Introduction The afterlife is something humans have thought about for ages, and many have tried, but none have succeeded, to explain what happens after one dies. Thus many theories have sprung up, including:
-Ascension to heaven/damnation to hell This is what most modern day religions believe in in some form or another, even those, like Hinduism and Buddhism, who are thought to believe in reincarnation. And although this isn't false, the complete truth is that after someone has gone through enough cycles of life, he or she will also ascend to heaven. There is little proof to this however, despite the fact that so many people believe in this.

-Reincarnation One type of reincarnation is that described by quite a few East Asian religions, in which we die and get born again, but after going through enough cycles of this we'll ascend to heaven. Another theory of reincarnation, outside of the cycle system of the East Asian religions, is that we simply keep getting reborn again and again and again in a never-ending cycle. There have been studies on this that have shown that this form of afterlife is definetly to be considered, but there is nothing concrete.

-Atheistic Theories Some people believe that after you die it's over. That you simply stop thinking and everything ends. Not as many people believe in this as in a major religion, but the movement's gaining popularity.
