A cocktail with insects, who likes?
It seems like a strange idea, putting insects in a cocktail, but it is becoming a huge hype in England. Barkeepers were searching for a way to give their cocktail that extra special thing. Well then, away with the piece of lemon and the small pink decorations and in with poisonous scorpions, giant ants and exotic spiders.
The insects, in our personal opinion, do not belong in a tasty cocktail, but who ever feels the urge to taste, for only 20, this not so tasty cocktail is yours!

Everyone needs a hobby

Yes, exactly, everyone needs one. Altough we might ask some questions by some hobbies. Ofcourse everyone does exactly what they like, and were not supposed to give any commentary on it. But why, oh why would you love to spend your free time cultivating giant pumpkins. Seems like a mystery to me, but in North-America, people adore it. A man called Gene McMuller made a magnificent pumpkin of 2145.5 pound! Can you imagine how much pumpkin soup one could make out of that!

Chocolate actually makes you a happier person

Eating chocolat is often seen as something bad for your body, because of the weightgain. But it's not as unhealthy as we think it is, shown by various studies. It has been proven that chocolate has benefits too. First of we become happier when were eating it, by creating certain substances in the brain, which gives us a good feeling. Not only gives it a good vibe, it also has a protective action against heart attacks because there are mainly natural substances like flavanoids in it. These protective substances can also be found in apples, red wine and tea. Further has the smell of chocolate a calming effect. So I think that we can feel less guilty when were eating that piece of chocolate.

Did you know that carrots used to be purple in the 17th century?
The modern day orange carrot wasnt cultivated until Dutch growers in the late 16th century took mutant strains of the purple carrot and gradually developed them into the sweet, plump, orange variety we have today. Before this, pretty much all carrots were purple with mutated versions occasionally popping up including yellow and white carrots. These were rarely cultivated and lacked the purple pigment anthocyanin.
It is thought that the modern day orange carrot was developed by crossing the mutated yellow and white rooted carrots as well as varieties of wild carrots, which are quite distinct from cultivated varieties.
Some think that the reason the orange carrot became so popular in the Netherlands was in tribute to the emblem of the House of Orange and the struggle for Dutch independence. This could be, but it also might just be that the orange carrots that the Dutch developed were sweeter tasting and more fleshy than their purple counterparts, thus providing more food per plant and being better tasting.
