Saan's li'll sis had her big day today. In short, Saan got up waaaayyy too early and hasn't had a moment to herself in the following thirteen hours or so. Her throat hurts, all family's left and her head hurts. She's even more tired than last night and still she's filling out her blog first thing, because she knows she'll forget if she doesn't do it now.
For once, Saan didn't overeat. And she didn't stain anything. She did get three rubber ducks on keychains out of it, with all candy still attatched. She did a few things with poi in front of family, and had fun doing it. She also nearly fell asleep over her barbecue, so she's just going to feed TheSeals and go to sleep, since her free day once more completely slipped through her fingers.
Note: it's late and Saan's wonky spelling shows it.
Saan's back from Ypres, and she's aching because of her *expletetive deleted* backpack and stiff walking shoes. She filled out all her questions and made several useful discoveries for later in life.
Such as there are: -In an open field, you've got several 'on your right's -'Known Unto God' and 'Their Glory Shall Not Be Blotted Out' are not the sort of sweet nothings a family puts at the bottom of a gravestone. It's Kipling. -There's a subtle difference between an oak and a poplar. Especially if there's several dozens of miles between the oak and the poplar, and you're looking for the wrong nationality for the graveyard. -There are two British soldiers buried in the German Langemark cemete-cemetar-cemre-ceme-graveyard. Other way round: there are several German soldiers buried in several British War Commision graveyards. -The only good thing to come of the first World War are gas masks and several job opportunities in the War Graves Commision, the Poppy-Club-Thingy-With-A-Name-Saan-Forgot and the Belgian West-Flanders' war tourism economy. -Ypres needs more good, cheap eating locations. And ice parlors. -Talbot House has several nicely chosen witticisms on the walls, and has a side-function as a short-term hostel-like thingy. -Nine million people died in the WOI, for practically nothing. -That the first world war broke out is a disgrace, as is the outbreak of the second. War's a vile, hideous thing that brings out the worst in people because they think it's for the best, when it's only for the selfish pride of a nation. War has never solved anything. The only thing it's done, is bring the boy next door to his death at age fifteen, and have what little remains to be buried in a grave with no name, and never have his parents know if he was still alive.
Tomorrow, Saan's gone off to Ypres, without a camera, because people yell at her if she does. She's taken one big book and two baby-books, pen and paper on top of what she had to take. She spent her entire day making schoolwork (and now is officially done until Wednesday afternoon) and looking like crazy for her letter with everything she needed for Ypres. In the end, she just called St. Fi and asked what she needed to bring. She lost several hours to one round of Kou-jong on neopets. Now all she's got to do is shower, get some water for tomorrow, get her mom's stuff and go to sleep.
I want to run through the halls of my high school--I want to scream at the top of my lungs
The end of the schoolyear's supposed to be wonky, and get wonkier each year, but Saan's schooldiary's gotten way out of hand. Her homework's nearly finished (just some extra chem homework and a paper for Latin), but Saan's still got the feeling that everything is starting to grow over her head. Ypres, family party, Wednesday with PE. No choices for Saan.
She had to go look for shoes and didn't find any, because they all were too big, too narrow, both, ugly or too uncomfortable. And Saan doubts there's still more time to find a pair of silver Crocs, Mary Jane style. (To placate Yif: less chunky, less holes, more skin showing) She does have an outfit for the party, with the necklace she saw last week, but didn't buy, and then got today.
Saan doesn't ever want to go shopping again when she's having her period. A top that barely fit halfway the month suddenly is a perfect fit. That little bloaty thing successfully tore down more of her self-confidence that changing rooms and neon lighting usually manage.
Her toe is starting to heal, according to her dad, so there's some good news too.
Family barbecue happened tonight, which means Saan's entire body is on the edge. She's practically shaking behind the pc, and everyone's left already. God save her for Tuesday. And pray for good weather while you're at it, so she can wear her sandals instead of the yucky white shoes.
Saan's not-finished homework from last night almost didn't get finished. It started when Saan nearly was late for school (2 minutes or so to spare) and so ended up still scrambling around her locker for her books when the bell rang. Because she had clean-up duty for history, she lost half her recess to getting rid of the paper waste. She did manage a rough outline for her missed homework. Luckily, the chemistry teacher let everyone go earlier than normal, after failing Saan for the second time this year, and giving extra excercises. Everyone had bad results for the test. She went to the park, finished her missed homework, got a comic book she had to pick up and came into the school with enough time left to use the toilet and finish reading the comic.
More trouble came this evening, when studying for Dutch took longer than expected (Saan still isn't so very confident about it) and she ended up finishing around half past nine. Maths gave her enough problems for 20 minutes of suffering, but Latin ent fairly smoothly.
