't Was vandaag geweldig vroeg opstaan, maar KAVV heeft da over voor te voetballen he.. We wisten dat het vandaag nie zow simpel zou zijn, maar we hebbe àlles gegeven! Eerst was Brecht aan de beurt, na 5 (of nog minder) minuten stonden we al achter.. Dan was het onze beurt, dan weer Brecht enzovoort :) Maar de eindstand is ook verdiend : 4-4 !
----------------------------------------------- Gistere (zaterdag) was het thuismatch tegen Horendonk. Op zich hélemaal niet zo moeilijk, maar we hebben wel ons best gedaan. Horendonk heeft geeneen keer Bieke in moeilijkheden gebracht.. Maar wij -integendeel- zijn gewonnen met 5-0! MET M'N EERSTE OFFICIELE DOELPUNT! :)
Deze zaterdag moestten we tegen Flandria. Vorig jaar waren ze slechter als ons en nu stonden ze zowat gelijk met ons. Dus het beloofde een spannende match te worden.. Het begon al goed voor ons, Stefanie scoorde met een fantastisch schot (onze corner xD).. Nét voor de rust scoorde ook Flandria door een vrije trap. Tweede helft ging heel gelijk op : Het werd gelijkspel, maar toch zijn we uiteindelijk nog verloren met 3-4. We waren wel beduidend beter dan Flandria, maar het had nie mogen zyn..Verdomme! :D Maar één ding is zeker : Hoogstraten gaat er nie goed van zijn! Tt de volgende! x

Hallow mensjes, Jullie weten het misschien - uh, of misschien niet - dat er binnekort een wedstrijd komt in 'sterrenwereldje'. En de wedstrijd is..trrrrrrr..de meest sexy vegetariër! En toeval of niet, ik ben een fan van Anthony Kiedis,leadzanger van de Red Hot Chili Peppers & hij is vegetariër! Dus..Willen jullie AUB stemmen op mijn grote idool? Ik zal jullie eeuwig dankbaar zijn!
Zoals vorig jaar in Duitsland (check!!) kan ik weer op pad met mijn reisgenootjes Sander (frusciflea) en Bianca (peppertje86). Peter (freakystyle) is niet met ons mee omdat hij naar eigen zeggen niet durfde. We vragen ons nog steeds af wat hij daarmee bedoelt, Peter?
In elk geval is het mooi geworden, en is deze keer extra speciaal omdat Sander geïnterviewd wordt door Bram Van Splunteren, die een docu maakt over de Nederlandse connectie met de Red Hot Chili Peppers. Misschien worden ook Marike en Angelique (Sorceress) geïnterviewd, spannend!
Zaterdag spoor ik van Leuven naar Rotterdam, waar ik opgewacht wordt door Sander en Bianca. Gezellig boodschappen doen en samen eten. Het belooft comfortabel te worden: geen lek tentje maar een zacht bed. Hevige fans als we zijn hebben we ons vreemd genoeg nooit gewaagd aan overnachten bij de ingang. Nu ja, vreemd. Nog snel een berichtje droppen op het forum en dan vroeg naar bed. We hebben gepland om 7u30 aan het Goffertpark te zijn, dat is dus opstaan om 5u!
Uiteindelijk komen we aan om 8u: de gezellige mannen van de security vonden het wel grappig om ons 'een parkje om' te laten lopen. En we zijn lang niet de enige vroege vogels, we ontmoeten vooral veel buitenlandse fans. Gelukkig voor ons is er veel zon en kunnen we ons settelen tegen het hek.
Sander en vrienden
Bij de andere ingang vinden we Marike en Angelique die we snel wegwijs maken naar 'de beste' ingang, en dat blijkt ook! Onderweg ontmoeten we nog meer bekenden: Sybrand, Lili (Lizanne), Funky_Flea_Bass (Pieter), RHCP-fan (Peter), Dorian en Fleadancer (bij deze moet hij me zijn naam nog eens herhalen). We maken ook een praatje met Els, een dappere Belgische fan die alleen naar het concert komt omdat haar vrienden niet zo vroeg uit de veren willen. Toevallig komen we haar een week later in Parijs opnieuw tegen!

Sander, Marike, en Angelique worden alledrie geïnterviewd, en zijn intussen celebs in Pepperfanworld. By the way, Marike heeft een grijze trui aan die Anthony Kiedis zelf gedragen heeft! En nee, hij komt niet van e-bay. Op het moment van het interview met Sander worden de eerste hekken geopend, wat even voor paniek zorgt, want Sander heeft het kaartje van Bianca.
