miz at the same time Orton dropped Punk with the RKO. Double three count. Cena and Orton won.

DALLAS - Steer horns, boot spurs and cactus needles. When it comes to sharp objects, the Lone Star State enjoys its fair share. When Raw mosied into town, though, the Superstars brought their own piercing particulars, including barbed words, pointed challenges and one sharp elbow.
WWE Champion The Miz attacked John Cena (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS) In case anyone forgot who the WWE Champion is, The Miz was happy to refresh their memory. Though supposedly boycotting Raw (as cited on his Twitter account), The Cleveland Screamer surfaced from under the ring as John Cena addressed disparaging comments made by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson a week earlier. The WWE Champion then attacked the Cenation Commander-in-Chief. As Miz lectured the WWE Universe and The Rock, his WrestleMania opponent lie writhing on the canvas. Just as it appeared the WWE Champion had wrapped up his tirade, he turned back to a dazed Cena and crushed him with a People's Elbow before bidding a fed-up farewell.
Dolph Ziggler def. John Morrison; Trish Stratus vs. Vickie Guerrero announced for next week (WATCH | PHOTOS) After his termination from SmackDown, Dolph Ziggler appeared eager to prove himself to his new Raw roster mates. Consider it done. The showy Superstar tackled the hefty test of John Morrison and proved he belongs by beating The Shaman of Sexy.
After the bout, his special lady friend, Vickie Guerrero, received a rude awakening when it was revealed that only Ziggler was hired on by the Raw GM, not Vickie. She could join the red brand, however, under one condition: The shrill cougar must defeat former Womens Champion Trish Stratus next week to secure a spot.
CM Punk def. R-Truth (WATCH | PHOTOS) Ouch. As if being trounced by CM Punk wasnt agonizing enough, the New Nexus leaders disciple, Mason Ryan, muscled in on the action. The overwhelming underling proved his fealty by pummeling Truth with a painful powerhouse move.
U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan def. Sheamus by Count-out (WATCH | PHOTOS) Whats red and white and angry all over? Yep, its Sheamus. The Irishmans losing streak continued as he dropped a non-title match to U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan by count-out after seemingly injuring his ankle. In the wake of the bout, a frustrated Sheamus challenged Bryan to a U.S. Title Match next week, vowing that were he to lose, he will quit WWE!
Stone Cold Steve Austin signed contract to be special guest referee in Michael Cole vs. Jerry The King Lawler WrestleMania match (WATCH | PHOTOS) Last week, Michael Cole announced that his trainer for his WrestleMania match against Jerry The King Lawler will be Jack Swagger. This week, the other boot dropped. Cole revealed his choice as special guest referee: JBL! Only one problem.
Before The Lonestar Loudmouth could sign the contract, Stone Cold Steve Austin confronted the two. After stunning JBL, The Texas Rattlesnake signed on the dotted line to become the matchs special guest referee and chased off Cole.
Snooki from Jersey Shore will be guest star on Raw next week Brace yourself, WWE Universe, Nicole Snooki Polizzi is coming to Raw! The star of cables highest rated show, Jersey Shore, will drop by Monday night when Raw rolls into St. Louis. What will the fun-loving, outspoken celebrity have to say? Tune in to find out!
Divas Champion Eve def. Nikki Bella (WATCH | PHOTOS) Oh, those crafty Bellas. Last week, the ladies hoodwinked the referee with Twin Magic, allowing Nikki to become the No. 1 contender for the Divas Title. The deception allowed Nikki a title opportunity against Divas Champion Eve. Unfortunately for her, though, she and sister Brie went to the well once too often. As the deceitful duo attempted Twin Magic again during Nikkis title bout, they were found out. The revelation cost them and also helped Eve to retain.
Sunny announced as the next inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011 With Womens History Month upon us, it seemed only fitting that first-ever Diva, Sunny, was announced as the next inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011. The gorgeous groundbreaker will join Shawn Michaels, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Bullet Bob Armstrong during the Hall of Fame ceremony in Atlanta on April 2.
Christian def. Brodus Clay (WATCH | PHOTOS) Rather than compete against Christian, Alberto Del Rio instead recruited his WWE NXT Rookie, Brodus Clay, for the task. Although Clay proved he is indeed a behemoth, Captain Charismas experience appeared too much to tackle. After Christian won, however, The Mexican elitist waylaid him in typically underhanded fashion.
