After returning to Raw recently, The Masterpiece made his “WWE Superstars” debut this Thursday by doing what he does best — taking his opponent out with The Master Lock. While Santino Marella put up a great fight, Masters used his impressive strength and amazing abilities to walk away with a win. With a physique and skill set like his, Masters is once again making a serious impact in WWE. 

William Regal & Paul Burchill def. Yoshi Tatsu & Tyler Reks (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The WWE Universe openly expressed their dislike of William Regal and Paul Burchill, but it wasn’t enough to stop the rough Englishmen from finding victory in tag team action. Despite showing themselves to be a cohesive unit and displaying impressive strength and speed in the ring, Reks and Tatsu fell short against their opponents thanks in part to the Blackpool native’s veteran knowledge of his craft. Both Tatsu and Reks might have bright futures ahead, but they’ll need to learn how to beat WWE-caliber opponents like their English counterparts before that will come to fruition.

Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio def. Mike Knox by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
In a possible SummerSlam Intercontinental Championship Match preview, The Desert Destroyer was disqualified against The Master of the 619 due to Dolph Ziggler’s interference. Just one day before Knox and Ziggler step in the ring with Finlay and R-Truth for a Fatal Four Way to find out who will fight Rey for his gold, both men were looking to send a message to Mysterio. However, after the match, The Ultimate Underdog used his speed and some evasive tactics to avoid vicious attacks from both men. Who Mysterio will face at SummerSlam is still up in the air, but after what transpired on “WWE Superstars,” he now knows that he has one of the toughest fights of his life ahead of him.

- On tonight's episode of Impact, a brief vignette aired promoting Elijah Burke's new character, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. It was noted that he's "coming" on August 16th, which is when the Hard Justice pay-per-view takes place.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – In one of the most historic, memorable matches in ECW on Syfy history, Christian retained his ECW Championship after defeating Tommy Dreamer in a brutal Extreme Rules Match, complete with Singpore canes, crutches, steel trash cans, a hot dog cart and even a car door, Tuesday night in Nassau Coliseum.

With no countouts and no disqualifications, anything was possible when ECW Champion Christian defended his title against Tommy Dreamer in a match near and dear to the ECW Original’s heart – Extreme Rules. Dreamer used nearly every Extreme prop imaginable to bruise and batter Captain Charisma in front of the WWE Universe, who was clearly divided with their cheers for both competitors.

Dreamer tossed Christian face-first into a hot dog cart, reached in, took a bite of a hot dog, then brazenly smashed the rest into his opponent’s face. Christian endured a beating with steel condiment containers, crutches and Singapore canes, and was even sent head-first into a steel trash can. But Captain Charisma endured, retaliating against the ECW Original who was so hungry to regain the Title. Christian picked up a car door from outside the ring, but Dreamer tried to used it against him, attempting to Piledrive the ECW Champion into the steel. When it mattered most, Christian countered, sending Dreamer into the car door with a Killswitch. Christian picked up the car door and laid it atop Dreamer to aid him with the pin, securing the victory to retain the ECW Championship.

With the ECW Title still strapped around Christian’s waist after the hard-fought Extreme Rules battle, who will Captain Charisma have to face in the future on the road to SummerSlam?

“The Abraham Washington Show” returns (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Zack Ryder interrupted this week’s “Abraham Washington Show,” claiming the show as his own, since they were in Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum – his home turf. “Bro, this is Long Island and everyone knows the only good thing to come out of Long Island is Zack Ryder,” he said. But Washington’s originally scheduled guest, Shelton Benjamin, emerged to defend himself against the badmouthing Ryder and Washington.

Benjamin challenged Ryder to prove he’s the more entertaining Superstar, so Washington decided he’d hold an impromptu “Abraham Idol” show. Ryder showed off his singing skills with Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You.” But as The Gold Standard belted out the same tune, Ryder attacked him from behind and said: “Now you’re singing the blues. Woo Woo Woo.” Benjamin rose to his feet and retaliated, flipping Ryder over the couch, turning “The Abraham Washington Show” into an all-out brawl.

