In what follows, I will list some of the things you certainly must have seen or done during your stay in a hotel in Parijs. I'll start with the absolute symbol of the city, a world famous building and already visited by countless people: the Eiffel Tower. Built for the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and the centenary of the French Revolution, this 300 meter tall tower is a radical expression of the (then) modern building technique and views on architecture. It is worth a trip to the top to where you can see more than 65km far on clear days. From my balcony in my last hotel I had a great view over the tower and the surroundings.

Paris' Gothic masterpiece is the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, only two blocks away from my last goedkoop hotel in Parijs centrum. Built between 1163 and 1334, but damaged during the French Revolution, the cathedral today is beautifully restored to its original state. The towers are in perfect balance with each other, the rose window is very beautiful and the western facade of the three doorways with rows of saints and carved tympanums simply awe-inspiring.
If you like to buy and read a good book from time to time, Paris is absolute heaven. I always read two or three big books when staying in a hotel Paris Zentrum. The City of Lights is the resting place of many great literary minds, their work can often be found on the shelves of bookshops and charming cafés. To the south, at the Cimetière du Montparnasse, you can enjoy a pleasant walk among the tombstones of famous writers. Philosophers Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir were buried side by side, and Baudelaire, Beckett and Guy de Maupassant can also be spotted under the trees.
Versailles ... If you booked a room in a Paris hotel for more than one or two days, you have plenty of time to go see te palace Versailles. Centuries of makeovers have made it into the most luxurious palace in the world. You really need the entire day here. The palace we know today was largely developed under the reign of Louis XIV. In the late eighteenth century, Louis XV added the lush Royal Opera, which today is used for concerts by the Center for Baroque Music.
At the Musée d'Orsay, about fifteen minutes away by foot from my last hôtel à Paris centre, you can discover the work of many impressionists. Located in a former train station, the collection is in chronological order: 1848 to 1914. On the ground floor you see The Artist's Studio by the landscapes of Courbet and Corot, Daubigny and Millet, forerunners of Impressionism. Here you will find provocative works such as Manet's Olympia, which paves the way for the Liberal paintings by Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh in the upper galleries.