Randy Orton def. David Otunga (WATCH: PART 1 | PART 2 | PHOTOS) Another week, another casualty. Despite suffering an ambush from The New Nexus, Randy Orton competed in a match against New Nexus disciple David Otunga. As stipulated by the Raw GM a week ago, should Otunga win he could be in CM Punks corner during his bout with The Viper at WrestleMania. Were he to lose, however, he would be banned.
As the match wore on, Orton exhibited stamina and determination enough to eventually overcome his sizable foe. Afterward, WWEs Apex Predator lined up to punt Otunga in the skull. Before he could, Mason Ryan burst onto the scene, only to find himself RKOd. The chaos prompted Punk himself to join the fray and plead with Orton not to follow through with his patented punt. Rather than abide, however, Orton reared back and fated Otunga to the same fate as fellow Nexi Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris before him.
The Undertaker proposed his WrestleMania Match with Triple H be No Holds Barred (WATCH | PHOTOS) The Deadman just raised the stakes. Emerging on Raw, The Undertaker informed Triple H that not only did he end the storied career of Shawn Michaels, hes more than willing to log a repeat performance in order to maintain his undefeated streak at WrestleMania. In a bold move, even for him, The Phenom proposed that he and Triple H wage their war at WrestleMania in a No Holds Barred Match.

Bischoff Says There Should Be Less Wrestling PPVs Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/07/2011 at 11:28 AM
TNA Wrestling's Eric Bischoff recently answered a fan question on his official Facebook page which focuses on the amount of annual Wrestling pay-per view events.
"Definetly need to drop the number of PPV's," said Bischoff. "The business isn't hot enough to sustain the current number and doing them hurts the long term viability of the category."
Bischoff continued, "Worked in the 90s. Not now. Just my personal opinion. It will take balls and vision to change the model."
Former WWE Superstar Arrested This Weekend Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/06/2011 at 12:17 PM
- Former WWE star Shad Gaspard was apparently arrested over the weekend in Columbus, Ohio for what his wife calls "crossing the street."
Shad's wife wrote the following on Twitter last night:
"This is Shad's wife everyone. I want to address the rumors that are going on around the Internet right now about Shad's arrest. He was indeed arrested today, in Columbus. No use denying it. But Shad did nothing wrong, he was trying to attend the Arnold Classic, and can you guys believe that the Columbus police department has nothing better to do than arrest him for crossing the street????!! That's what they got him for "pedestrian in roadway" I think we should all stand up and be heard! Too many cops abusing their authority!! Apparently they even decided that it was necessary to tackle him.... I am very disappointed in those who "serve and protect" right now."
She then went on to note that Shad's bail had been posted and they have hired a lawyer. She also said that footage of the incident was available and that it was being released to TMZ and other media outlets.
- Christian made his return to SmackDown last night, saving Edge from an Alberto Del Rio attack. Earlier in the night, WWE announced that Christian would be returning to SmackDown on next week's episode.
World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. Drew McIntyre WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel def. Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov (WWE Tag Team Title Match) Michelle McCool & Layla def. Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes Big Show def. Kane (Disqualification) Jack Swagger def. JTG
CLEVELAND World Heavyweight Champion Edge and his No. 1 contender Alberto Del Rio moved one step closer to their blockbuster WrestleMania showdown, when their contract signing for The Show of Shows derailed into absolute chaos.
Edge and Alberto Del Rio had a WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship Contract Signing (WATCH | PHOTOS) Once both Edge and Alberto Del Rios signatures were affixed to their main event WrestleMania World Heavyweight Championship contract (match preview), mayhem quickly took over. Though Edge gained the initial advantage over his aristocratic adversary, interference by Ricardo Rodriguez allowed Del Rio to lock in the excruciating cross armbreaker on the 11-time World Champion. When he attempted to injure Edge further, however, Christian emerged to save his former tag team partner.
Jack Swagger def. JTG (WATCH | PHOTOS) Before Jack Swaggers match with JTG began, Michael Cole the man The All-American American will train to face Jerry Lawler at WrestleMania made a huge announcement. On Monday Night Raw, he will unveil his Special Guest Referee for his match with The King on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Swagger then went on to soundly defeat JTG with his dreaded ankle lock.
