Dear People, 

I just enjoyed a short but lovely holiday with my family to the Poland with my family. During our holiday we met an elderly taxi chauffeur. During our conversation he mentioned his mother, a 95-years old lady who still lived at home. The women has lived a rich live. Nowadays her health was deteriorating very fast and doctors confirmed that she wouldn't get healthy anymore. The women was satisfied with her life and she wished, in dialogue with her family, to end it on a painless way.

But the polish government refuses to allow euthanasia out of religious reasons. I think this a degrease! Every individual should have fully control over his/her right of self-determination, like it is described in the European constitution.

Religion is free in Europe, and this should stay this way. But this doesn't mean that religious leaders can determine what is good and what is bad for all the citizens of Europe. If I become president of Europe, I'll see it as one of my first task to guarantee ethical freedom for all citizens.

Dear People ,

In my five years as minister of foreign affairs of Europe I had the chance to experience a lot of great memorable moments, but I also had to deal with a lot of less memorable moments. A few years ago, during a visit to Middle East, I visited a shelter house for mistreated women. I will never forget the story of Ni'mah, a17-year old girl, mutilated for life. Ni'mah was burned all over her body. She was set on fire by her own family after she refused to marry her cousin, whom she had never met in her life. Her family was never punished.

Ever since I have met Ni'mah, I will never forget that women's rights shouldn't be taken for granted. All over the world women still enjoy less rights then men. This is a great injustice that should be banned, not only out of Europe, but out of the world. If I have the change to become the president of Europe, I will fight for women's rights all over the world! And whenever I am having an off-day, I remember the strength that Ni'mah to go on. I'm inspired by that strength every day.

Dear People,

Today I visited the European college in Bruges. It is the world's oldest institution of studies and training in European affairs. Hundreds of students from around Europe graduate here every year. But from this year on also students from out of Europe subscribed into one of the masters in European studies. I really enjoyed all these young people from in and out of Europe studying European studies and showing such an enthusiasm for the history, the today and the future of Europe..

I was very impressed by the atmosphere in the college. All those different European languages and influences mixing together. Such a diversity!

I hope to see such diversity once the whole of Europe. Polish people lunching with Portuguese, Swedish people enjoying themselves at the bar with Turkish people. Fantastic!

A Europe of diversity is the future for Europe!
