Nieuw Sci-Fi project voor Andrew Niccol

 Andrew Niccol is een naam die misschien niet bij heel veel mensen een belletje doet rinkelen, maar met de drie films die hij vooralsnog op zijn naam heeft staat altijd wist te verrassen. De regisseur van Gattaca, S1m0ne en Lord of War, en de scenarist van The Truman Show en The Terminal lijkt na vijf jaar eindelijk weer een nieuwe film te gaan maken. Het gaat om het sci-fi project I'm Mortal. Lees hieronder de synopsis van het project, dat een prikkelend uitgangspunt kent:
The script is set in the not-too-distant future where the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. Within that setup, the script really follows a young man who somehow comes into a fortunes worth of time, and is soon on the run from a de facto police force called time keepers.
Dat klinkt als fascinerende film en het is dan ook te hopen dat Niccol de financiering voor het project rond krijgt. Hoe het met twee andere veelbelovende projecten van hem gaat, de sci-fi thriller The Cross en de verfilming van The Host naar een boek van Stephanie Meyer, is onbekend.
