It has been 3 months since I added something to my blog. A friend of mine reminded me of the fact I actually have a blog by sending me hers. I should be ashamed. Shocked

Apparently the last message I added was still about Sydney.

Meanwhile I live in Perth, which is all the other side of the country. Why? Fate I guess…….

Just when I started to like Sydney and just when I found my way in a huge city (met a very nice Scottish mate and found already a share house in New Town) I got a phone call from a friend of a friend of mine .. from … yes Perth. She asked me If I wanted to replace her as nanny while she was back home in Belgium for about 3 months. As I saw all the people around me struggling by finding a job and as she told me I would earn a lot of money, I grabbed the opportunity. But it had to be quick, very quick.

The day after I already booked my ticket and two days later I was already on the plane, straight to Perth. My initial plan: 3 months Perth, working working and working, then back to the East Coast. But fate had other plans with me..

The first 2 months I worked my ass of, yes, even as nanny you can work very hard!

The mum I worked for (dad lives in Melbourne) had to cope with a kind of project so she was nearly never home. I worked between 80 and 100h a week. Exhausting, but the good thing is, no time left to spend any money. So I saved, everything.

Afterwards, when I finally got some time, some free time, I realized that it was time for me to make some friends and to discover Perth. Via Couch surfing I started to talk with Khaye, a very nice Philippine girl. She’s here, visiting her boyfriend that she met in the Maldives, he’s from the UK.

I met up with her, and she invited me for dinner, this is how I met Khaye, Calum and Mike.

March 17, me and Khaye had a very nice BBQ at Scarborough Beach, we decided to put a message on couch surfing, and so we met Ashafie. That day she asked me to go for a drink at the Vic (Subiaco), Calum, her boyfriend works over there. And so we finally arrived to the most exciting moment, here I met Zac, he works at the Vic as well. (He became my boyfriend, that’s how things go in life…)

After organizing a huge bbq at Cottesloe (where we unfortunately couldn’t find any bbq’s, so we drove over to City Beach) we met some new amazing peeps, like Marie (also nanny, same suburb), as she lives very close we meet up quite often.

So that’s where we are now: The first weeks I lived with the family, but very soon I realized that I wanted my own spot, so I moved out and found a cute house at City Beach.

I share my house with a Chinese couple (they study over here) and an Aussie girl, Anna, she used to live in Margaret River, but she work(ed) (firedJ) at Scarborough, that’s why…And also, last week my boyfriend moved in, which is going all good and which makes me very happy.Very Happy

Besides all this good news, I bought a car, a Ford Festiva, pretty old rusty car but that’s all right. Had some things to fix, cost me $424, which is still all good, eventually the car cost me 2 grand.

At the moment (the moment I write this) I quit the job as nanny (Kelly is back), I found another job in a hamburger restaurant nearby, same suburb as my previous job. And also, I found another family, where I can look after the children 2 days (sometimes 3) a week. I start next week. Exciting….

My experience about the nanny thing ? Totally different then I had in mind. It’s fricken tough to handle kids, especially when they are spoiled and arrogant. Names: Georgia (2y) Lachlan (4y) and Madeline (9y).

I was very glad Kelly came back. My wallet is crying though…..Cool

So… yeh… here we are… Perth, still Perth, and I’m not planning to leave soon.

So what about Perth? Perth is a typical “family-city” the place to be to raise your kids. Plenty of playgrounds, worlds of nature, heaps of beaches. Also, Perth is the most sunniest city of Australia. Sometimes far to quiet , but that’s all right. I feel home in Perth. That’s what count.

To do list : We are about to go for a road trip (Juin 6th) , all the way to Broome, by car, together with some other peeps we met, they are meant to stay there, they actually really ‘move’ to Broome, I (and Zac if he’s able to joins us) are coming back by plane. Hope everything’s going well, so I can write an awesome part two, about Broome then. See you guys. Wink
