Chad Michael Murray is apparently as much of a trouble to work with
as he is to be married to. The actor is facing allegations from the
friend of a former One Tree Hill co-star that he was a jealous diva
during filming.
Murray, who was married to co-star Sophia Bush for
only five months before she sought a separation, was a real pill on the
set, a friend of actor John Cates told Page Six. Cates played the role
of Rusty on One Tree Hill, a character that vied against Murrays
Lucas. According to the source, "Chad told producers, 'It's no more
John Cates or no more Chad Michael Murray,' because he thought John and
Sophia were flirting."
Another snitch on the set said, "Chad was a terror to work with.
Writers kept plotting him and John against each other, and Chad took it
seriously. He told everyone on set he couldn't stand John, and finally
producers wrote him off the show."
Of course a Warner Bros. rap was quick to shoot down the story. The
flack said, "Casting decisions are made by the studio, the network and
producers. This guest star's story line was wrapped up, and production
moved on."

According to The Hollywood Reporter,
"Stealing Cars" follows a rebellious teen (Murray) who becomes a
deliquent after blaming himself for his father's death. He lands in a
juvenile detention center where he battles a corrupt administration.
Will Aldis and Steve Mackall wrote the script and Clifford Werber, Rachel Frazin and Guy Oseary will produce the film.
Chad Michael Murray will next be seen in the horror movie, "House of Wax," also starring Elisha Cuthbert and Paris Hilton.

"jealous diva" toward other male actors who filmed scenes with Bush,
even after their split. A friend of John Cates, who played Rusty (a
rival of Murray's character Lucas) for three episodes in the third
season, said Murray was responsible for ending his stint on the series.

friend. Another insider said, "Chad was a terror to work with. Writers

The cool guy is often one-dimensional. How did you infuse him with character?
Because I hate one-dimensional, cool characters. I guess I just wanted
to bring my own idiosyncrasies to the character. I wanted to just live
the life through what I perceived to be the character. When we got the
script, I felt that there wasnt enough storyline for Austin. I felt
like we really should dive into the depths of him not being happy in
his so-called perfect world with the father forcing him to go to USC.
That wasnt originally there. I sat down and I talked to the producer
and director and said, Guys, we should really grow on this storyline.
I think having two storylines meet in the middle with two people who
arent happy that find each other and become happy, I think that thats
interesting. And they all agreed. When we sat down, we talked about it
and we kind of tried to develop the storyline as much as we could
without getting away from A Cinderella Story.
Where do you get the confidence to say that to a director?
Im an idiot. So I don't know.
Did it develop from TV?
I think that I just see things the way I do. And occasionally sometimes
Im too blunt to be honest. Im never giving anyone criticism thats
not constructive. I just really want whats best for the film. I want
to make good movies. I want people to enjoy what I do. If I do
something that people really wont enjoy, then whats the point? Were
there to tell a story and entertain and have a piece of life so I don't
know. I dont want to be involved in something thats not going to do
it. Those are the facts for me.
With so many teen movies featuring girls as the stars, do you ever feel like youre asked to play just the boyfriend?
I think if you do that, you screw yourself. I think that youre there
to play a character and tell a story. I mean, those are the facts, you
know? You cant really think about who youre doing it with or what the
purpose of the film is and what length to explain the story. If I went
in there and I was insecure, it would show. I was excited. I thought
Hilary Duffs on such a great ride right now, people are going to
obviously really want to attach themselves to this film. Shes doing a
great job and shes such a sweet girl. So I just took her out to coffee
prior to the movie, just to get to know her and work with her, so we
could create some sort of relationship between each other. So it would
be easier on set. And I don't know, I never actually thought about that
but thanks for making me feel bad (laughing).
Are you poetic in real life?
No, Im not a poet. But I think that Im definitely connected to my
sensitive side. I pretty much wear my emotions on my sleeves for the
people in my life. But very much like Austin, he doesnt show everybody
what hes feeling. He keeps to himself except when hes in a
comfortable situation. Hes got his boys and stuff like that, but other
than that, I don't think hes happy. I don't think hes perfect. High
school quarterback, hes got good grades, he can go to USC, hes got
the best girl. Everybody thinks hes perfect, but he goes on the
Internet and obviously explains to this secret admirer or secret
Internet Explorer chick that hes not happy. He gets his feelings out
there and I feel like thats more real

