Saan's just had a totally FUBAR day today, but she managed to post anyway.
Trouble started around a quarter to nine when Saan was mainly in pain if she so much as breathed wrong. Gym helped that, but she sucked at badminton (19-1 warming up and three lost games). When she got back to school she was back to feeling sick. At home, it didn't much help. She got lunch, which didn't totally agree with her, and then went to sleep. She got woken up three times, and when she got out she was feeling hot enough to puke. She spent the next few hours drinking water and her dinner consisted of yoghurt with bananas, even though she wanted oranges for some flavor. Just to spite her, dinner didn't agree with Saan and went on to make her life miserable until she was sitting in a church with 15°C. Then, things nothing bodily bothered her until about an hour ago. She did have completely unknown relatives putting her a grade higher or lower, calling her Do or confusing her with her brother. Now she's back at home, feeling sick and having cramps. Anyone who had a worse day, do tell. Misery loves company.
Anyone who *really and punctually* checked (If someone does, please tell) noticed Saan didn't post last night.
A few reasons could be...
The fact that she was worrying about the fact that her gift for Yif might still be late, after disappointing her to begin with not getting the hat (eek!). Anyone who wants to put a smile on Yif's face, her birthday's the twenty-third and she wants the 'Naruto Sleeping Cap' from GE Animation. Mail it to the Sint-Jozefscollege in Aarschot and put Yif's real name and her class in the address, and it should get a warm and loving home with two cats to scare and someone who adores it beyond reason..
Or perhaps because she was dead tired from a full school day after two luxurious weeks of doing absolutely nothing as intensive as studying seriously.
Or she might have been freaking out because her brother and father ate all her birthday treats and now she didn't have enough Leo's to go round.
She could also say she was helping her mom make vanilla pudding and doing the dishes.
However, the real reason is that she was lying in her bed, choking with laughter because she'd gotten started in Merde, Actually (by Stephen Clarke and she hasn't got the one with the courgettes), a book she'd found in Brussels last week and bought on a whim. So far, she's learned two new swearwords in French, the three different meanings of créver and why you should not make a gendarme 'put both his hands on his dick and promise', though in the indended sentence, 'coeur' had its R attatched. She also discovered what 'un zizi' meant (it's not the snack version of the cheese, apparently) . She's currently toying with the idea of going to southern France to find out if there really is a village called Ars (Pronounce the way any Frenchmen or Brit would: 'arse') and waiting for strawberries to come into season to try and make juice out of them. So far, she's remembered more French than she remembered in the past year. Which proves that if she doesn't really *have to* and there's a little chauvinism and humor and fun in the whole mix, Saan *can* learn French.
The book that preceded this one (A Year in the Merde) is currently gleaming high and mighty on her wish list, along with any book by Terry Pratchett that has 'discworld' in its title, subtitle or the suspicious line in the corner.
Moving on. The reason she didn't think to fill in the blog while still on her pc (and not reminding herself she has to go to the doctors one of the closely following Fridays for a new prescription for the pill) was because she was still typing at the horrifying, non-mary sue fanfic that's currently labeled as 'Cass'. If it's ever finished, she'll think of a title. At the moment, it's gone so far beyond Saan's control and mutated into makeup and glittery angel wings and a terrorist attack and sushi with a little blonde dude endearingly called Cass by his boyfriend and his boyfriend's male friends, without getting a mass orgy as result. Anyone who has never met Saan in the flesh probably didn't see it coming, the same way Saan totally missed it while typing along on the pc. ... Looks like she's doing it again today, as she told herself she'd finish today's post under two minutes... About twenty minutes--no, wait, thirty minutes ago. She did sort of forget the fact that she had to correct her Latin paper (meh, she's got two more days) and that she's got church tomorrow night (which will be the standing excuse if she's not posting).
She's a wee bit miffy about the fact that her Mrs. The One Who Teaches Us French sort of forgot to pick up her class yesterday afternoon, then picked the up the next morning like she should, sent Saan to the open student centre three times for a laptop because the school won't fix the DVD player or replace it by something that plays more than one type of apparently mega-rare disc. And then remembered Saan needed extra exercises on her French verbs (really, really, really needed extra exercises on her French verbs) and gave them to her at the end of class, when Saan had to pack her books, not crinkle the excercises, give her diary for a note, get her diary back, return the second laptop to the OSC and then still be in time for RE. Strangely enough, Mrs. French knows Saan's class well enough to know that Saan has about four times the speed of her classmates. Saan (who failed PE more than nine years in a row because she can only run fifty yards and then starts to show symptoms of rapidly progressing suffocation) caught up with them and still was amongst the first in the classroom. Meaning that her classmates and the class they're merged with are one slooooow bunch.
