Muhammad Asad (the link above is for the Hardcover, which is in red color, no transscription included - Dec 2003)
great translation with interesting comments, the black picture actually is from the 6-part paperback version that comes in a beautiful cardboard box and that offers a great transscription = how to read the arabic ... ideal for language lovers. If you are looking for this paperback version (see page scan on Asad's page) and cannot find it, contact me. I'll help you if I can - Astrolabe had it in stock the last time I checked. Be very sure to see "6 volume" set specified, otherwise you'll miss the great transscription ... see a scan on this page)
this writer is sooo good at analyzing the mindset of the prophet called to voice out islam - very original psychological view into what it means to be inspired
really heartwarming story of an atheist who suddenly felt himself drawn to islam, and how he ended up finding his own (re)solutions to questions nobody was able to solve for him - a great example and inspiration for whoever feels that push to find his or her own way, in no matter what field of life
for muslims and non muslims : how asking questions is the first step in getting to healing answers and personal growth
Losing My Religion: A Call For Help Jeffrey Lang (Paperback - Sep 1, 2004) also very good, the thickest of the 3 book I show here from this author, helps resolve a lot of issues as well, is composed of e-mail answers the author gave to muslims who felt so lost in the present society's multitude of pressures and directives, that the actually had the idea to contact this new enthousiast convert to enquire how he had handled his uncertainties
Fiqh-U-Seerah (Revised Second Edition) Understanding the Life of the Prophet Muhammad ( sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam) Shaykh Muhammad al-Ghazali (A Recent Egyptian Scholar) - Hardback 514 Pages gives us a great insight into the personality of Islam's prophet, how his being called surprised and affected him, changed his life completely, plus gives us a lot of handles on how to deal with our own questions and how to find a way to apply his style of dedication into our own lives - very poignant writing, made me laugh a lot as he really knows how to pinpoint things and clear them up, whilst we usually hear lots of discussions on these same points all around us, without anybody finding a real solution
Check out these great books and enjoy yourself - I will be adding more detailed descriptions and excerpts later on ... just starting out, you know !
Since I recently got hit by a crazy interest in Islam, I'll start by listing my favorite books on this topic :