Big Show def. Kane by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS) In the middle of Kanes epic match with Big Show, The Corre opted to make its way to ringside. Wade Barrett introduced a steel chair into the squared-circle, which The Devils Favorite Demon didnt hesitate to use on his giant foe. But, after the bell as The Corre attacked The Worlds Largest Athlete Justin Gabriel accidently backed into The Big Red Monster, prompting Kane to level him with the chair as well.
Michelle McCool & Layla def. Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes (WATCH | PHOTOS) While the referees attention was turned toward Rosa Mendes, Michelle McCool the non-legal Diva at that point in the match delivered a devastating kick to Beth Phoenix. This paved the way for her partner-in-flawless Layla to get the pin.
The Undertaker returned to SmackDown (WATCH | PHOTOS) The ominous Undertaker returned to SmackDown in order to respond to the comments made by his WrestleMania opponent Triple H four days ago on Monday Night Raw. Though The Phenom gave tremendous credit to the greatness of The King of Kings, he proclaimed, in no uncertain terms, that The Game will not end his monumental WrestleMania streak that stands at 18-0. (Match preview)
WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel def. Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov (WATCH | PHOTOS) Former WWE Tag Team Champions Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov evoked their rematch clause to challenge the current champions Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater. Thanks to a Corre distraction, The One Man Rock Band Slater attacked Santino from behind and cemented the huge victory over their charismatic opponents.
Cody Rhodes Challenged Rey Mysterio to a match at WrestleMania (WATCH | PHOTOS) One week after Cody Rhodes and his Hall of Famer father Dusty Rhodes executed a sinister plot of revenge that took down Rey Mysterio, the second-generation Superstar challenged The Ultimate Underdog to a match at WrestleMania, promising to remove Reys mask on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
World Heavyweight Champion Edge def. Drew McIntyre (WATCH | PHOTOS) When Edge came before the WWE Universe to rejoice in the firing of his ex-wife Vickie Guerrero one week ago, Drew McIntyre decided to crash the party and attack The Rated-R Superstar. SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long emerged to inform The Sinister Scotsman that he must immediately face The Ultimate Opportunist in a match or be fired.
After blasting McIntyre with the Spear, Edge picked his opponents shoulders off the canvas, unleashing a devastating new submission maneuver to make the Chosen One tap-out.
WWE Offers Contract to Female MMA Fighter Posted by Steve Carrier on 03/04/2011 at 01:06 AM
Sources close to Strikeforce Women's Middleweight Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos indicate the Brazilian mixed martial artist is in negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Two weeks ago, Cristiane attended a WWE live event in California with her husband, Strikeforce fighter Evangelista Santos. She was offered a contract on the spot.
Christiane has not been offered a fight since her June 26, 2010 bout against Jan Finney. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker declined to comment on the matter, but it is largely assumed the promotion has been unable to find any willing participants over the course of the past nine months.
3/3/11 Impact does huge rating (details) Posted by Corbin Nordhoff on 03/04/2011 at 08:01 PM
Last night's heavily hyped episode of TNA iMPACT! drew a 1.36 (1.4) cable rating (not including the overrun), the program's highest mark since January 4th, 2010. The first hour drew a 1.32, while the second hour garnered a 1.41. Impact drew 1.8 million viewers over the course of two hours. The show's overrun featuring Sting vs. Jeff Hardy drew a 1.48.
Here are the quarter hour numbers:
Q1 - 1.52 (1.5) rating - In-ring segment featuring Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan, Immortal and Fortune
Q2 - 1.26 (1.3) rating - Backstage segments featuring Bart Scott, Immortal, The Jarretts, AJ Styles, Kazarian, Matt Hardy, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff; Beer Money, Inc. vs. Gunner and Murphy
Q3 - 1.32 (1.3) rating - Beer Money, Inc. vs. Gunner and Murphy; backstage segments featuring The Jarretts and Angelina of Jersey Shore; Velvet Sky vs. Sarita, post-match with The Shore and Angelina
Q4 - 1.17 (1.2) rating - In-ring segment featuring The Shore, Angelina, Sarita and The Beautiful People; backstage segments featuring Mr. Anderson, Eric Young, Orlando Jordan, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan
Q5 - 1.36 (1.4) rating - The Jarretts' wedding; backstage segments with Hulk Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Eric Bischoff and The Jarretts; Scott Steiner vs. Rob Terry
Q6 - 1.43 (1.4) rating - Scott Steiner vs. Rob Terry; backstage segments with Ric Flair, Bart Scott and Kurt Angle; Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez
Q7 - 1.37 (1.4) rating - backstage segment with Hulk Hogan and Mr. Anderson; The Jarretts' wedding
Q8 - 1.42 (1.4) rating - The Jarretts' wedding, limo shot of boots, Jeff Hardy and Sting ring entrances
Overrun - 1.48 (1.5) rating - Sting vs. Jeff Hardy
As seen above, the show never dropped below a 1.2 and maintained their audience throughout the entire show. As noted earlier, TNA and SpikeTV are both very happy with that number considering the show went head-to-head with a UFC event and the season finale of The Jersey Shore, which did a huge number. Those two shows share the same demographic as TNA and are their main competition on Thursday nights.