And now she's off to the bathroom to find the pink blister of girl-pills that--apart from preventing pregnancy--should keep Saan's monthly agony down to a minimum (and even then it hurts like a bitch). Then she'll pack her bag, take her book and read until someone tells her to stop. Hope you enjoyed today's longer post!
End of the holiday's near. Saan's homework's finished. She'll probably clean up her desk and stuff tomorrow. She typed up a weird little something today, and because she wants to see where it'll go, she's not giving today a decent post. Also, she changed the scrolling text in the left corner of the screen. Do tell if you're as bothered with it as she is now.
First of all: Philou: it's not that expensive to make Saan happy, because Saan'll probably last a few months on what she did Wednesday. 50 euros for, say two to three months of Happy Saan. Internet connections cost more.
Then, what did Saan do today? -Nothing highly illegal (Very important) -She went clothes shopping and now has a bit of clothing to wear (Price tag: enough to make Mr. Credit Card whimper) -She re-enacted her family (almost, anyway) on the Sims 2 and gave herself a dog. -She sought out (and ordered) birthday gifts for herself, Yif and Elly. -She did not receive permission to buy Yif's Naruto Sleeping Cap, so she bought her manga instead. -She worked out a points plan to determine which manga to buy Yif -She finished all her homework -She yelled at her brother and dad for eating her birthday treats for her class. -She realised her birthday's next week Friday (She'll be seventeen) -She realised that she had to think of the fact that Yif's birthday's also close by when ordering things. -She was very sorry for not being able to get Yif's hat. -She was pissed because this week's Comedy Casino is a re-run... of last week.
Yif! Okay, so she dropped by because she called to ask if Saan had received her text message (which she hadn't because her cell phone was switched off) and wanted to go see a movie (which they didn't because Saan doesn't like horror movies and there wasn't much else available in the cinema) and then dropped by because PSP would do what Saan wanted it to do. It's clear now that the program, other than being hatefully slow, has a personal grudge again Saan: it did what it wouldn't do for Saan for Yif (So, thanks to Yif, Saan now has a pretty picture to put on her paper for Latin. *Thank-you-kiss for Yif*). They had pizza, abused The Sims 2 for a while, and Yif doodled some. For a result, see the pic.
Twenty easy steps to make Saan happy (Or: 'Saan's Day')
Step one: Give into her whining Step two: Do not mind that she got up late Step three: Drive to the centre of Brussels on the first day of the winter sales at eleven in the morning. Step four: Park on the Munt/Monnaie underground parking (Because Belgium can be bitchy about wrongly parked cars). Step five: Cross the street to Sterling Books Step six: Wait thirty minutes, up to two hours. Step seven: Pay. Step eight: Return to car, dump books, return to ground above. Step nine: Suffer through gigantic masses of people in the City2 mall to reach the top floor: Fnac. Step ten: Loose Saan. Step eleven: Find Saan sitting on the ground inbetween the racks marked 'English Fantasy'. Step twelve: Pay. Step thirteen: Suffer through gigantic masses of people in the City2 mall to reach ground level again, whilst finding out several times that Saan was held up at several places in the Innovation because she saw something shiny. Step fourteen: Drag Saan back to the elevator. Step fifteen: Remember you have to pay for the parking. Step sixteen: Pay, turn around, realise that you lost Saan. Step seventeen: Find Saan (who does not really speak French) at the counter of the ice cream shop, placing an order to the French-speaking man behind it (who sort of, but not quite understands Dutch). Step eighteen: Wait until Saan has paid for her ice cream. Step nineteen: Return to the car, drive home. Step twenty: Let Saan skip on having to go clothes shopping.
Which was pretty much what Saan did today, with her dad. The rest of the day she spent reading (not in the...erm... eight? new books she bought though: it was schoolwork. Sort of. Really.) and going out for dinner with her parents. She got a hippo-plushie on a keyring from the restaurant. Her sister got a flashlight. Then she came home and did her chemistry homework. And that brings us pretty much to the now.
Today, Saan, innocent and optimistic as she is, decided to start on her homework. A quick peek in her diary told her she had three things (she could squash it onto four tiny lines) to do before Monday. Couldn't be much. So, Saan sends her brother to the library for a thriller, opens her Saint Seiya fansubs and starts on her Latin project, which technically had to be finished last. That was at two in the afternoon. The lay-out of the actual work, the contents and the sources are done. Nearly eight hours of work with two breaks (to explain the art of Rush Hour to her brother and to grab an apple because she got hungry). Now, all she has to do is make a front page. She is mentally preparing for physically beating PSP into submission and delivering something nifty... tomorrow. If she finishes on time, she'll probably start on her chemistry homework (which will include some MS excel wrestling) and then her Dutch homework (which she has no idea on how to begin after finishing the book). She's not sticking dates to it because she has proven once again that she has no idea on how long she'll take. The good part is that Saan discovered all negative thoughts on your own self mysteriously disappear when you're working like crazy. The 'OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS FUCKING THING JUST WON'T TAKE SHAPE!!!'-thought set on loop in your head sort of outscreams all the other negative stuff. But it took shape and now all it needs is a nifty picture up front and a binder-thingy to put it in. She's going to grab a sandwich for dinner now and relax some in the hopes of feeling her butt before morning.
