My personal Task (differendes between French and Dutch Belgium)
Hello everyone, I'm Fien and I'm living for 3 months in French Belgium. There aren't as much differences because it's the same country but there still are some! Sometimes I will be comparing Limbourg and the province of Luxembourg so if you have different opinions, I would be glad to hear them!
French Belgium Flanders
School: We start with 3 lessons ( every lesson= 50 minutes) than we have a break, 2 lessons, lunch, 3 lessons without break ( wednesday four lessons or more)
We start with 2 lessons (also 50 minutes) break, 2 lessons, Lunch, 2 lessons, Break, Lesson (so we have 7lessons) ( wednesday 4 lessons, not more)
They can choose between Dutch and Englisch as modern language!
We are obligated to follow French and English and French will always be your second language!
Television or movies: EVERYTHING is dubbed, they don't have television shows in Englisch with subtitles, everything is in French.
In Flanders only the tv shows or movies for little children are translated in Dutch, we watch the original versions in Englisch with subtitles in Dutch.
Bicycle( province of Luxembourg) When you see someone with a bicycle here: they are tourists, the habitants here don't have or don't ride a/their bike.
In Flanders almost everyone have a bike, when you don't live far from your school, you're going by bike,.... We don't do everything by bike but we use them a lot more!!
Villages ( province of Luxembourg) There are e lot very little villages!! For example I live in a village with 80 habitants and there are a lot villages like my village. ( it's not everywhere like that, but there are a lot) In the province of Luxembourg there aren't a lot big cities
In Flanders I also live in a 'little' village, but there is a difference, we have 1 200 habitants!!