Growing up in Buffalo, New York, Chad Michael Murray is an avid
Buffalo Bills fan. "My sport is football," enthuses the six foot, blue
eyed Murray. "I love football. I played high school football and went
to the State Championships my senior year. [For me], it was either
professional football or acting." Taking a chance on the bright lights
instead of touchdowns, Murray gave himself a chance in Hollywood. "I
told myself that if nothing happened in a year, I'd go to college and
play football," he says.
Murray's road to Los Angeles, California, is what legends are
made of. At the age of 15, a wounded mesentery ("when someone hit me in
the stomach playing football") landed him in the hospital where a nurse
encouraged him to pursue modeling. Two years later, Murray won a
scholarship from a local modeling agency to attend a convention in
Orlando, Florida. At the convention, an agent from Los Angeles
persuaded Murray to try acting. In 1999, the aspiring actor headed to
Hollywood and landed modeling gigs for Sketchers, Gucci and Tommy
Hilfiger. Later, the WB cast him as Tristan in Gilmore Girls and this
eventually led to his Dawson's Creek role as Charlie. Through it all,
Murray believed in eating healthy and playing sports--football, soccer,
basketball, volleyball--to keep in shape.
Murray has a competitive nature that propels him to play
sports. "I get to focus and compete. I find that sports really
challenge me. It's its own therapy." Working two jobs with weekends set
aside for charity events, photo shoots and other promotional work, "I
really don't get a chance to play as often as I'd like. But I try to go
the gym regularly for workouts," says Murray.
Indeed, Murray is knowledgeable about his body and what
workouts are best for him. His three hour workouts begin with a 20
minute run on the treadmill, "that tones everything up." Then he
alternates lifting weights for chest and triceps one day, biceps and
back muscles another day, shoulders and legs on the third day and abs
everyday. "I need to have my abs defined which means using more weight.
I'm like my own trainer," he admits. "I do a full circuit workout. I
had the whole thing down in high school [and] I was up to 185 pounds
then." Now at 160 pounds, Murray wants to reverse his weight loss trend
and get up to 170 pounds. "I got so busy, I stopped my three to four
times a week workout," he explains. "Now I'm working on eating better
and going to the gym for three hours at a time."
His workout has added more meals to his diet. "I'm a six meal a
day guy," he laughs. "When I'm working out, I never stop eating.
Mornings start with a bowl of cereal and milk, then a PowerBar[R]
before the gym. Post-exercise, I have another PowerBar[R] followed by a
salad and sandwich. Later, I'll have a snack like frozen yogurt or
chips and then a Subway[TM] sandwich. Right before bed, I'll have
another bowl of cereal." Antioxidants and acidophilus are the only
supplements Murray takes regularly. Throughout the day, he stays
hydrated with Gatorade[R] and two gallons of water. Favorite junk food?
"I'm really bad with Skittles[R]--and if anyone wants my vote, keep the
green apple and get rid of the lime."
With all his professionalism and reputation as Hollywood's next
"It" guy, Murray is anything but a stereotypical sex symbol. He likes
to relax, play video games and hang out at Starbucks[R] with friends.
"I still go to acting class and don't think about the labels put on
me," he says. What does he consider his best physical feature? After
much thought, he replies, "My eyes. They are the windows to my soul.
They're a way to see into someone's mind. Whatever trials or
tribulations an individual has been through is revealed through their
eyes." His least favorite feature? "I'm working on everything. I'm
trying to get to where I want to be in life."
In 10 years, Murray hopes to have his life complete. "You know,
health, happiness, a family, a nice house, a dog and a few
restaurants--basically slowing everything down and taking stress out of
life. I already have ideas for three restaurants. My favorite is a deli
with a swinging door, where you can get penny candy, a Snapple[R] from
the fridge and my signature meal--a pepperoni and bacon sandwich."