Important (read: 'relevant') news: It's 2007!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Happy news: Saan got money ($-$'Ka-ching!') (Oooh, sort of drawing!) and Saturday People is BACK!!!! (Those who care will understand. All hail Mikata.) Also, all the important holidays are on break. Next important holidays are Saan's birthday (12th Jan.), Yif's birthday (23rd Jan.) and Elly's birthday (Valentine's day). Send cake, gifts, balloons and e-cards to those people, because they all deserve it. (The last two probably more than Saan, because they put up with Saan, which is a work and half all on its own.) Saan also posted a fic on MM.org. A virtual cookie for the one who finds it and is not Elly or Yif (because Saan is buying them birthday gifts already). Saan will be very upset if either one (or both) spoil the Mystery. (Oooh, caps!)
Unhappy news: Saan's school break is more than halfway over. Saan's shoulders, arms and back are VERY unhappy with her for some reason. Her dad won't take her to Brussels tomorrow to squander the day away in Sterling Books and Fnac(And she's got 25 euros to spend there, too). Saan forgot to ask Do for a book she needed for school and now Saan's lightly panicking. Saan's manga are almost over. Next volume won't be out until the 31th (Oi! Elly! Guess where your gift will be coming from, then!). Then there's a load of homework lurking around the corner. Saan couldn't take her LED poi to the new years party. This post is another short one, although Saan wants to write something longer. (Fic was 36 pages. These things seem to get only shorter. Yikes!) Oh, and her tummy hurts.
(Anyone noticed how many things are between brackets in this post?)
Saan is very unhappy that it'll be Monday tomorrow. Mainly because then already half of her school holiday will be gone but also because that means she'll have to start on her homework. Oh, and because she'll probably get dragged to some clothing stores as well. And because it's a family day tomorrow, putting her in a mass of screaming kids for an entire day.
But a happy 2007 and good health to all who want to have some fun in the new year!
The reason why Saan doesn't totally suck at neopets is...
Mainly, help-websites. So, at the moment, she has several windows open. They are as follows: www.pinkpt.com (and the link to the in-depth battlepedia) www.cnwcentral.com/neopets/ (very good walkthrough of faerie caves II) www.jellyneo.net (Saan <3 the money guide) http://www.nothingbutneopets.com/ (which helped her with the neohtml though the game help isn't all that sucky either)
And that's pretty much why there isn't a good post today. Sorry! The icy snowflake-hole is almost closed! (And Saan needs to start on her New Years Letter)
A little breather inbetween holidays today. No birthdays to be celebrated, guests to receive, parties to be dragged to, gifts to buy. Tomorrow, Saan's mom is going back to help Saan's uncle in his bakery. And probably buying a gift for Saan's cousin, too. So Saan's using the opportunity to enjoy her last few days without homework and not making a proper post today.
It's almost a surreal feeling, seeing as the French neighbours (Well, Belgian neighbours who are living in France and renting out the house here) are here with their kids (two girls with the kind of... presence that usually requires more people). Saan has a teenie-weenie (read: 'die-hard, burning') grudge against Mr. Neighbour ever since he threw her into their outdoor swimming pool over summer. With Saan still in her pajamas. In the morning. Saan doesn't like pools. At all. Childhood trauma of sorts. She ran around for half a day with her nose feeling like someone had put a torch to her noise and had to shower again, something she'd done the night before. Eight hours of being clean seemed like a waste. Needless to say, Saan did not appreciate the notion.
Also, their presence reminds Saan that a) her parents were unhappy with a test on French during the first term, on the irregular French verbs b) that same test caused the threat of a language-holiday someday. Saan gets homesick. And paranoid.
On to Saan's digital adventures of the day: yesterday she managed to rejoice over the fact that the prices on a rare item dropped tremendously and she could afford an icy snowflake. Today, her trade was accepted. Meaning she got the uber-cute avatar 'let it snow'. And she wrote some fanfic-y goodness (Well, she enjoyed writing it. Calling good might be exaggerating. She did look a few things up for it, though, so it can't be called entirely inaccurate.), too. And listened to 'Moi... Lolita' by Alizée. The entire day.