Chris Masters def. Curt Hawkins (WATCH | PHOTOS) Something must have lit a fire under Chris Masters recently, because the big man has been simply dominant in recent weeks. After scoring two major victories over the destructive Tyler Reks in recent weeks, The Masterpiece continued his winning streak by overpowering the arrogant Curt Hawkins and putting him away with The Master Lock. The powerhouses celebration was short-lived, however. Without warning, Reks stormed the ring and nailed Masters with a debilitating Burning Hammer. Clearly, the rivalry between these two titans is far from over.
Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov def. Zack Ryder & Primo (WATCH | PHOTOS) Two weeks after losing the WWE Tag Team Titles, Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov began to work their way back up the tag ranks with a victory over the cocky pair of Zack Ryder & Primo. A talented team despite their arrogance, Ryder & Primo were formidable opponents for the former champions, but Marella & Kozlovs experience won out in the end. All it took was a vicious Cobra strike from the Italian Superstar to net a big victory for the odd couple.
R-Truth def. William Regal (WATCH | PHOTOS) R-Truth and William Regal have practically nothing in common. Truth is a fast, flashy rapper from the American south. Regal is an arrogant, uptight snob from England. The two Superstars couldnt be more different except for the fact that both men are talented veterans that know how to win. These ring smarts made for an interesting encounter as Regal attempted to use his brutal, submission-based offense to slow down Truths blistering speed and cunning. The British Brawlers strategy worked for much of the bout until the rapping Superstar pulled off a reversal out of nowhere to score the win. Now thats whats up.
Dixie on Re-signing Sting, New TV Shows, More Posted by Amish Patel on 03/04/2011 at 11:05 AM
- Dixie Carter recently appeared on The Total Nonstop Podcast to promote last night's iMPACT and here are some highlights, courtesy of PW Torch:
Re-signing Sting for last night's show: "We do have one big surprise and I think the thing about surprises is there are very few of them in this business; there's very few sure things. This is something I've worked on and I've worked on very hard. To me, this is one of the sure things, for me, in this business. People will have to tune in and see. I hope they are as happy and excited as I am."
Having a role on TV: "It's something I never wanted to do, but I took a tremendous amount of pressure. It's pretty hard when someone looks at you and says, 'Okay, if you could be a part of something that maybe makes an impact positively on the company,' why would you not do that? I think the reason is I didn't know if I could do it, quite honestly. I think I've gone from absolutely not wanting to do it to it's just more of an evolution of me how I've grown in this role since I first started."
More TNA programming: "Having more shows on television in the U.S., to me, is a critical element of our growth. It's hard to compete with two hours of TV against ten or 12 hours of television (from WWE) every week."
Taking iMPACT on the road: "We know that it would be important to take Impact out and tour, but when I talk about running this company like a business, I don't put my head on the pillow every night without thinking about staying in business and turning a profit and giving these great wrestlers and fans a company 10, 15, 20 years from now. And we have to make good business decisions."
"Touring is extremely expensive. It's extremely expensive to take a production like we have on the road for television. We have to be smart about it. Yes, we know it's critical. Yes, we know it's absolutely the next step in the evolution of TNA... For us to grow, we need to take Impact on the road."
- Shark Boy announced on his official website that he requested his release from TNA Wrestling, which was granted.
"I have officially requested and been granted my release from TNA Wrestling," he wrote. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at TNA for giving me the opportunity to perform in front of their audience since the very early days of the company. Thanks especially to the great TNA fans who have given me their support throughout the past eight years... Now on to the next chapter!"
