We komen aan in Warrnambool, het einde van de Great Ocean Road. Het plan was hier een nachtje te blijven, maar het blijft veel te koud in het zuiden en we rijden ineens door naar Halls Gap in de Grampians (bergketen). Dat ligt 150 km noordelijker en daar is het hopelijk een beetje warmer. Op het laatste stuk van de GOR zien we nog meer grillig gevormde rotsen en steile kliffen

Zoals bij onze eerste reis in Australië, 21 jaar geleden, is ook nu de eerste kangoeroe die we in het wild zien een dode, slachtoffer van het verkeer

Er zijn hier dorpjes met een paar honderd inwoners. De dorpswinkel is dan ook multifunctioneel: je kan er tanken, de post is er gevestigd, je kan er iets gaan drinken, kranten kopen enz..

En 's avonds als we terugkomen van het restaurant zien we onze eerste levende kangoeroes. Ze zitten midden in het dorp op het grasveld van een restaurant (sorry voor de kwaliteit van de foto, 't was donker)

We arrive in Warrambool, the end of the Great Ocean Road. We had planned to stay here overnight, but it is still too cold and we decide to go to Halls Gap in the Grampian mountains, 150 km more north, hopefully it will be warmer up there. On the last part of the GOR we see more strange rocks and stiff cliffs. As during our first journey in Australia, 21 years ago, also now the first kangaroo that we see is a dead one, victim of a traffic accident.

There are small villages here with only a few hundred inhabitants. The local shop is multifunctional: you can buy petrol, it is also the post office, you can have a drink, buy a newspaper etc..

At night, coming back from the restaurant, we see our first living kangaroos: they are in the middle of the village on the lawn of a restaurant (sorry for the quality of the photo, it was dark)
