Yellowcard is een rockband uit Jacksonville, die werd opgericht in 1997. Hun muziek wordt vooral ingedeeld in Pop punk of alternatieve Rock. De muziek van Yellowcard is zo uniek doordat ze een viool gebruiken.
Geschiedenis
Yellowcard werd in 1997 opgericht op de Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, de band bestond toen uit 6 leden: Ben Dobson (zang) Todd Clarry (zang en gitaar) Ben Harper (gitaar) Sean Mackin (viool, achtergrond zang) Warren Cooke (basgitaar) Longineu W. Parsons III (drums).
Yellowcard kreeg hun naam doordat ze, als één van hen iets stoms deed op een feestje, zoals een glas laten vallen, diegene een gele kaart gaven zoals in voetbal. Aan het begin van hun carrière was er verwarring over hoe je de naam moest schrijven (Yellowcard of Yellow Card), de band maakte toen bekend dat het Yellowcard was.
Yellowcard's grote doorbraak kwam met het de single Ocean Avenue van het gelijknamige album. Daarvoor hadden ze maar weinig succes met albums.
