Op aanraden van Hans Otten schreef Natalia zich in voor het vtm-programma Idool 2003, waar ze de volgende ronde bereikte met het nummer Joyful, Joyful. Ze doorliep de volgende rondes in de zangtalentenwedstrijd en belandde samen met Peter Evrard in de finale. De kijkers verkozen Peter Evrard met een klein verschil aan punten tot winnaar. Ondanks haar tweede plaats kreeg ook Natalia een platencontract bij Sony BMG. Ze bracht enkele weken na de finale haar debuutsingle Without You uit in Vlaanderen en won hiermee in de zomer van 2003 de TOTZ-trofee Vervolgens trad ze zo'n honderd maal op voor publiek.
Later dat jaar was Natalia te gast bij Night of the Proms In oktober 2003 volgde een tweede single I've Only Begun To Fight. Deze soundtrack van de film Team Spirit 2 bezorgde de zangeres na enkele weken goud in de Vlaamse hitlijsten. De tweede single was tevens de voorbode van haar debuutalbum This Time, dat eind 2003 werd gelanceerd in België.
Tijdens de Disneyproms zong ze samen met Xander de Buisonjé een duet.
Ondanks haar grote passie voor muziek, volgde Natalia een opleiding vertaler-tolk Engels en Spaans. Ze beïndigde haar studie om zich volledig te richten op muziek. Ze sloot zich aan bij het groepje Secret Me Kort daarop nam ze een cd op en zong ze een duet met Danny Wuyts Ook trad ze geregeld op in het voorprogramma van Raymond van het Groenewoud