Now that Benjamin has finally been a guest – and left a mark – on “The Abraham Washington Show,” will The Gold Standard be welcomed back again? What’s next for Benjamin and Ryder?

Ezekiel Jackson easily steamrolled through another local competitor this week on ECW on Syfy. But Vladimir Kozlov again appeared after Jackson’s match, staring down the seemingly unstoppable force. The Moscow Mauler picked up the local competitor and hit him with an Iron Curtain. Not to be outdone in the game of oneupsmanship, Jackson again leveled the local opponent, then exited the ring without looking back. When will these two Superstars finally clash in the Land of the Extreme?

In a repeat performance of last week’s match, ECW’s new Celtic Warrior bested The Bizarre One. After his win, the undefeated Sheamus told the WWE Universe: “I came in search of gold and all they gave me was dust,” which prompted Goldust to attack the Irishman. What’s next for these two ECW on Syfy rivals?

The mysterious masked man arrived just in time to rescue a backstage employee from danger again. But before ECW General Manager Tiffany could talk to him, the masked man disappeared as quickly as he appeared in the Land of the Extreme.

WWE star talks about returning early (SD spoilers)

Matt Hardy, who had abdominal surgery several weeks ago, posted the following on his Twitter page Monday night:

"NOTHING can stop a healthy Matt Hardy. In a month or so, I'll be damn near unstoppable."

As it turns out, Matt Hardy appeared at Tuesday night's Smackdown taping and here's what he had to say:

"Well guys and gals, looks like I might be going back to work a little earlier than I expected. But all is good in my life-it always is!"

According to Dave Meltzer, the decision to release Brian Kendrick was made two weeks ago after he was pulled from a planned program with Evan Bourne. Kendrick was told by WWE officials that his failing multiple drug tests for marijuana would not be tolerated. His marijuana use was likely a contributing factor to his release and he was one of at least two wrestlers who had their pushes stopped due to pot use. Kendrick’s release was also meant and taken as a warning for higher profile talents who have been failing pot tests.

However, when John Laurinaitis informed Kendrick he was being let go, the story was that it was because of the economy. Those who heard that story couldn’t believe they gave him such a lame and bogus reason for being fired. Kendrick was told that his release could have happened much sooner but agent Pat Patterson had spoken up for him.

The three-time Emmy Award winner, star of the hit HBO series Entourage and leading man in the upcoming comedy The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, Piven has always known how to wow an audience, and his first foray as Raw’s celebrity guest host at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort proved no exception.

During Piven's reign, WWE even unveiled a new feature: WWE e-Vote, which allows the WWE Universe to have their voices heard during the live Monday Night Raw broadcast. Check it out here!

John Cena def. The Miz in a Lumberjack Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Jeremy Piven and Dr. Ken Jeong may be hilarious actors, but they’re not much for facing down insidious Superstars who can easily put them in traction. Perhaps that’s why, after a confrontation with WWE Champion Randy Orton earlier, Piven chose to make all the lumberjacks in the night’s main event unfriendly faces for the 12 Rounds star. It was a treacherous situation for Cena, but for Miz, a loss meant he would be banned from SummerSlam as well as from Monday Night Raw.

You’ll forgive Cena for not caring. After a roller coaster of a match, Cena finally managed to pin Miz for the win. After he did, though, Orton & The Legacy got hold of him, pummeling him and leaving him prone on the mat. That’s when Piven and Dr. Ken got the crazy notion to make their marks, too.

Piven climbed the ropes to jump on Cena only to have the massive Superstar catch him in mid-air and use him as a human bludgeon to knock down several lumberjacks. Then Dr. Ken came after Cena with a cane. Big mistake. The former Champ tossed Dr. Ken over the ropes onto another group of lumberjacks. While the two Hollywood heavyweights did stellar work with guest hosting duties, it’s safe to say they should probably stick to their day jobs.

