In de Warner Bros Home Entertainment Guide 2013 wordt gesproken over een release van de Extended Edition van The Hobbit. Hoewel deze film nog in de bioscopen moet verschijnen werd er in deze gids al een release voor Q4 van 2013 voorzien voor een extended edition van The Hobbit.

Warner Bros onkent dit echter volledig en komt naar buiten met de volgende verklaring:
In the recently distributed calendar included in the Warner Bros. 90th Anniversary press kit, there was an erroneous mention of an Extended Edition release for The Hobbit film. This product has not been confirmed yet and we apologize for any confusion. Of course it hasnt been concerned, because Peter Jackson is still trying to finish up An Unexpected Journey before he begins thinking about the Extended Edition. We still expect to see it anyway, but we probably wont hear anything about it until the firstHobbit movie hits theaters first.