So for once today's post is short because Saan really didn't have time for anything more. But at least she pinned the homework monster at last.
Saan has, for once, finished all her homework (except for the parts she couldn't do) before nine pm. She's now hunting for NP on neopets while she waits until the fish tank's filled again before taking her shower. Neopets is being just strange, and Saan's pc isn't very keen on this kind of strange. The webpages load at a snail's pace, while all other things run smooth as can be. The web pages stop responding at odd moments. And then it acts semi-normally, before playing a bit with the speed of the connection.
And Saan is, on top of all the unusuality, freaking herself out by typing blind, unless she notices.
Saan's just back from the beauty parlor (okay, lie, she's just back from her two minutes of Latin translation, but before that, she was just back from the beauty parlor) from getting waxed. Not head to toe, but her two (...or is it four? ) most bothery bits. Apparently, she bled. She didn't quite notice it, but it's starting now her body's no longer under siege and is slowly returning to its habitual functions, like sweating. Her legs, however are smooth as can be, and this time probably without three days of sticky legs or at the cost of two inches of scar tissue. Hurrah for paid selective hygienical care.
The only uncertain bit is if Saan's allergic to the lotion the nice lady used. Saan should probably have pointed out dermatological allergies at some point before the woman started smearing three different kinds of *stuff* on her. So far, no insane urges to scratch the skin of her bones, so it's probably safe. Professionals usually get access to all the stuff that works properly, smells good and doesn't make you turn twenty shades of red. Mere mortals have to make do with one or two of those options.
Another thing Saan discovered when she was staring down her legs with her mom and the lady was that her un-operated toenail's grown in and gotten itself infected. This time, it's broken habit and gone to the inside of her toe. Saan doesn't feel anything much of it.
Now all she has to do is put on her long skirt and loooooove the feel of it on her legs.
Saan's looking to the future, in a small way. She's bought a small notepad and is now working off the ugly and irregular TROLLZ lines with leftover pictures, quotes and comics from her schoolbook-project, and halves of empty pages, of different kinds of paper and lining. So now she has a scrapbook-like contraption, in which she can doodle, read, watch and try to be funny when a teacher gets sick. The only real reason she's on her pc now is to print out a few more un-colored chibis in carbon copy format to paste alongside the empty pages.
Kine today proclaimed Saan ready for a whole two week gap in her therapy, meaning that if she's as good as today or better by then, it'll be the last session.
This week is gonna be busy busy busy. And next week has her little sister's party and a whole day of Ypres to look forward to, with the Ypres-day (day before the party) ending at 22.15 because of the Last Post. Saan, the zombie, might be called from its mental grave.
And the week after, the litter of puppies from which Saan might get one is scheduled to be born.
Saan's spent her day living through the physical hangover from yesterday. She was tired, not in the mood for anything much, hadn't had any homework really done and the headache haunting her since Thursday morning was back with a vengeance after she spent her morning clothes shopping. Two and a half hours of fitting clothes without finding anything. The rest of the day was spent on Latin and chemistry, with the attention span of a goldfish on crack. And now Saan's mom's flipping about something or the other, and it's driving Saan up the walls.
And then there's always Monday to look forward to.
Saan's ended her Maks!-day with loot. One nicked, humongous balloon, with Maks!-logo (which was kindly donated to the Salivating Sister Fund later in the day). One pimp'd Maks!-tote bag. Seven badges. Several paper bits. This month's Maks!. Several given free hugs. One Cécémel Frappé bandana.
Saan's most memorable fun bits: -playing with (one) fire poi. It makes a spiffy noise, as long as there's fire. A lot heavier than her own poi, less control than the tail poi, though more than the tui or LED poi. -spending ninety minutes watching things get pimp'd. -making Tah PiTERMINATOR put on Yif's pimp'd white skirt (think lips. Lots of red lips) and then steal his trousers. And watch him go on stage for one hundred people. It'll teach men to volunteer to do something, but make a woman arrange everything. It's emancipated revenge. Or petty teenage pranks. Same difference. -hugging two kids. (The T-shirt will definitely return. Definit'ly.)
Then Saan got home. She redecorated her desk bookshelf with nearly all badges and some other things from the loot. And amused her sister for fifteen minutes with a one minute song. When that failed, she made up 'The Secret Undercover Life of Mom's Left Sleepy-Sock'. So far, it's a psychotic, singing creature that humps its boyfriend, the blue alarm clock, eats bandanas and murders all other socks.
Saan's already did (part of) her homework on a Friday night, which can only mean one thing: the project pi gang is up to no good!