United States Champion Kofi Kingston def. Unified Tag Team Champion Big Show by disqualification (PHOTOS | WATCH)
When Chris Jericho sat down at commentary, things were bound to go wrong for United States Champion Kofi Kingston. As Jericho yapped away, Kingston battled Jericho’s tag team partner, the always formidable Big Show, for the United States Championship. As the match progressed, however, Show couldn’t help himself. The World's Largest Athlete relentlessly brutalized Kofi despite warnings from the referee, causing the 7-footer to get disqualified. Showing little regard for rules, referees or, frankly, anything but his own blind rage, Show continued to demolish the U.S. Champion long after the match had ended.

“Mark-swoggle” def. Chavo Guerrero (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After nagging Jeremy Piven earlier in the night, Chavo Guerrero got his wish – to fight Hornswoggle one-on-one. Hey, Chavo, be careful what you wish for. The self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” waited in the ring only to discover that, in the words of Piven, Hornswoggle wouldn’t be able to fight, but they had arranged for a substitute: “Mark-swoggle.” Unfortunately for Chavo, “Mark-swoggle” looked a lot like The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry, in a Hornswoggle cap. Once Chavo had been sufficiently pummeled, “Mark-swoggle” retrieved Hornswoggle from under the ring to administer a Tadpole Splash on the hapless Chavo.

Carlito def. Primo (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After weeks of bad blood between Carlito and his brother Primo, the two were destined to settle matters in the ring. With Carlito having attacked baby bro, even going so far as to spit an apple in his face, their sibling rivalry seemed inevitable. While the Boriqua Brothers put up a memorable fight, it was big bro Carlito who proved too tough to beat once he nailed the Backstabber for the win.

The Legacy def. Triple H in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Triple H has proven himself one of the most dominant forces in all WWE history. But even The Game can come up short when facing down two of WWE’s meteoric, young Superstars. After tiring of the interference from Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, Triple H hoped to take them both down in one fell swoop. Instead, The Legacy worked seamlessly to batter The Game, each hitting their most lethal moves before laying out their opponent for the victory.

Afterward, The Game wondered aloud if he needed to make a phone call to get a partner, then told Rhodes & DiBiase, "If you're not down with that, I've got two words for you!"

Beth Phoenix & Jillian def. Divas Champion Mickie James & Gail Kim (PHOTOS | WATCH)
Beth Phoenix showed just why she can never be forgotten when it comes to Diva dominance. The Glamazon teamed with Jillian to take on the newly minted Divas Champion Mickie James & Gail Kim. Phoenix displayed her considerable power by taking down the impressive Kim as Mickie looked on.

Piven arranged a title match between United States Champion Kofi Kingston and Big Show
As Raw celebrity guest host Jeremy Piven joked with Dr. Ken Jeong in his temporary office, an angry Big Show entered to complain about the coverage of his confrontation last week with Shaquille O’Neal. The World’s Largest Athlete wanted to redeem himself by facing Piven himself in the ring. The savvy actor, however, placated the mammoth monster by instead arranging a title match between Show and United States Champion Kofi Kingston.

Jack Swagger def. Evan Bourne (PHOTOS | WATCH)
After Evan Bourne defeated him last week in a “Beat the Clock” Match and cost him his opportunity to be No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship, Jack Swagger appeared revved to go in their rematch this week. “The All-American American” not only defeated the high-flyer, he tore into him after the ending bell. That is, until MVP stepped up to save Bourne and end Swagger’s senseless carnage.

Raw celebrity guest host Jeremy Piven arranged a Lumberjack Match between The Miz and John Cena (PHOTOS)
Piven and his associate, Dr. Ken Jeong, who also stars in The Goods and the comedy The Hangover, impressed the crowd at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort when they rolled into the arena in a blinging, blue Trans Am. As the two Hollywood heavyweights addressed the Raw faithful, Hollywood bantamweight The Miz interrupted. The self-centered Superstar asked – no, demanded! – that Piven arrange a rematch between him and John Cena, after his loss last week.

