I've had many attempts to convince some (girl)friends of mine that "The Fast Show" is probably the best absurd comedy show ever made. They often disagree, because after watching one episode, they don't have clue... An old guy "Jesse" stepping out of his "out- house , just saying: "This week, I've been mostely eating,... Pony". Or the 13th Duke of Wybourn, who finds himself in all manner of unsuitable locations usually at night with a number of ladies. Absurd, yet oh so hilarious! The funniest 5 seconds on TV. Blackadder, Monty Python,... they surely do the trick but The Fast Show is definitely my favourite British comic relief. If we make an analysis of Belgian humouristic tv shows like Het Peulengaleis and the effortless Sketch A Gogo, both shows that are playing with the element of absurdity, we can only conclude a big influence. Too bad it did only last for 3 seasons.
Aaah, another day spent on useful activities. After neglecting the old girlfriend I gave her a helping hand in the garden, drove her around with a tourvan to pick up some old furniture: a retro drawing table to be precise. She deserved some attention, there was only one thing that got my attention the past two weeks: I had a demo deadline yesterday, 5 brand new songs for a new album for my band. While school-obligations consumed a lot of the day, I still spent 7 to 9 hours a day working on new songs. With succes, the record company guy left our meeting with great satisfaction and congratulated me again with a text message. It needs to be said I did have a feeling it was going to be a succesful meeting, its the thrill one gets while writing songs oneself is satisfied with. I thought this day, after several very busy ones, was going to end with a couch and the TV, but nothings on. Except for these horsecrap redecoration shows, cooking programs and something with people who believe they have an exceptional 6th sense. Then again it was time to begin with this school-blog were supposed to be writing every week for English class, which you are reading right now.