Als alles opengegooid wordt stuiten we eerst nog op een belabberde security die niet eens onze tickets kan scannen. We willen ons plekje niet kwijt en lopen dus gewoon door, terwijl ze achter ons beginnen schreeuwen. Het is een afschuwelijk lange weg naar beneden, en iedereen loopt me voorbij. Bianca en ik geraken vooraan bij Flea, maar Sander staat met Marike en Angelique vooraan in het midden. Hier krijg ik een dipje, want ik sta véél te ver weg van John Frusciante..
Uiteindelijk besluit Sander dat hij zich niet zo best voelt en schuift hij met Bianca door naar achter. Ik neem me voor assertief te zijn en baan me een weg door het publiek naar Marike en Angelique toe. We staan nu vlak voor John. Uiteindelijk moet Marike opgeven, zodat alleen Angelique en ik overblijven. Een golf van opluchting en geluk overspoelt me! Ik stijg boven mezelf uit en negeer alle ongemakjes, zelfs mijn voeten doen geen pijn meer. Vanaf nu is elk nummer dat uit de boxen komt mijn lievelingsnummer, ik ben gewoon dankbaar dat ik hier mag staan!
Focus even op het meisje met het felrode haar op de eerste rij. Naast haar staat Angelique met het lange blonde haar, en daarnaast sta ik: vrij donker gekleed maar mijn oranje polsbandje is duidelijk te zien!
Het is ook best gezellig, zo onder Pepperfans! De boxen staan wel heel erg luid, gelukkig deelt de security gele oordopjes uit. Ook de oranje polsbandjes blijken handig. En de regencapes. Die we al gauw uitlaten. Er vallen geregeld buien maar met de warmte en het volk is een frisse bui best welkom, al leveren de capes wel enkele sfeervolle beelden op.
Hoe heerlijk is het om vooraan te staan en alles sidestage te kunnen volgen! We zien alle 4 de mannen en zelfs Josh Klinghoffer, zodat het geen verrassing meer is dat hij opnieuw mee zal spelen, net als bij de US-tour. Tijdens Mickey Avalon roepen we luid naar Chad Smith, die het hilarisch vindt en naar het podium wijst. Tja, wie stond er ook alweer op het podium..
Mickey Avalon was voor mij een onbekende, tot John Frusciante besloot een boze brief te schrijven naar de fans die Mickey uitgejouwd hadden in Oklahoma. Uit respect applaudisseer ik, maar ik neem het publiek niets kwalijk want het is - en zeker het begin - een zielige vertoning. De witte onderbroek is een absoluut dieptepunt. Grappig wordt het pas als het publiek begint te gooien: broodjes, appels, werkelijk alles gaat richting podium! Mickey blijkt geen slechte vanger, en roept: "50 000 of you and you can't even hit my face"! Go Mickey. Ter afscheid toont hij ons zijn middenvinger, waarna werkelijk het hele eerste vak zijn opgestoken wijsvinger laat zien. Best hallucinant van op een afstandje, ik wou dat ik het zelf had kunnen zien.
Dirty Pretty Things is saai, weinig meer aan toe te voegen. Monotone songs en weinig charisma. Daardoor ga ik weer beseffen waarom de Peppers zo goed zijn. Intussen help ik maar een plastic zak zoeken voor de jongen naast mij, die nodig moet plassen. We voelen met hem mee, het is zijn eerste RHCP-concert en hij wil zijn plaatsje niet kwijt! De zak belandt ergens achter de boxen, en tja, iemand moet hem opgeraapt hebben..
Zoals altijd gaat er een golf van energie door het publiek als de Peppers opkomen! Anthony maakt zijn entree gehuld in een bizarre krantencape - meteen de première van het ding - en de 'mottige moustache' is weg! Hij heeft een nieuw (vrouwen)kapsel, maar daar vallen we niet over bij The Swan. Grote verrassing: "Under The Bridge" - dat gewoonlijk aan het einde komt - is nu het derde nummer! Nu we hadden het al gehoord via de security maar we konden het niet geloven. Als "Snow" volgt ben ik helemaal in de wolken, dit is zo'n heerlijk nummer met een catchy refrein dat ik gewoon nooit beu word, en altijd maar liever ga horen!