Tomorrow, they will make Leuven and all it's suburbs (okay, so part of the center, really) unsafe for all logically-inclined folk on the annual 'WEG MET MAKS!'-day. Saan's 'Free Hugs!!'-T-shirt is only slightly defective in positioning on the hugs and design of the R, but it's clearly legible. She still needs a bit of money for the train and all mischief to be made in a rather popular city, but she'll probably get that tomorrow morning. She's inscribed, she told the Pi-sters that she would be coming (sort of last, last, last minute, but hey). Miss H will be playing a bit of hooky in her Chinese class to not miss out on all the fun and bring her own 'Free Hugs'-T-shirt. Yif is coming with Saan. Saan has freshly showered away her school-week-smell. Batteries for the camera are loading. Ready... Set... *A-Team Intro*.
Sun's broken through the morning chill today, and kept Saan toasy warm all day through. Relatively easy day, though she's still vacation-tired and has a test tomorrow. Passed the 250K border on neopets yesterday. Went shopping for clothes, which was its usual hell, but at least she's got a few new things.
Saan's just finished her chem-assignment and is sitting semi-socially in the living room for the goobye-drink of the next-door-neighbours (in the house of the ones who moved to France), who are moving to South-Africa. A less confident person would feel a bit insecure with half the known neighbourhood either moves out or develops...sudden death, life-troubling ailments. It's gonna be lonely with the big empty house next door. Hopefully, the next people who hire it talk to Saan, unlike the first neighbours and very much like the current ones. Hopefully, the next ones still like the cats. And don't have troubles with puppies or dogs.
She finished her first real homework-evening of the day and will start looking for her PE clothes after the visitors leave.
She still needs to clean up her behemoth of a binder with her first term of notes in it, and her chem notes.
The possible puppy has just gained a little more substance in possiblity. Saan's mom paid an international call to the Dutch breeder, who was very helpful and already informed of the number of pups expected. It's likely that one of them will end up in Belgium, in Saan's household. Pup's are expected around early to mid-May. Four weeks later, Saan's neck-deep in exams, and the first visit is allowed. In the mean while, Saan's family can e-mail all their questions to the breeder. ... *miniscule happy dance on Saan's part*
Saan is a'huntin' English cocker spaniel pups (preferably to be born in late august this year) once more. The downside of it is that she lost track of time enough to forget she still has to pack her bag and fill in her blog. So far, she's had two results, one of which is a possible (note that word) pup at a reasonable distance, and the other is located in Ukrain, and thus a wee bit too far to be healthy for the critter. The main problems are: 1) the time limit, 2) the specific color, needed to ensure all peace in the Saan residence and 3) the fact that you can't, as a responsible owner, shove a pup in a car with unruly AC for hours on end. So no Ukrainian puppies for Saan. Hopefully a Dutch one. Fingers crossed for that, or a new strike of luck.
So Saan did finish feeding in all her translations, but she didn't print any homework, nor did she scan any Geo-notes. The printer-scanner-fax-copy-machine wouldn't work. Her brother had pulled the plug conntecting it to the network, and Saan couldn't find the right sequence of plugging to get everything right. But he's back now, so that's solved. She just has to scan her stuff. And ask him about the virus-but-not-seen-as-such thingy on her scanner.
The wireless network was also being difficult today, so Saan just messed around some on neopets and then gave up on trying to revive the conntection. Apologies to all who received a rather harsh goodbye on msn because of it. Which meant she spent most of her pc-time doing pokémon emerald tricks, and still not reaching level 30 with all her critters. She has gotten nearly all of them at level 24 now, and will try not to give up on the big 3-O by 25.
And she'll stop here, just in case the connection decides to drop out on her again, in the middle of sending the post.
Original, premade message: There was no message on the 13th of April 2007 because Saan's still in France. And she's really coming back today, or she's gonna cry.
Edit: Saan's been back since late last night and is now back home. Today she is making homework, rearranging her schoolbooks and notes, adding empty pages to binders and drilling holes in papers that need it. And typing out her Latin translations, and scanning her geography notes for G., who needs them (how you can lose two terms of notes in one small locker is something Saan doesn't want to know.) and will probably start doodling on Saan's if she keeps them back that much longer. But it's not her fault if Saan has this miniscule illegible scrawl when writing with her GIMP'D pen. Which sounds cooler than 'the biro filling with some strings woven around it'.
She's just put herself up for a bit of fun, Saturday next week, and people who care about the event will understand what she's saying.
And if there's some time left, she'll turn back to her Pokémon simulator thingy, because her virus scanner is giving wonky messages, and her brother won't be back until tomorrow.