Cena, also a man who knows how to please a crowd, did not disappoint. He came to the ring to accept Miz’s challenge. And just to thicken the plot, Piven then announced that the bout would be a Lumberjack Match. Not only that, if Miz were to lose, he wouldn’t be allowed to compete at SummerSlam and would be banned from L.A.’s Staples Center. Oh, and it gets worse for the faux-hawked farce. If he drops the match to Cena, he’ll also be banned from Monday Night Raw.

BALTIMORE – Flying high since finally winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy came to SmackDown to celebrate with the WWE Universe (PHOTOS | VIDEO). But being at the top didn’t come without cost. Hardy found himself already defending his title against John Morrison, and suffering a vicious attack from former champion CM Punk.

Just days after defeating CM Punk to win the World Title (recap), Jeff Hardy put his gold on the line against fiery young Superstar John Morrison. In his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship match, Morrison put Hardy to the test in an epic back-and-forth battle for gold. But the high-flyer prevailed, crushing The Friday Night Delight with a Twist of Fate followed up with a Swanton Bomb.

CM Punk attacks Hardy
As Hardy basked in the glow of his first successful title defense, CM Punk came to the ring to apparently congratulate Hardy by raising his arm in victory. But then, in an ugly display of poor sportsmanship, The Straightedge Superstar viciously assaulted Hardy amidst a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. The crazed ex-champion reigned down blow upon blow on Hardy, leaving him battered and beaten on the arena floor. Then, just when it appeared Punk was done, he attacked Hardy again, tossing his helpless body across the announce table and onto the arena floor.

Cryme Tyme def. The Hart Dynasty (PHOTOS | VIDEO)
At stake, an opportunity to compete for the Unified Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam. Cryme Tyme came up big, getting a win over The Hart Dynasty when JTG dropped Tyson Kidd with a Shout Out. Now, the tag team from Brooklyn, N.Y., is poised to take on Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show in perhaps the biggest match of their career. (Match preview)

After losing to Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio at Night of Champions, Dolph Ziggler was looking to rebound in tag team action. Ziggler & Knox mounted a powerful offense, exhibiting control for most of the bout. However, just like at Night of Champions, the champion proved his superiority by getting the pinfall over the brash Ziggler.

Standing at 7-foot-3, The Great Khali dominated Charlie Haas. But before Khali could finish off his opponent, Khali’s nemesis, Kane, came into the arena and manhandled Khali’s translator, Ranjin Singh. It looked as if Kane was going to drag Singh out of the arena. However, the enraged Punjabi Giant was able to drive The Big Red Machine back up the ramp. As the tension continues to mount between these colossal forces, how much longer until things boil over?

Melina & Eve def. Women’s Champion Michelle McCool & Layla (PHOTOS)
After their encounter at Night of Champions (PHOTOS), Michelle McCool and Melina clashed again in tag team action. This time, Melina earned some revenge when she dropped the champion with a quick-striking Primal Scream to get the pinfall.

Details on Brian Kendrick's release from WWE

The latest victim of WWE's dreaded "future endeavors" announcement was The Brian Kendrick, and a PWInsider.com report sheds the first bit of light on the matter.

According to the report, Kendrick's release can largely be attributed to his backstage attitude and motivation as a performer. The internal feeling was that while Kendrick did what he was told, he carried a negative attitude and gave the impression that he did not deeply care about being there. WWE thus saw little potential for Kendrick to breakout as a valuable member of the roster and opted to sever its ties with the wrestler.

It remains to be seen if Kendrick's release is a compounded consequence of his behavior or if a specific incident brought WWE officials' concerns to a boil.

Sources are also quick to mention reports that Kendrick was one of WWE's most frequently-fined Superstars for marijuana use, although it is unclear if that played any role in his release--under the Wellness Policy, there is no punishment, beyond the fine, for using the drug.