Moving on: Saan's bro celebrated his twentieth birthday today. There was cake, there were cookies, there were chocolates and there were fries. Oh, and lemonade. Saan's tummy isn't very happy with her now. She spilled ketchup on her nightie, but it didn't stain. She's been bouncing around in nightie and jeans the entire day.
Clearing a few misunderstandings (and affirming a few suspicions) this post might have caused: Saan- -Doesn't dislike the kids. Really. They're funny. -Did not nearly drown when she was little; she's just always been a sucky swimmer. -Isn't the best at French. -Does not like going on holidays. -Isn't addicted to her pc. She just has little else to do during vacations. -Is not a test tube baby. -Does not have a mom who had her first kid before finishing schools -Often gets an upset stomach lately.
Today, Saan did not: -Do any homework. -Finish re-watching the episodes of Saint Seiya Hades Inferno she needs to see for her Latin thingy
She did: -Eat potato chips, cereal and an apple. -Reply to Philou's blog -Watch Sailor Moon and some amvs -Read in her manga -Check to see if there were any comments in the past that she'd missed (Philou: movie was 'les choristes' and is up there with Saan's favorites like '10 things I hate about you' and 'real genius'. Stienie: scarf's gonna be tiny... And hole-y, too.) -Stay home with her brother -Put on clean underwear -Fill in her blog way, way too late, which is why there's so little in it. Sorry!
First of all, Saan would like to announce that she isn't bipolar. Having said that, she'd like to shout off of the nearest high building that she's outrageously, deliriously happy today!
First of all--despite the fact that this feat was achieved at the ungodly hour of twenty to ten in the morning during a holiday-day--Mr. Postman-man decided to drop by for a spell today with a package for Saan! Meaning Saan got her belated Christmas gift! Two of the seven manga volumes have already been read out. Maybe a self-help group is in order.
Secondly, she did not get vomitingly sick today. Probably because she went from starter to soup to dessert, skipping the greasiest meal. On the downside, now she's hungry. But hungry's better than hanging with your head over the toilet bowl, so she's not complaining.
Another bright spot is that Do was attending the joyful family gathering today. She and Saan decided she'll be fleeing to France next year to avoid another eight hours of family activity for one meal.
And, to add to Saan's enjoyment, Mr. Mean Snowager did not blast TheSeals for once, but gave a book instead of a worthless snowball.
As icing on the cake, there's the fact that Saan might have actually wrote more than usual today!
Her pc's still being fussy about the network and internet connection because the living room's still a disaster area and Saan's still locked up in her room with her pc. There's also a picture of Saan with her new hair cut after the considerable improval of removing all fancy details added by the hairdresser, but with the hair parted wrong (though that's now remedied), so she'll keep that one for when she's truly uninspired.
And now she's going to defy fate (and most medical advice) and take some medication with strawberry flavored kiddy champagne instead of water. See you guys tomorrow!
Saan's royally pissed because half her faimly--big family--has come over for Christmas. Making her mom freak out all day, send Saan to her room, where her pc has the most trouble receiving the internet and network. The heating in her room's also crappy because her sis' room steals all the heat first. But she's nevertheless fled to it after the main course to avoid witnessing how drunk adults ca nreally get. Now she's reading in her room, where her youngest attending cousin has joined her. The kid's reading all Saan's children's books and staring in fascination at Saan's new flipover clock (Thanks, Yif!!) while Saan burrows under the duvet and rereads Danse Macabre. Hope there's a little more Christmas cheer (and central heating) to be had wherever you guys are. Saan's real family Christmas party doesn't start until tomorrow and her last gift should arrive by then also. See you guys then!
Okay, so technically it's not evening yet. Saan won't get a gift from her parents because snail mail is too slow. Which means she's got two gifts from her friends, and maybe another by Tuesday. Her sister, who's managed to get naughty before lunch, got kicked off the pc for the rest of the day and nicked Saan's knitting when she couldn't stare at Saan surfing the net. Her own knitting had a fault, and Saan's ruined anyway, so Eve can't get it much worse. Her dad's enjoying his new Corrs cd, which he technically wasn't allowed to buy, but gave Saan money for yesterday, when she went shopping with Yif. Her brother's spending his day helping a friend with his computer homework and Saan's mom has just returned from a night of helping Saan's uncle in the bakery and has brought a truckload of goodies that didn't get sold. No cherry pie, though. Maybe this thing'll get an edit later to tell what was in Saan's gifts.
ps: Saan's passed the 100,000 neopoints mark. She's decided that if she does get a muahahaha-avatar, she'll spend the money on a priate paint brush for TheSeals.
Saan sort of ran out of time to post anything by the time she realised she had to go to bed. She's got a headache, her eyes feel all hot and she's starting to get used to the new face in the mirror. Check back tomorrow, peeps!
