Do you really know planet Neptune? Well if you dont this project will teach you all about it. The name Neptune is the Greek name for Poseidon which is the god of the sea. The planet Neptune has many interesting statistics, physical characteristics and unique facts.
Neptunes rotation takes 16.11 hours. A rotation is one spin on the planets axis. Also it takes 164.79 years for one revolution. A revolution is one full circle around the sun. Also it has 13 satellites.
A satellite is a scientific name for moons. Some of Neptunes moons are Triton, Nereid, Naiad, Proteus and 9 other moons. Neptunes average temperature is about -353°F.
Neptune is a gas giant . This means Neptune is a gas planet. Neptune is made of 15% hydrogen and a little helium. The atmosphere is mostly hydrogen helium and a small amount of methane.
Like a couple of other planets Neptune has rings. In fact it has 16 rings they are all made of ice, rock, and dust particles. Neptunes rings are very faded so you cant really see them that easy.
There are a several unusual facts about Neptune. Here is one of them. Neptune once had a Great Dark Spot about half the size of the Great Red Spot. But it mysteriously disappeared from our sight. Scientists dont know if the Great Dark Spot is not there anymore or if it moved to the Southern Hemisphere. A new dark spot has appeared in the Northern Hemisphere. Also the Great dark spot is very powerful it is way more powerful than a level five hurricane.
In conclusion, the statistics, physical characteristics and interesting facts make this planet unique. It is important to study this planet, because maybe one day this information might be lifesaving to all living beings. This presentation will hopefully have taught you more about the planet Neptune then you ever knew before.
