Tour de France: The biggest bike race of the world
The Tour de France began in 1903 by Henri Desgrange and Geo Lefèvre.
They had a dream to start a race around France over 2500 km.
Everyday, the cyclists have to ride on average 150 km.
It is a 22-day, 20-stage road race that is usually run over more than 3000km.
The race consists of 20 to 22 teams with nine riders each.
The Tour ends in Paris on the Champs-Elysées, there the different jerseys are handover to the winners.
For example:-the yellow jersey Overall leader
-the green jersey Points classification
-the Polka dot jersey King of the Mountains
-the white jersey The youngest and best cyclist
After more than a 100 years, there have been more than 2000 stages and more than 1000 cyclists. This year, there was a stage in Belgium.
There have been several legends, for instance: Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Miguel Indurain has won The Tour 5 consecutive years, Lance Armstrong has won The Tour 7 consecutive years.
In 2007, the Tour de France is the most important bike race of the world.
Since 1984 there is a Tour de France for female cyclists.
So, cycling is for every age, genus and generation. Conclusion: FOR EVERYONE!!

I'm a big fan of Tom Boonen. He's really the best. Last year I was glad that he won the green jersey. I hear some people thinking: the green jersey, it's easy to get him. The opposite is true. Tom Boonen had to work very hard to keep his beautiful green jersey. Do I still have to convince someone? OK. Does everybody now that Tommeke Boonen wear the yellow jersey a few years ago. Now a bit backgroundinformation about Tornado Tom. He was born on October 15, 1980 in Mol. He lived with his parents in Balen, but one year ago he moved to Monaco, an independent state in France. He's an professional racer by the team Quick-Step Innergetic. He rides the best at one day road races, like the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix. Tom is especially a sprinter. Because of his looks and his calibres, is het one of the most famous sportsman of Belgium and even Europe. The most of the races he won, was with a mass-sprint. This year his was winning the green jersey in the Tour the France.

Lance Armstrong is an American cyclist from Austin (Texas). He's born in september on the eighteenth in 1971. He was one of the best bike racers of his generation. He started his career in high school on the olympic team. Lance Armstrong, foto courtesy National Institutes of Health
He had one goal in mind. He wanted to win the biggest race of the world, The tour the France. That was the only European race there was in America that his mother could follow on television. He has won the Tour the France 7 times starting in 1999 till 2005. He wanted to break the record of Eddy Merckx.
In 1996, the doctors discovered an extreem sorth of cancer. After a difficult recovery, he started to race again. With his experience, he wanted to do something for all the other people who have cancer. So, he created LIVESTRONG. It's an organisation that supports cancer victims and researchs. Everybody knows this bracelet that supports cancer patients. Henri Cornet, the youngest tourwinner ever. He won the tour 1904. He was almost twenty years old. Odile Defraye, the first Belgian cyclist who won the tour (1912) All the French cyclists were jalous!!! Ottavio Bottecchia, he won the tour in 1925, but ten years later he died. A farmer hit him with a stone, because he wanted to steel a grape. The new tourboss, Jacques Goddet, Desgrange died while the tour was going on in 1936.
Gino Bartali, he predicted: This year I'm gonna win the tour... and he won.
Jean Robic, he won the tour in 1947 without wearing the yellow jersey.

Neen, uw blog moet niet dagelijks worden bijgewerkt. Het is gewoon zoals je het zélf wenst. Indien je geen tijd hebt om dit dagelijks te doen, maar bvb. enkele keren per week, is dit ook goed. Het is op jouw eigen tempo, met andere woorden: vele keren per dag mag dus ook zeker en vast, 1 keer per week ook.
Er hangt geen echte verplichting aan de regelmaat. Enkel is het zo hoe regelmatiger je het blog bijwerkt, hoe meer je bezoekers zullen terugkomen en hoe meer bezoekers je krijgt uiteraard.