Een hoogtepunt van het concert is natuurlijk de solo van John! Vandaag speelt hij "Songbird" van Fleetwood Mac. Een klein momentje van irritatie als hij na het eerste akkoord z'n gitaar verwisselt, het hoeft echt niet altijd zo perfectionistisch. Maar daarna zit de sfeer weer goed, Chad moedigt het publiek aan om mee te klappen met het ritme. Wat we ook doen, of tja, proberen. We zitten er namelijk mijlenver naast. John lacht, buigt naar de microfoon en zegt: 'slow down'. Check hier het prachtige filmpje van Angelique!!
Een tweede verrassing volgt: "Emit Remmus"! Dit is zo'n Californication-song die we weinig live te horen krijgen, Anthony schreef het in 1998 voor zijn toenmalig vriendinnetje Mel C. "Don't Forget Me"! Geen kans hoor , dit is één van m'n lievelingsnummers. "Hump De Bump" is een grappig intermezzo, vooral als Anthony gaat zitten en een beetje op Flea's bas zit te friemelen. "Californication" begint met een memorabele intro!
Nu moet ik toch even anticiperen op sommige kritieken die zeggen dat de 'flow' van het concert onderbroken wordt door de vele jams en solo's. Het is maar wat je ervan verwacht: fans zoals wij die het eerste vak bevolken komen voor deze intense momenten van interactie en deze korte intieme momentjes. Een nagespeelde collectie 'greatest hits' zou teleurstellend zijn, en het is een sterke band die de aandacht van het publiek tijdens deze twee extremen weet vast te houden. Hier staat een volwassen band, waar het gezwollen ego van de frontman niet (langer) alle aandacht opeist.
Kijk, zelfs Chad en Josh krijgen een drumsolo! Hier zijn de mensen achteraan in het voordeel, de schermen zijn geweldig! Vooraan kunnen we weinig zien, het podium is te hoog. Ook de trompetsolo van Flea is een mooi intermezzo. Velen beseffen niet hoe bijzonder dit is: Flea wou vroeger jazzmuzikant worden en trompet was zijn eerste instrument, lang voor Hillel Slovak hem basgitaar leerde spelen.
Josh Klinghoffer
Met het verrassende "C'Mon Girl", een minder bekend nummer van Stadium Arcadium, gaat het publiek voor het eerst helemaal uit de bol. Ik hou me eigenlijk totaal niet bezig met het opvolgen van setlists, zodat elk nummer komt zoals het komt, in zijn volledige waarde. En "Give it Away" blijft een waardige afsluiter!!

Zanger Robert Plant bevestigt reünie van Led Zeppelin
Nadat hij eerder dit jaar geruchten over een reünie van de legendarische Britse hardrockband Led Zeppelin had afgeschoten, heeft leadzanger Robert Plant nu bevestigd dat het gezelschap effectief weer bij elkaar komt, zo staat te lezen op de website van het Britse muziekblad New Musical Express (NME).
Volgens de NME heeft Plant woensdag gezegd dat hij op weg was naar zijn vroegere collega's en dat er die namiddag "weer een band" was. Maar op het vlak van concrete details weidt de NME enkel uit over een reünieconcert dat mogelijk op 2 november in Londen zal plaatsvinden. Over wat er daarna zal gebeuren staat op de site niets te lezen. Led Zeppelin ontstond in 1968 uit de verre overblijfselen van de band The Yardbirds en geldt als zowat de stamvader van de de klassieke, op blues geënte, pure hardrock. Maar na de plotselinge dood van Bonham in 1980 hield de band op te bestaan. Links en rechts waren er wel eens gelegenheidsreünies zoals Live Aid in 1985, waarbij de overlevenden een beroep deden op Jason, de zoon van John Bonham.
Pink Floyd-gitarist David Gilmour promoot dvd
De Britse gitarist David Gilmour, kopstuk van de legendarische Britse rockband Pink Floyd, heeft donderdagavond vanuit het Londense Odeon en per satelliet een cinematografisch voorsmaakje gegeven van wat er op de dvd "Remember That Night: David Gilmour Live At The Royal Albert Hall" zal staan.
Gilmour vertolkte in de Odeon welgeteld één gitaarnummer, en beantwoordde vragen van fans. Er was via satelliet ook een fragment van 85 minuten uit de dvd te zien in enkele Europese cinemazalen. De live-dvd verschijnt op 17 september en biedt een staalkaart van Gilmours carrière. Het is niet alleen Floyd-materiaal maar ook nummers uit bijvoorbeeld zijn laatste studio-album "On an Island". In de nacht van zaterdag op zondag toont de Britse zender BBC1 vanaf middernacht (onze tijd) een uur lang enkele stukken uit de dvd. (ACK)
