Shockvertising is a kind of advertising where shocking
images, words are used to wake people up and do something about it. It can be
used by brands of products but it’s mostly known with organizations, for
example WWF.
There is a lot of discussion whether shockvertising is a
good thing or a bad thing. Some people say it’s too shocking, others say this
is a good way to change the mindset of people about certain products or
activities. I can imagine that certain people are scared when these kind of
commercials are shown on the television. What if children see these scary
images? Well, personally I think that we underestimate the minds of children.
They understand what they see a lot more than we think they can.
I agree that they don’t have to show too shocking images,
for example dead people. But a good message can be given with shockvertisement,
so I don’t think at all that shockvertisement is a bad thing.
