In September2012, I was looking for a side as a project, following some research I decided to buy a side, that was designed as a side, by EML in the Netherlands. So I bought the following side, the 6th build by EML in 1976.
So this is what I bought in September 2013. The seller told me that he was the 4th owner. He said that this side started life as a side from the Dutch Marechaussee in 1976. There was a Gläser Police fairing and a electro mechanical Siren that he got with the side when he bought it. He gave me these parts... When I towned the side home, I was considering to drive the side "as is" or the rebuild it during the winter...I thaught the best approach would be to drive the side for a few hundred kilometers...so I did. First I learned that riding a side was totally different as riding a bike...one has to forget all about riding a bike. Its very tricky to get used to the behaviour of a side, it takes lots of time to get used to it as well. I quickly realised that the side was mechanically very sound, only the brake on the side-wheel did not proof to work. But the most important, the engine and gearbox appeared to work very well. I found there were lots of electrical problems as obviously over the years many mods were made, some were not made very well... Also I found that there was an issue with the propshaft...something appeared to have a lot of play... Optically, the side was not that nice, over the years there were attempts to paint several parts with a paint brush...
Unaffected by the above, I started to do some research. I found that EML was a small company that started in the early 70ties
