I guess you have heard about the flood in thailand. The north and northeast of Thailand had to
deal with bad flooding one month ago. Within one month those water masses streamed down towards
the sea and right now it moves towards Bangkok.
Ayuddhaya the old capital of Thailand - is badly flooded, some parts up to 5m (Ayuddhaya
Industrial area and Wang Noi District). 2,4 mill. people are homeless living in army shelters or just
anywhere beside the highway. 300 people have died in the flood and some are still missing.
The airport Suvarnabhumi is not affected as it is built with a very good canalization system.
Bangkok is partially flooded mostly in areas near to the Chao Praya River and the Klongs (Canals).
Flood happens every year but this year it got worse than ever and so the government tries hard to
protect the City of Bangkok with its 17 million people.
We in Wat Prayong are not affected yet but within the next few days the government wants to open
the floodgates which will navigate the water towards Minburi, Nong Chok and Chachoengsao the
east of Bangkok and we might get into trouble too.
But right now we are trying to help those affected by the flood. Within the last week we have sent 4
truckloads of relief-goods to Ayuddhaya . Mostly rice, instant-noodles, canned food, drinking water,
torches and batteries (as they have no electricity).
I want thank the ambassador of Austria and his wife who have together with Phra Acharn Phet
initialized this appeal for funds.
If you want and can, then please help those who need it now and quickly. I have included my

transfer it to my thai account as soon as a bit more is on it...so we only have to pay transfer once.

Gisteren ben ik getroffen door de omstandigheden waaronder de vrouwtjebaviaan die ik in een Boeddhistisch kloostertje in Thailand heb leren kennen moet wonen. Gaby en ik zijn bezig met een plan om haar leefomstandigheden wat te verbeteren. Haar de vrijheid schenken heeft geen zin, omdat ze teveel is vervreemd van de jungle. We willen een nieuwe kooi laten bouwen waarin ze een beetje kan klimmen en schommelen in een oude autoband. Ik denk dat we voor 100euro of misschien iets meer al een klein paleisje voor haar kunnen realiseren. Wie betaald er mee?
