For this entry I have chosen to talk about my favorite player which is Vincent Kompany. He is our former captain, because of his recent injuries he can't play for our national football team. Vincent Kompany was born the 10th of April 1986 in Ukkel(Belgium). When he was 17 years old Kompany joined the A team of Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht. Despite his young age Kompany grew almost immediately into a key player. Anderlecht eventually finished 1st that season, afterwards Kompany won the trophy Young Professional Football Player of the Year. On the 27th of January 2005 Kompany won the golden boot.
Bigger clubs were becoming interested in the young defender and in June 2006 Kompany went to the German team, Hamburger SV, who paid 10,5 million for him. Vincent has got a difficult time when his mother dies. At that moment he is also injured. His trainer said that Kompany dragged the team down. It was clear that Kompany had to found a new club. On the 22th of August 2008 Kompany signed a contract for four seasons by Manchester City. Now Vincent is still a member of the team.
Vincent Kompany is not only a footballer but also a philantropist. He is an ambassador for SOS Children's Villages since 2006. Together with his wife Carla, he also founded the association "Vica" on. The social project supports young people who are struggling to develop in their city. In 2012 he founded a record label to support young music talents. He is my favorite football player because he wants to make the world a better place.
